When I saw the name of the building I knew it had to go into the company scavenger hunt. When everyone saw the James Bong clue they were like, is this for real? Fits in perfectly in SF!

One of my company’s offices is in this bldg. When I first started working there, my boss told me our second office was in the Bong bldg, I thought I heard her wrong and didn’t want to come off as a pothead so I called it the Bond bldg just to be safe until I realized it was actually called Bong.

I chuckle to myself every time I notice it from my bus ride to work. It’s one door east of the SF Downtown Centre.

Only San Francisco has the extreme level of voodoo necessary to turn even James Bond green.
You must walk by this building and witness it with your eyes. The building is as (subtly) beautiful and unique as it’s name is funny.

What a beautiful old building.
And the name rolls off the tongue. The James Bong Building.
I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not going to say it. We’re serious here, pay attention. Built by Lee Hobart in 1908 on behalf of the California Academy of Sciences. Their former headquarters was destroyed in the ’06 quake. It was originally known as the Commercial Building.
It has one of those ornate San Francisco lobbies with balconies and little statuettes of cherubs, built in 1908, gold colored, could be real gold leaf. Mostly private and government associations here. I’m thinking it would be perfect for a detective agency or small accounting office.
