Labcorp

This is the best Labcorp I’ve been to by far. The gentleman at the front desk was really nice. Even though I went at lunch time, I was taken care of really quickly. There were only two customers ahead of me and I waited for maybe five minutes. I wished the Labcorps closer to me were this good.

Why is the blood draw-​er the same person who checks people into the lab? They seem to be VERY different skill sets (the blood lady is very slow at the checking in)! And during the most busy time of the day (according to their own website)?! Why is that single person — the blood drawer — on the computer for 20-​minutes, while the line gets longer and longer?! Zero people have had their blood drawn in the 25 minutes I’ve been here. At the same time, 6 people have been added to the line. Whyyyyy!!!

Make sure you have an appointment or be prepared to wait wait wait.

I have been to this Labcorp location several times, and had positive experiences. If you go in the morning, I suggest you make an appointment online to avoid a long wait. I’ve found walking in in the afternoons without an appointment is usually ok, and wait-​free. The staff is friendly and competent. Be sure to have your lab paperwork and insurance card with you.

Absolutely horrendously inefficient office. I arrived at 8:30am. There was only one staff member. Doing both intake/​paper work and administering tests (drawing blood). It took 30 minutes to deal with one patient. A number of patients became fed up and walked out. Lab corp near Sutter st is much better.

I’m a fan when I don’t have to wait an hour. If I had to compare this and the Post/​Divisadero one, I’ll take this over Post. I park somewhere on Gough– 2 hour free parking, and walk over. Jeffrey is a hoot. Make sure you bring the lab slip. Don’t think that they have it in their computer. Don’t assume it is faxed. Just bring it and no complications. They will triple check you are you. You can make an appt online. Avoid mornings, because everyone is fasting and people look hungry.

Go some place else. They never honor appointment times. Why bother with making an appointment if they take people without them first?
This place is close to my house but I will go out of my way to go elsewhere from now on.

Wow! Inattention to duty, laze-​fare attitude to clients and dirty as well. I had an appointment and arrived 15 minutes early for any processing or registration time needed. The two people in the waiting room had already been processed. Since the desk person was chatting up one client, I asked if things were running on time as I had another appointment across town in 1.5 hours. I was then informed that I’d be done by then. I clarified my question and was told I’d be help at my appointment time (and apparently not before.) I was called to the desk to start my paperwork processing at my appointment time and after that taken to the blood draw chair. As I notice the soiled tape on the chair and the torn upholstery and exposed form padding, I reached for my phone to snap a photo and was stopped by the phlebotomist. I was told if I took a picture, she would be fired. Really?! The facility needed to be shut down. You’ve been warned.

The last place anyone wants to be and you have to wait an hour, if not longer! Get more staff please!!! i’ve now been here twice — the first time was absolutely a nightmare, the second time i had the first appointment of the day and i was still there for 1.5 hours. Paperwork is completely manual and you have to wait 15 minutes just so they can input your information into the system. Also, confirm before you go: I do not believe Aetna does business with them (should be a sign!) You will be charged out of pocket if you go here and you are insured by Aetna!

The phlebotomists here have provided some of the best pricks I’ve ever had, and they’re funny!

Our experience was ok at first until I realized that the personnel working (guy) that time didn’t give me back my son’s insurance card. I called right away the next day and spoke with the same person. He told me he’ll mail it back to me. Well, almost a month after that incident, I still haven’t received anything in the mail. I called and spoke with him again and said that he mailed it and they don’t have it anymore. Should’ve known better that this will happen. Booo!!!
Don’t go to this place. Very tiny and doesn’t really look like a real lab.

The absolute worst. The complaints others have written happened to me too. Staff person is rude, slow, has difficulty completing basic paperwork. Bad attitude. I did not think it possible going to a lab could be that awful.

I never thought I’d be reviewing a place like LabCorp, but people who are equally creeped out by getting their blood drawn (who isn’t?) need to know about this location.
I am certainly not a fan of LabCorp. There’s not much to say for customer service when it comes to dealing with the corporation in general. And, as others have said, this particular office is small, bare bones, and full of stressed-​out people. I would advise calling ahead if possible to get a recommended time to come, but at the same time, there’s only one staff member there acting as both the admin and lab tech, and they may not be able to answer the phone.
You can also schedule an appointment online, but it’s hard for them to honor the time if there are several people there. If you’re going, I’d suggest bringing reading material and a plan to breathe very calmly. An iPod wouldn’t hurt if you’re really freaked out by needles, because if you hear the repeated snap of latex gloves one room away while you await your test, that might not bode well.
All of that said, I am so thankful for Natalya, the sweet woman who has done both of my tests. Bless her heart, I’ve seen people be so unfriendly to her on during the check-​in process. (It’s not her fault LabCorp is run like it is.) She has remarkably done the impossible — drawing blood twice without me losing color, fainting, sweating, or generally crumpling into a pitiful ball on the floor. Let her know you’re nervous and that you can use her help distracting you, and she’ll have you laughing immediately. This is truly impressive work on her part, as needles have always my number-​one phobia. And, she was quick and done in no time.
In summary, one star for the corporation and five stars for Natalya, my new phlebotomist hero.

Absolutely rude!!! The guy that works there has serious attitude issue! (apparently he works at other locations most of the time)
It was my first time in many years doing a full body check up, I went to my doctor in the same building and she sent me down to LabCorp to run some tests. I brought all the documents and samples on the front desk for him.
He asked me if I am «fastened», I had no idea what that meant, so he explained and I answered «no, I didn’t eat since last night», then out of nowhere with a annoyed, unprofessional and rude attitude, he asked me again «so are you fastened or not? yes or no?» He didn’t see the sample I put on the front desk for him, so he went on with the same horrible attitude «You didn’t tell me you are doing two tests». Wow… i am just a confused patient, do you have to give me a hard time like that? Other then that the test ran smoothly, but i am going to avoid that place in the future.

For all you folks that need your blood drawn… DO NOT GO TO THIS LAB! I work in the same building and one of the employee (if I knew her name I would write it) does not wash her hands every single time I encounter her with me in the restroom. She darts right out the door! EWWW!!! I am not the only employee in this building who has witness this. So if you don’t want your blood to be contaminated do not come here!!!

I made an appointment to make sure I could be drawn first thing in the morning so I wouldn’t have to do any actual fasting. 4 to 6 waking hours with NO FOOD. *gasp*
The lady tech/​receptionist was pretty nice. She’s no nonsense, get the job done and when she noticed I was trembling, she asked if I was okay. I think she was afraid that I was going to pass out and she’d have to deal with me and the three people in the waiting room but it was nice of her to ask like she cared.
For the faint, here’s a warning! She took three vials of my blood and then shook them. I heard my blood swish today. *_​*
I didn’t pass out and ate a Bob’s donut to celebrate.

This place is terrbile – dirty old building, you wait FOREVER and they make you pay $ 75 up front regardless if you have PPO insurance that will cover everything.
The only good thing – nice older gentleman who drew my blood was very pleasant and kind.
The CPMC Lab is way better and faster but, if you go to doc outside of Sutter Health network they will sent you here:(

Seven words of terror I hate to hear: «You need to have blood work done».
(Cue Dracula organ and vampire laugh track.)
I, too, am absolutely terrified of needles and the whole blood taking process. The lady at Labcorp was one of the sweetest and most caring health care professionals I’ve ever encountered, and even though I started hyperventilating and going into the panic zone, she still made me feel at ease and made sure I was okay after the whole process was complete.
If you have to get your blood taken, this is the place to do it. No vampires here.

**This Review is Not For the Squeamish**
It’s yearly physical time, which means it’s time to make sure everything is as fabulous on the inside as it seems on the outside. Which means blood test.
*gulp*
The last time I had blood work done, the phlebotomist (the technician who performs the blood draw) told me I must be dehydrated as she plunged the needle unsuccessfully into my arm. Then as she went for the other arm, I watched as a nice, big hematoma formed (that’s kind of like a bruise, people, only this one was the size of a ping-​pong ball — and very ouchy!).
Soon after the successful draw, the technician had me run my arm under a cool faucet, suggesting that I ice my arm once I got home. Once home, my roommate at the time (who works in health care) took one look at the crook of my battered arm and said, «Wow. I’ll bet it was hard for her to get anything out of that arm. She hit your artery.»

Well, today at Labcorp, the lovely blood-​tech successfully hit the right vessel with minimal pain, and now, as I remove the big cotton-​ball band aid, I see not even a bruise. Only the slightest little red mark.
Let me mention that I’m TERRIFIED of needles. (yeah, so what if I’m an acupuncturist… they aren’t hollow, giant needles inserted into blood-​rich vessels, sucking fluid from your body!) After I expressed this, the tech was very soothing, cracked jokes, and finished the job in just a few minutes. No drama. Minimal pain. Just the way I like it.
Maybe I have low standards, but when it comes to someone sucking fluid from my body via a hypodermic, I want it to be as painless as possible — and I want it done FAST.
Today’s experience exceeded those expectations, and now I will patiently await the results of my tests, praying that my cholesterol is still hovering at a nice, low level. I’ve still got a couple of good years to enjoy foie gras and I don’t want a little thing like high cholesterol to interfere with my consumption of this tasty delight.

have been here twice. first time, no problem. quick, in and out, fairly painless. second time, changed my insurance. spent at least 20 minutes walking the «receptionist» through all the changes (i.e. — spelling, numbers, etc.). surprise! i receive a bill stating that my insurance is no longer active and i owe lab corp money. they moronically submitted to the old insurance.
well, i call the lab, inform them of their error. their response was «i cant do anything for you, call the 800 number». wtf??? its your mistake, fix it. im currently on hold… its been almost 10 min. thus this little rant.
