Dr. Joseph Ng is the very BEST doctor I’ve ever known! Dr. Joseph Ng is the pinnacle of the acupuncture field and practice! Not only is he the most experienced and knowledgeable in understanding natural healing, but also he puts his heart into his work.
I’ve went through 5 neurologists for my son’s seizure, and ultimately the only solution they had was to give my son lifetime drugs. Thank God my son was treated by Dr. Joseph Ng. Miraculously, after only 3 months of Dr. Joseph Ng treatments, my son no longer has seizures.

What does it mean to be a normal, healthy human-​being? All medicine emerges from how we define what a human-​being is in relationship to what we actually are.
Dr. Ng’s practice of medicine defines a human-​being as a network of relationships, which, when operating harmoniously in a ‘healthy’ way, a human-​being expresses a modest sense of enjoyment in life regardless of circumstances. This definition of a healthy human-​being is in harmony with the clinical medical practices developed and used in the Chinese region of the world for the last several thousand years, and thus gives traditional Chinese medical practitioners who embody and live this definition a great deal of success in application.
Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine (or TCM) is in a process of melding with Western, Eurocentric derived medicine. In order for this synthesis to succeed, the definition of what a healthy human-​being is according to modern TCM is shifting in an attempt to find some common ground for both medicines to function together. As a result, most of the practitioners of what we call Chinese Medicine here in the west have a difficult time establishing and maintaining successful clinical treatments with their patients.
You may call Dr. Ng a traditional Chinese medical practitioner because he is using Chinese derived methods of treatment in conjunction with the traditional definition of a human-​being, but his medical knowledge and skill reaches beyond the limitations of these terms. Dr. Ng’s practice is dedicated to his patients, his community, and human-​beings as a whole discovering healthy and harmonious relationships with themselves and the world. I first came to Doctor Ng after 3 weeks in bed with severe sciatica. That same evening of my first visit I was finally able to sit through dinner without pain, which was wonderful as it was New Year’s Eve with my family.
Even though I don’t «understand» what happens when I go to his office, I know my health is supported for the better and my pain has not returned.
I think he is fair, does not over-​treat (I am fond of minimalist acupuncturists — a couple of needles well-​placed do the job), and accommodating.
Such a pleasure to find a true healer.

Dr. Ng is a warm, charismatic and funny man with a true gift for healing. I went in with debilitating symptoms after a fairly severe concussion and 4 treatments later I am just about 100% recovered. I am very grateful that the spirit of real medicine is still alive and well in a person like Dr. Ng.

I was confused about my first acupuncture experience. Not really sure what to expect, but I visited to see if Dr. Ng could help with my neck and shoulder pain. He put in one needle and did some cupping on my upper back. I am not sure if it helped though. It felt relaxing during the treatment, but I didn’t really feel much better after the appointment. Maybe I need a few treatments, but it’s hard to say. The appointment is $ 95 for the first time and $ 85 for subsequent visits. Herbal teas are also part of the treatment (and additional mandatory charge). Perhaps I didn’t give it enough of a go, but I was a bit skeptical about the whole experience. I’m not sure if I’ll be back.
Other: Dr. Ng is patient and calm. He’s one of the longest practicing acupuncturists in SF.
Parking is a bit tough in the area. You have to park in a paid garage.

Dr. Ng is a treasure! I always feel better when I see him and I leave laughing. He has such a joy of life. I am so thankful to have found him! MEOW!

Dr. Ng is a true master. His skill is unmatched and his heart is huge. Anyone lucky enough to be in the hands of this doctor will be significantly healthier as a result. I’m so grateful to have found him.

Helped me when I was depressed, stressed out, anxious, had the flu, pms and all kinds of other problems. Also cracks me up with his random funny stories and starts acting or singing if you’re lucky. He gives you herbs, pretty old school, you need to boil them yourself at home and taste usually sucks but totally worth it. Strongly, madly recommended!!!

I could not walk when I entered his clinic. However, after just three treatments over three weeks, I was back on the treadmill running 3 miles without pain.
i’m not sure what he did, or how he did it, but the Dr. treated my whole person. I was a skeptic, but now I believe.

The reality is that acupuncture is actually more of an art than a science, and Dr. Ng is a true master of the art of healing. (My rule of thumb is «the worse the English, the better the acupuncture»… although his English isn’t that bad.) I generally go to see him when I’m feeling under the weather, and his treatments usually knock out the cold, cough or flu in a day or so. I’ve referred dozens of friends, usually with more serious ailments than mine, and it’s always followed by a «thank you and why didn’t you tell me about Dr. Ng sooner!» One note: he is very popular, so getting an appointment isn’t always easy, so don’t try to get a last minute appointment.

I was recommended to Dr. Ng 2 months ago by a longtime patient of his to help me with pain from a pinched nerve. I was able to get off the pain meds weeks earlier than expected, and my range of motion is now better than the doctors had hoped for. I’m now working with Dr. Ng on my general health (at my request, not his suggestion).
Echoing the other review, Dr. Ng is a very kind and gentile man. He likes telling funny stories and laughing. His office staff is very nice. I’m very happy to have found him.

Dr. Ng is one of the earliest certified acupuncturist in San Francisco. He is extremely well respected by his peers and his patients. He takes great care and in most sessions really take his time. He has a strong following of patients of all background and races. He also have will prepare the medicine on-​site while you wait, so you walk away with a hot coffee cup full of herbal tea. He has a wide variety of herbal medicine on site so you don’t have to go to a different store to get the herbs. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable as well.
