Dr Freeman is a great dentist. He offers great explanations of the services he recommends and does a high quality /​thorough job.
I would recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist, as it took me a long time to find a good one!

After years of avoiding the dentist’s office, a good friend of mine recommended Dr. Freeman’s practice. I finally bit the bullet (pun intended) after worsening and unrelenting gum bleeding. I assumed that I would be reprimanded for neglecting to floss, but was surprised to learn that while my gums were indeed a problem, I was suffering from a severe grinding habit of which I was completely unaware. Instead of scolding, frightening, or downright threatening me (as has unfortunately been my experience in the past), Dr. Freeman took the time to help me understand the problem, point out examples of trauma that had already occurred, and suggested a clear path forward to improve the issue. As a result I’m already more aware of my grinding triggers and have been fitted with a custom night guard to avoid future costly dental work. Although somewhat dubious about the guard initially, Dr. Freeman really helped me understand the massive benefits of such a device for my overall dental health.
I appreciate that Dr. Freeman and his staff are very comprehensive and transparent when it comes to explaining procedures, home routines, costs, and insurance coverage. On top of this, the office atmosphere is very friendly and everyone is crazy nice. I highly recommend Dr. Freeman’s practice anyone looking for a thoughtful and thorough Dentist and I look forward to working with him and his staff for years to come.

I have been going to Dr. Freeman for several years now and he has been great for all my general dentistry needs. The other day, I was having TERRIBLE pain (to the point of tears) in my teeth and called first thing the next morning to ask about it. They were able to get me in for an evaluation same day. Much to my surprise, I found out I needed a ROOT CANAL. What a nightmare! I have always been particularly jittery when it comes to my teeth, however Dr. Freeman put me at ease through the whole process. He explained the steps, what was happening, constantly checked to make sure I was comfortable and feeling ok, and even called that evening around 7PM to check on me. I’ve heard terrible things about root canals, and he made the process so easy. I would definitely recommend Dr. Freeman!

Dr. Freeman has a great approach to dentistry. I went to see him after moving from Boston and therefore, in need of a new dentist. Being in the dental field myself, I am very particular as to who I let treat me. Luckily, I met and spoke with him before I was even a patient and got to know his thoughts on patient care. I appreciate his approach to dentistry (preventative, conservative, and very meticulous).These are great qualities for a dentist to have, and in my experience, hard to find. I had Dr. Freeman make me a new night guard, and it is the most custom guard I’ve ever had made for me. He takes his time and makes sure that everything is perfect, which is so important! The staff is friendly, it was easy to make an appointment, and I really enjoyed my experience. If you are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend making an appointment.

Ken Freeman is a top notch dentist who was referred by a coworker. I arrived as a new patient after a dental emergency and the staff was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. Genuine and professional, I recommend the care of Freeman and his staff to all.

Dr Freeman has been my dentist for over 35 years. He has taken care of all my dentistry needs in that time with the utmost professionalism. I live in the North Bay, and recently decided I periodically could have my teeth cleaned by a local dentist and who commented «who did your gold crown work… amazing quality». Dr Freeman’s manner and communication is excellent, he always let’s you know where you stand and what your options are. He is thorough and takes his time to get it right, never hurried and always focused on the patient. His recommendations for specific procedures are always in my best interests. His work is painless and I never worry about leaving worse for the wear. Highly recommended.

High marks for Dr. Freeman and his team. I have been a patient there for 10+ years, and highly recommend them. My experience is excellent customer service, excellent dental counsel and work, and much appreciated preventive advice and care.

Dr. Freeman is the best dentist I have ever been to. I have always had very challenging teeth and gums, and have gone to plenty of dentists, but I always stopped going. Dr. Freeman really has changed how I feel about my dental experience.
He always gives me options for treatment and is clear about what each would entail. He listens to my concerns, and is generous with his time. I really appreciate how he is never disapproving of my teeth! In the past, I’ve had dentists tell me what a bad job I’ve been doing, shake their heads, make unhappy faces. Dr. Freeman is direct and honest but without judgement.
His staff is really nice and welcoming. And they sent me a birthday card! I have recommended Dr. Freeman to all my friends, especially those with dentist worries.

At the start of my visit, I told the dentist that I needed to spend all of my dental insurance money that day and he should take care of any issues I had. We discussed about $ 1000+ of dental procedures that I did not actually need because my teeth were in great shape. We decided these were nice procedures to have and so we went ahead with them.
As I was walking out of his office, he alerts me about a huge cavity that needed to be addressed. This is after I spent all of my dental insurance money. At best, Freeman is incompetent. At worst, he is a scam artist.

Dr. Freeman has been my dentist for over 25 years. He and his staff are knowledgeable, professional and caring. And I wouldn’t change dentists even though I must take time off from work and travel over 20 miles to see him.
Dr. Freeman is an experienced doctor, knows about my teeth and dental health, so I listen to his suggestions about what I need to do and any options available to me. He is a caring doctor and I really appreciate the times he calls me at home to see how I am after a routine dental procedure or a tough tooth extraction. And just last night, he called after hours to discuss options for a tooth replacement. I now feel free to make an informed decision about my options and possible costs.
I’ve also purchased two night guards over the years… although rather expensive at the time, they are the best preventative devices I’ve ever invested in and well worth the cost.

Been seeing Dr. Freeman for going on 8 years. He is polite, nice, friendly, and knows his business of dentistry. My gum health has improved significantly since he started helping me. I’ve had under-​gum cleaning procedures, and I get 3 checkups a year.
His staff is also quite nice and very pleasant. Very easy to get to his office (walking distance to BART/​MUNI). Not much else to say, highly recommended.
I should note that recently I’ve been focusing on the self therapy for gums he’s recommended specifically tooth pick use to stimulate the gums and in a few months my teeth and mouth are noticeably healthier. He is the real deal.

I started going to Dr. Freeman over two years ago when I worked in the same building as him; nothing easier than getting on the elevator to see your doctor! While I have changed jobs since then and have to travel a few more blocks, I’ve stuck with him.
He’s a very friendly guy with a longterm view about taking care of your teeth. The retainer and preventive care changes to my brushing routine were a hard sell at first, but I think they will be worth it down the road. His staff is just as friendly and have been good about prodding me to keep up with the brushing routine. Overall, very happy every time I leave his office.

If you are looking for incredibly thorough care and a thoughtful dentist then Ken is your guy. He goes above and beyond to inform you and treat you. He just recently helped me complete my implant procedure by choosing and installing new crowns. The process difficult and Ken afforded me a great amount of flexibility, his time and extra effort to make sure that the crowns were perfect. And they are just that… perfect. I am blown away by the results. The whole time I felt like Ken and I were on a team and that he always had my best interest in mind. What more could you ask of a dentist?

Something that I’ve found a lot of Doctors to have in common is just how limited they are in thoroughly explaining the details of a procedure or necessary steps to make to avoid certain health issues. Dr. Freeman and his staff, however, go above and beyond to make going to the Dentist a painless and educational experience.
As Dr. Freeman explained to me, too often are patients only treated for their symptoms without explanation on how to maintain their dental hygiene upon leaving the dentist. This in turn leads to constantly «needing» to revisit for purposes that otherwise could have been handled at home with floss and a toothbrush. So instead, once he sees potential for coaching, Dr. Freeman goes into detail giving reasons behind why certain symptoms arise and then expands on what could come about of those situations — his experience is very apparent in how fully yet simply he can explain what’s going on in your mouth and that’s really important for sustainability. Dental terminology, like most sciences, can sound more like jargon unless properly explained, so you’re sure to leave more knowledgeable.
And for those that are fearful of visiting the Dentist — Dr. Freeman and his team are very accommodating when it comes to distracting you during any operation. I had well over 4 hours worth of work done in a single day and hardly noticed anything besides the TV screen and comfy headphones. in any position, Dr. freeman made sure that I could clearly watch a few of my favorite surf videos or tune into an episode of Modern Family.
Bottom line, I left the dentist excited to take care of my teeth and had a fantastic experience. I don’t plan on being in San Francisco for much longer but the confidence that I gained in Dr. Freeman and all of those in his office will keep me coming back.

After not having been to the dentist for over 10 years, Dr. Freeman took me in, and fixed me up.
I had a root canal that was needed, and Dr. Freeman and his excellent staff made me feel extremely comfortable while they operated.
They go the extra mile to make sure you don’t feel any pain, and Dr. Freeman explains what he is doing so you understand fully before anything happens.
Between the excellent bedside manner, the liberal use of anesthetic, and the T.V. screen for me to watch while they operated, getting a root canal by Dr. Freeman was one of the most stress and pain free operations I’ve ever had at a dentist.
I no longer stress about dental visits and have been much more regular about getting in because I’m not worried about finding out I’ll have some horrible operation to go through.
In addition, the education Dr. Freeman has given me has helped me to change my habits and be more preventative than I’ve been in the past.
If you’re looking for a new dentist, don’t hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Freeman. You definitely won’t regret it!

I was a patient of Dr Freeman for more than 20 years, until I moved from the Bay Area. I never once considered changing to a different dentist. I trust this man. I’ve had implants (cracked teeth), root canals, crowns and regular cavities, but thanks largely to his emphasis on preventive care, my oral health, especially my gums, improved a lot over the years.
I’ve always felt I had plenty of time for questions and got as extensive answers as I wanted, explained in a factual, easily understood way.
As for the perceived hard sell some reviewers mention, I’ve never experienced it that way. I never bought so much as a tube of toothpaste at the clinic, but the welcome remained as warm as ever. I actually think it’s a good thing that a dental clinic proffers quality dental products — although at least back when I was a customer they could have done a better job of convincing me that their products actually were ones I should use. Giving handouts with third-​party research results to those who show some interest would be good for this, not pitches or vendor materials for everyone who walks in the door.
One last thing: love the staff.

Dr. Freeman is an excellent dentist. He really takes the time to listen to what your concerns are, is incredibly thorough, and explains all the options. I have been a patient for over 10 years and consider myself to be very fortunate to have him and his team taking care of me.
NIGHT GUARDS: I mainly am writing this review to encourage others who Dr. Freeman advises to get a night guard to please seriously consider this advice! I finally got an upper and lower night guard this year and it has really changed my life. I WISH I HAD DONE IT YEARS EARLIER. I may not be able to go back and repair the damage I did to my own teeth by grinding them down while I slept — but at least now I have stopped it from getting any worse in the future. It is also much more comfortable to sleep with than not wearing it because I am a lot more relaxed with it in and it takes a lot of the pressure off my jaw.
BOTTOM LINE: If Dr. Freeman recommends you get a night guard, he is looking out for your best interest as a patient — I highly recommend you get one.

Let my teeth be a cautionary tale to you: If your dentist says you should get a night guard, do it and wear it.
I arrived at Dr. Freeman’s office having ground off ~1/​3 the length of my teeth in my sleep over the past 10 years. This was truly preventable tooth damage that a periodontist told me would cost $ 35K (!) to fix — by putting a crown on *every* tooth in my mouth :(
I came to Dr. Freeman for a Plan B. After going through my history, a detailed exam and current dental care routine, we came up with plan to prevent any further damage and I can likely keep everything for decades to come. With a variety of options we found a plan that will work with my current behaviors (day guard? night guard that fits me better? changes to my daily dental hygiene routine? check, check and check) in order to prevent any further damage.
It can seem like he’s doing a hard sell but good dental hygiene begins with tools you’ll actually use every day and yes, tries to convince you to buy the flosser thingy that is easier for you to use rather than see you fumble than give up on regular floss, etc. And the night guard? take it from me: you can damage the heck out of your teeth by grinding. If you grind, do spend the money, get the guard, WEAR IT. A few $$$ now for preventing wear will save you $$$$$ later.

I have the experience of working in the dental field and it has allowed me to make a more informed decisions about who I wanted to see.
Can I first say that the front office folks are sweethearts? Yes, Cat and Gary are both very personable (always enjoy the «catch up» talks!) yet professional.
Dr. Freeman is a great dentist because of the following reasons:
1. He believes in preventing problems. I would much rather buy a night guard to protect my teeth from all the grinding I do at night than to have to may $$$ later to have implants placed in because of too much damage.
2. His bedside manner is also personable and lively. He is always smiling and enjoys a few laughs here and there. Lighten up people! Going to the dentist can be fun! Why make the «painful» experience more painful by being sulky and serious?
3. He will spend more than just 5 minutes with you during your consultation visit. He takes the time to really get to know your teeth.
4. He has an awesome assistant named Debbie!
The hygienist at this office are fab too– very gentle and never lacking in efficiency!
Their office is very clean and comfortable too… I almost fell asleep during my last cleaning because the chairs are so comfortable! Anyway, 5 stars from me for a job well done.

Okay. I had been seeing Dr. Freeman for 2.5 years. Regular checkups every six months. I love dental hygiene. I mean it. I love flossing and I love brushing my teeth. Sometimes I floss and brush after lunch. This is probably because I am genetically predisposed to weak teeth and I have had a million cavities. So when I was seeing Dr. Freeman, he told me that my gums were all swollen and I had gingivitis in a few areas. What? Fine. The dentist probably knows better than I do. I don’t have a DDS. So I continue to go to his office because all my coworkers went there. I had to refuse his constant badgering about buying a mouthguard and a Rotadent (look this up. i think this was something people used in the 80s before other choices showed up.) The dental hygienist cleaned my teeth during each visit and I never had to get a filling from him.
Fast forward 2.5 years later. Got a new job and Dr. Freeman was no longer in network with the insurance. Went to a new dentist. He told me I had SIX cavities. Ok, what the f. I had been to Dr. Freeman every six months for the last two and a half years and he didn’t let on about any cavities. Did they somehow appear within a few months? You’re thinking I went to a crook dentist, aren’t you? Me too, at the time. So I went to a second dentist, sent him the x-​rays from the old dentist without saying a word. Oh guess what, SIX CAVITIES IS RIGHT.
Holy freaking moly. Dr. Freeman either hated me and wanted my teeth to rot or he has no idea how to look at x-​rays. How could a dentist not catch 6 cavities? Turns out the cavities weren’t small either. I saw a picture of one. It looked like the decaying tooth of a demon in a horror movie. That crap doesn’t develop in a few months. New dentist said that it had been brewing for a while. You’re thinking, how did I not have a mouth in pounding pain with 6 cavities? I don’t know. It’s a blessing and a curse, but I never feel the cavities. My teeth have had so many fillings that they’re numb to pain.
In conclusion, while I was seeing him, I thought he was fine, then I switched, and it turns out my mouth wasn’t doing fine at all.
Do yourself a favor and check out some of the other negative reviews – I’m not the only one with cavities that Dr. Freeman just couldn’t see. Please do not go to this «dentist.»
