Jodi Mainwaring, CMT

Jodi is an incredible massage therapist. She is incredibly talented at massage itself and all of the other reviews here reflect that. But Jodi also is amazingly talented at connecting with human beings generally not just through massage but in the way she interacts with her clients. She is responsive and aware and perceptive and knows how to communicate well and I could go on and on. I’m thankful to have found her.

I have to agree with Glamourbrain and Andrea J… Jodi is the master. «Soulful» would be another way to describe her approach and skill. Incredibly intuitive with an amazing understanding of how the body works (and more importantly, when it doesn’t!).

Best massage ever by the nicest person ever. I am extremely active, and Jodi gets rid of all the aches and pains, and always understands what my body needs. The environment in her space is extremely soothing, and for me a big plus is that she makes her own pleasant music mixes from real musicians — no twerpy New Age stuff!

Hands down, the most skillful massage therapist I have gone to. Having studied massage myself, it’s been challenging to find someone who really allows me to just relax without thinking about and criticizing their techniques. Without verbalizing anything to her, Jodi just knew exactly what my body needed and the prefect amount of pressure to apply. I’m so happy to have found her and can confidently refer her to anyone!

First of all — if you are looking for a basic «need to relax» massage there are thousands of other therapist to go to. However, if you are an athlete, a trainer, a physical therapist, a professional dancer, a yoga practitioner or a very physically active and aware person– Jodi is the ideal massage therapist for you. She really works with the body and how it is responds to your sport or daily activity. She did magic with my feet. Real magic in opening the tension around the structure of my bones. I am a avid hiker and I do yoga at least five times a week and my feet have been taking the heat. Jodi created more space and more mobility in my legs where some habitual patterns were beginning to take hold. She could tell by the way my body held tension how my repetitive motion was creating blockages in my walk and in my stance for yoga. My body was not in its optimal flow and her massage got it back in shape. Not only did she knead out the tension in my feet (the best foot massage of my life) she showed me how my steps and the distribution of weight was creating unnecessary pain in my hips, knees and feet. I am now walking and standing completely differently and I am flooded with more energy. I will keep working with Jodi because she has the knowledge, the training, the intuition and the skill of a master body worker. If you really care about your sport and how your body is showing up in your sport and if you want to put your best foot forward — I would work with Jodi. Your body will thank you, your coach will thank you, your team will thank you and you will feel good to go!

Jodi has been my massage therapist for almost 3 years now. A good friend of my husband & I (who also wrote a review for Jodi, yea!), gifted us with 90min massages from Jodi in the Spring 2010. I had a massage therapist who I thought was amazing, until after the «Jodi experience». She is BY FAR, the best massuese I have EVER had, and my husband thought the same. Anyway, she has an incredible knowledge of the body and muscle groups and always can tell what parts need attention, even if you aren’t aware, when you inititally lie down on the massage table. She is a warm & loving person as well. I also did massage with Jodi when I was pregnant with our second daughter, and she always made me so comfortable and really helped with my lower back pain/​pressure issues. Anyway, if I could afford to see Jodi weekly, I would! But, at least I appreciate my monthly massages with her and LOVE the fact that she now has a studio downtown, which makes it all the more convenient as well. She’s the BEST!!! :)

Jodi is THE BEST massage therapist you will ever find! I have been a client of hers for about 6 years (since she moved to SF), and have referred many others to her (who ALL concur with my assessment). She has an amazing understanding of the body and how it works neurokinetically, and the strength and skill to affect significant healing. I go to her for deep tissue work regularly, about every 3 – 4 weeks. Hers is a talent that you wouldn’t know you’d been missing until you experience it, and couldn’t possibly ever compare to once you have.

My wife and I have been seeing Jodi for over 2 years now and i realized we had not given her a review. I almost would rather not let the secret out about how amazing she is, i don’t want her to get so busy she can’t fit us in. But not only is she an phenomenal therapist, she is a wonderful person so we’ll share. Her technical massage skills are very strong, with a thorough understanding of all muscle groups and how they interact with each other while her sense of connection to your body and what it needs at that time is unbelievable. she has truly been an integral part of keeping our bodies in working condition.

I had the most amazing massage of my life! 2 hours of body work that I really needed yesterday and I feel amazing today. Jodi is so thorough and her energy is great. Id love to go every week for maintenance but maybe every other week is more realistic. Her location on Market street is super convenient, highly, highly recommend her for deep tissue intuitive massage!
