Time: 1:16pm/64°F sunny Purpose: Place was scheduled for a visit back in June. Never felt it was important as reviews weren’t rampant enough, not income worthy. Ambiance: From the outside, it look like a single car garage converted into a cafeteria. Heavy gauge security bars and gate mounted in front. No sidewalk seating just ad board with to-go menu in makeshift box. Tables are mostly set up for six people with clear vinyl covers, mismatch chairs. Total capacity of 40. Couple of frame artwork along with jukebox, single door beverage fridge and television(off). Color scheme is beige with orange copper tone trimming. Unfinished cement floor with light scoring line across wall to wall. Mostly calm vibe never more than two patrons inside while there. Staff: One girl and older gentleman both extremely friendly. The guy does all the cooking and prep work while girl does front end work. There wasn’t any recommendations or pressure to eat or purchase. I take it, as business is doing good, but deep inside there were signs that says otherwise. Girl just stood there like day dreaming or confused. Told her I’m ready, and out comes receipt book. Cleanliness: Grade B, chunks of cement falling of edge near corner even when painted over. Remember place wasn’t set up for eatery, but some how converted and pass the city planning department. Rest of the place is clean as all tables are cover with clear vinyl table covering. Eats/Drinks: Lengua burrito $ 8.50+taxes comes with chips. Chips weren’t the freshest or tastiest. Looks store bought in bulk bag like Smart & Final Montecito brand. Yellow round shape corn tortillas with no crisp to it. Salsa were not house made and tasted like La Victoria. Burrito was forgettable. Wasn’t good at all, as soon as I unwrapped foil the tortilla was laughable. Either chef just didn’t care or he just don’t know how to make a burrito. The ends were unraveling by itself wasn’t wrapped tightly. Flour tortilla had a weird taste like toss on grill meant for something else. I almost gag when I took a sniff. Lengua wasn’t enough given to be call a super burrito. Piece were in small cubes without seasoning. Not moist or tender just a piece of unidentifiable meat. There wasn’t no fresh taste perhaps nuke. Rice wasn’t fully cook with center hard and grainy. Rest of the filler was at minimal sour cream, guacamole, cheese were all a pinch here and there. Totally not worth the price listed. Wash it down jarritos tamarind soda $ 2. Main Features: Huevos A La Mexicana, fajitas, super prawn burrito. Products/Services: Burrito, taco, quesadilla, dinner plate, egg dishes, seafood, sides/extras, postres, agua frescas, domestic/imported soda, sat & sun specials. Choice of meat-carne asada, pastor, carnitas, pollo asado, chorizo, lengua, cabeza. Television, jukebox, takes plastic($ 10 minimum). Punch Lines: Residential/business neighborhood, Close-together table, easy night out, laid back, calm vibe, kitschy décor, light bites, off putting, nothing special, sleeper, quite bland, not as great, go elsewhere, itty-bitty. Tradeoffs: You’re paying super burrito price, but getting a regular size in return. It’s just a regular size with cream cheese, cheese, and guacamole for a $ 1.50 more. You’re dupe thinking getting bigger portions. Final Thoughts: Sometimes when a eatery is out of the blues away from the main drag. Most would think a hidden gem right? Well, it wasn’t a hidden gem here. I’ve a feeling most have eaten here numerous times, but just don’t bother writing a review. This is mainly because they don’t remember anything memorable here. Come if you wanna meet up with your buddies in a clandestine atmosphere with no care for gourmet eating.

Wonderful family restaurant hidden gem in the mission. Had the mole and was spicy and delicious. They are only a year old so not surprised to hear there were some kinks early on but they have worked them out and are serving wonderful Mexican food. They have free art and cooking classes as a way to give back to the community. This place won’t stay quiet for long once word gets out. Started because the longer from Mexico wanted to start a restaurant with her husband and children

We ordered 2 more pupusas & fry banana with beans. FEEDBACK pupusas were eatable, the fry banana and beans NO, the chicken enchiladas NO, our coupon(groupon type) was mot even valid according to the waitress. wow. what a disappointment. Maybe it’s a good Salvadorian restaurant. NOT for Mexican food. We had a $ 25 off $ 50 Restaurant .com gift certificate. Clueless server who wasn’t sure what was available and was not helpful. Strange mole, that appear to have no chocolate. just a tomato sauce. Decent fresh guacamole. Shrimp in mojo de ajo. had no sauce, no garlic, no flavor. ceviche de cameron(shrimp) appearerd to have no shrimp in it. Chicken soup came as a big bowl of flavorless vegetables in broth, with a plate with a FRIED chicken hindquarter with rice and simple salad. without looking at menu, we ordered 3 small fruit«aquas», and saw on the bill, they were $ 9. Pupusas would have probably been a better choice. The bill was $ 75; after the $ 25 discount .$ 50, for three of us. We could have happily pigged out all over the Mission for $ 10 a piece. I like to support local small businesses, but this place is over their head and WAY overpriced for the quality of the food. Sorry.
