Unbeatable prices, very casual, so easy to grab and go. I kept ordering more items and total was about $ 8. Food is well-made, so glad I got the fried rice, reminds me of my aunt’s homemade from my childhood, not overly greasy, perfectly cooked. I have enough leftovers for dinner, unusual for me, I’m a hearty eater.

Damn good egg rolls. Ordered 60 and they had it ready in 45 minutes. I could eat these egg rolls all day, every day!

Not the cleanest or the best food in the world. But it’s authentic(but not refined), cheap & run by a couple where this is their livelihood. Opens early & breakfast for me was $ 6. No tip. Combo lunches are also about $ 6.

I’ve been coming to to this place for years and I must say I will not be eating here any more. The food has gotten worse over time and is so god damn greasy! Literally every time I eat here I end up regretting it. The dim sum is not bad but the the Chinese food is way to heavy on the stomach due to all the grease. Don’t get me started on there cleanliness! I’ve found hair in my food before, the old lady that makes the egg rolls in the corner could not care that the egg roll sheets just fell on the ground(which has happened before and they didn’t give a rat’s ass and laughed it off when I told them) and so on. I question myself why I would come here again.

Found a hair sticking out of my chicken bao after the second bite. Looked like a pube. Made me so sick. Not a fan. Will not be returning. Enough said.

This is the type of place where you can get a rice combo and entrees that taste just like your mom’s cooking. You don’t come to this place for the ambiance or to take pictures of your food for instagram. It’s a grab and go place that serves dimsums and rice plates to fill your tummy. The ladies working here are super nice and generous. When you buy a combo, they fill it to the top and can literally be 3 – 4 meals for me all for under $ 6. The ladies speak broken english so you would probably have to point at everything if you don’t speak cantonese. I love their beancurd vegetarian rolls as well. It is not overly greasy and my vegetarian cousin loves eating it!

We are new to the area and was walking around looking for a good joint to eat. My husband was in the mood for dim sum and somehow landed here. First of all if I could get it no stars I would. We walked into this hole in the wall, to find two ladies cutting a little boy’s hair in front of all of the food. Yes you read that right! To top that off, the little boy was running all over the small tiny place, knocking over dishes, other customer’s food and belongings-which made it even more unappealing and ANNOYING!
I opted out to order from here, but my husband insisted. We ordered a variety of their steamed dumplings and it was nothing but dough. It was so doughy we could hardly take it down with water. The Shu Mai was nothing spectacular. The steam bbq pork bun tasted like it was frozen and then reheated. It was definitely not fresh and homemade. The baked pork bun was mediocre and bland. I was surprised how many people stopped in and out of this place. We both ended up sick with food poisoning and spent the rest of the evening puking our guts out and having the runs. Stay clear of this place unless you are looking to spend the evening in the restroom.

Holy balls and nut sacks, can’t believe I haven’t Unilocaled my beloved bakery. Jeebus himself would rise from the dead for this neighborhood staple. Any true ethnic foodie(not those«fusion» suckers) will tell you that the less English a hole in the wall speaks, the better their food. A couple of hints: — stick with the dimsum — the actual«combo plates»(rice and some dishes on the sides) are good, but go with what they’re known for — if going with the combo plates, the safe bet is vegetarian, try the tofu shell rolls — cash only — stop bitching about language barriers and cash only — take out only, a few seats but mostly occupied by the regulars Bonus points: no bros will ever be in here. Yes!

I almost don’t want to write a review because I don’t want everyone to know about this place and overcrowd it! This is the best dim sum food I have ever had. And you can get a crazy amount for the money. It is ridiculously cheap but cash only. They barely speak English, and I am usually the only person not speaking Chinese to them, which I take as a good sign! Go where the locals go. I am so glad I randomly stumbled into this place. Go. You won’t regret it. I have tried almost everything and have been disappointed by nothing.

Dim sum was ok, but chinese food was mediocre and resulted in a bad stomach. Should have been suspicious of meat stored in room temperature…

Typical hole-in-the-wall shady dim sum place, and I say that fondly. This place is super close to the UCSF Parnassus campus and is convenient to stop by for a snack or for quick meal. Rating Breakdown: ½ Stars for Taste – Everything is just a touch above mediocre. I was just stopping by for a mid-afternoon snack so I went for an order of the dim sum. I found the beef shumai to be too dry, but the shark fin dumpling and turnip cake were palatable. You’ll definitely leave with a sheen of oil covering your lips — dim sum, it’s the new lip gloss! My friend would like to make it known that the egg tarts are terrible. 0.5÷1 Stars for Value – It’s $ 2.25 to pick three dim sum items. You can also opt for the bento option(rice/noodle + 2 entrees), for $ 5.25. Prices include tax. It’s a cheap lunch option, but you get exactly what you paid for. Things here are rarely fresh. I walk past here some nights after they close; I can see the sad little turnip cakes just sitting there through the darkened window and I wonder, «How long have those been there?» 0.5÷1 Stars for Customer Service – The ladies behind the counter were very nice and helpful to my friend and me(it helps that he speaks Toisan and I speak Mandarin). They answered our questions and waited patiently as we hemmed and hawed over all the options. However, I can definitely see there being a language barrier for anyone who can’t speak some form of Chinese. Get ready for some intense pointing and interpretative dance! Bonus star because when I’m on campus craving dim sum, or if I want a quick, cheap bun to fill me up, I’ll stop by Hing Wang again. It’s one of those places where you set your expectations so low, you just can’t be disappointed.

I haven’t eaten at Hing Wang for over a year, but it deserves 5 stars. The only caveat is this review is for dim sum only. Hing Wang is super affordable, the lady who serves you during the week is suuuper nice, servings are huge, and food is pretty tasty. This place is definitely the best dim sum in the immediate area. You have to go to the Inner Richmond for comparable food at comparable prices. Shrimp dumplings and shrimp and chive dumplings are the best things IMO. I was a super loyal customer when I lived there, and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for quick dim sum.

One of those classic dim sum places that you’re so glad still exists – cheap, delicious, and always a variety of people here picking up some delicious food. I loved the luo buo gao(white radish cakes), ha gao(shrimp dumplings) and buns.

Nothing fancy Cheap dim sum to go when I don’t have a big entourage for a sit down meal. I can just pick one of each :) My faves: turnip cake, fried chicken drumsticks, steamed chicken feet, chui jow fun gau(pork dumpling with peanut & cilantro), shrimp dumpling

Hole in the wall joint with cheap and tasty dim sum. Probably best for take out orders since there isn’t much room in this small shop. I stumbled in here because I couldn’t resist the alluring smells pouring out the door. I only grabbed the sew Mai, fried dumpling and a baked bun. I loved the pork sew mai but the BBQ pork baked bun was just ok and I wasn’t a fan of the fried dumpling(the dumpling wrapper was a bit too thick for my taste). Even though the food wasn’t outstanding, three pieces of dim sum and a baked bun for under $ 4 bucks is hard to beat and will be sure to fill you up. Service was friendly and patient though not much English was spoken. It was a little entertaining watching people try to order and some of the miscommunication that was going on but the service lady was very cute and patient through it all :). I’d come back here again if I lived in the area.

I swear, it’s cheaper to eat out than to cook if you’re living in Inner Sunset. At Hing Wang, you can get 3 – 4 meals worth of food for under $ 6 if you order their lunch combo. I highly recommend their noodles(they sell all sorts and they’re all really good, although I’m partial to the regular chow mein). For $ 2 you can also pick 3 dim sum items. Not all of them are great but the pork siu mai is ridiculously delicious. I can eat 3 orders by myself easily. I don’t really recommend their har gow or any item that has translucent skin. Stick with the siu mai. When I’m feeling indulgent, I’ll also order their da bao(big steamed bun). The inside comes with pork, hard boiled egg, sweet Chinese sausage, and mushrooms. My only complaint is that there is too much bread. They also have other mantou and bao zi made from whole wheat flour if that’s more your style. It’s very obvious from the irregular shapes of these bao that everything is handmade. In terms of sweets, I was pretty impressed with their dan ta last time I tried them. The filling was eggy albeit not sweet and the crust was flaky and light. My parents thought they weren’t that great though but hey, they’re way cheaper than at Golden Gate Bakery so you get what you pay for. More recently, I got to try their nian gao and that was definitely a home run. Imagine mochi on steroids, sweetened with brown sugar and pan-fried with egg so that the bottom was a little crispy, but the rest was gelatinous and soft. SOGOOD. I’m considering buying a whole bunch for my family for New Year’s. Honestly, with the exception of that nian gao(which is like 5 stars in my book), the food is closer to 3.5 stars; I wouldn’t really go out of my way just to come here to get dim sum. But I feel compelled to give Hing Wang an extra half star because the ladies who work here are so nice. Very sweet, very patient, always providing great service with a smile. I’m glad to see them doing well and hope they continue to do so for the years to come.

Great and cheap dim sum ONTHEGO! Don’t be tricked by the appearance of this place! It doesn’t look too fancy from the outside(it’s kind of a hole-in-the-wall), but the food taste pretty good and authentic!!! You can pick 3 snacks(ex. spring roll, sesame ball, wonton, etc) for $ 2 total, which I did. Having 3 of them alone WILL fill you up! And the taste is pretty good! I got a veggie spring roll, sesame ball, and a radish cake. I also got a sticky rice w/chicken for $ 2.65. The lady even offered to heat up the sticky rice for me since I bought them to go and she thought I might have wanted to eat it on the road. Very nice lady. So everything together cost me less than $ 5. I could not taste a difference between the dim sum here and the ones I get at restaurants. And like I said… I thought the service was very nice and the price is extremely valuable. I was in and out in less than 5 min. Will definitely visit again!!!

I don’t think anyone can be great in everything, so 5 stars for being good in most of their offers and some great ones. I love dim sum and have had many in my life from humble Coffeeshop joints to famous dim sum oriented restaurants in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Two really great ones in their category are the egg tarts and fried carrot cake squares. Their fried carrot cake squares: very humble in looks but highly sophisticated in taste, multiple layers of flavors coming from the mix of red carrot, white raddish, Chinese sausage, and perhaps also cured cuttlefish, and pan fried perfectly. Great eaten no matter hot or cold. Their egg tarts: superbly rich and smooth eggy custard wrapped by very good buttery slightly flaky crust that doesn’t fall apart and mess up the table. Some folks like it really light and flaky though. Smell the rich mix of baked egg and butter and savor slowly. For those who think the dim sum is all meat and carbs, ask for the ones with ample vegetables in them. They have these two types of steamed version that is stuffed with carrots, raddish, Chinese mushrooms, turnip, chives, and one of them has peanut wholes. Some pork or chicken meat in there so not entirely vegan. They may have, but I didn’t look for that. Drink tea with it, tea is good. But I like my coffee more.
