Latch, So & Hipp Chiropractic

I’ve had the opportunity to have adjustments by Dr. Candice multiple times. She is gentle, patient as well as instructive, explaining each adjustment.
After not having an adjustment for quite sometime, I went an for an adjustment and the next day I felt great, as if my whole body were «aligned».
I also had the opportunity to have a professional massage there by Jessica — it was great as she focused on areas that needed the most work.

I am glad I visited Dr Daniel Latch… I can say that my back hadn’t feel this great in years! I have only been to 3 adjustments with him but I have felt great since the 1^st one! I completely recommend !

TL;DR: They are first and foremost a business. They will look to make money. Be wary of this and make your own best judgement on whether or not you really need them. Highly recommend seeing other chiropractors to get a second or third opinion. You only see the doctor for about 5 – 10 minutes per session and that itself is pretty pricey (around $ 50 – 100). Dr Candice So is nice, but be careful and do your own research. Alex the receptionist/​translator is horrendous and does not give a shit about patients.
My experience with with LS&H has been pretty awful.
I am a 23 year old male that is in good shape. I work out regularly and eat healthy.
I first found out about LS&H at a festival in San Francisco in which Doctor Candice So was giving free examinations to see if your back was in good shape. She told me to lie down and she did her thing. She was very respectful and attentive and asked questions about my habits to better diagnosis if I had any problems. At the end of it, she recommended that we come in for a more detailed examination with X-​rays, of which she would give us a big discount because we discovered them at a festival. I decided I would go with it.
A few weeks later, I showed up to the examination and a few more weeks later, I came here again to hear my results.
This clinic specializes in subluxation and treatment for it.
My diagnosis was that I was having beginning signs of stage 1 of subluxation. Dr So explained ways I could begin ways to ameliorate this, such as sleeping on your back, sitting up straight, using a vertically mobile standing desk at work, etc. But the best way to take care of it was to pay the price for her treatment.
She sold it pretty well; I could tell she had quite good experience with her salesman pitch. You’d first hear the «full price», then the broken down price if you pay monthly, followed by «discount price» which would be a bit cheaper than «full price» if you pay it right now. This still amount to about $ 2600 out of pocket (my insurance did not cover chiropractic treatments).
I was a bit skeptical about my diagnosis. Nobody at 23 has back problems and I had no pain. Dr So had mentioned before that no pain doesn’t mean nothing is going on; that your body could just be adjusting to your spine that could already have problems.
I paid an upfront amount for 2 treatments
Now why the one-​star?
I had been extremely skeptical about the whole «phase 1» of subluxation thing to begin with. On the 3D scaled down version of a model they show you the differences between each stage. Stage 1 is damn near identical to a healthy spine. Any doctor could say that you have stage 1 and you would not be able to tell if she was saying it just so you’d pay for treatment or if she really cares about your health and your spine. The x-​rays also did not convince me that I needed treatment. Dr So circled a few things saying they needed attention, but they looked normal to me. I later got another opinion from another chiropractor, who said I had one of the best looking and healthy backs she’s seen all day.
The main reason for the one star is the reception guy named Alex and possibly Candice So.
The follow up appointment for my x-​ray results was the last time I ever went back there. I had to cancel my second treatment because something came up. I had started sleeping on my back more and I asked my manager at work if it was possible that I could install a stand-​up desk. He said he needed proof of my «phase 1» of subluxation. So I emailed LS&H. My email went unanswered, so I called them.
The person who answered the phone was Alex. I asked to speak with Dr Candice so that I could ask her to write a note verifying that my situation would benefit from a stand-​up desk (not even x-​rays or a long winded letter. Just a short note). I was put on hold for about 5 minutes. Another lady picked up and asked who this was and what I wanted. This time, I just asked to speak with Alex. I was immediately transferred to him.
After stumbling with his words for two minutes, he finally said, «Uh, sorry but we don’t provide our services to those who aren’t our customers.» To which I said, «I’m not really asking for services. Just a letter to get a standing desk which would greatly help my back, like the doctor said. Besides I still have one more appointment for my second treatment.»
He put me on hold again for 4 minutes and said the doctor just came back from vacation and she would soon get to it. I asked for an estimated time (it’s a simple letter or email. Either works. It takes less than 5 mins). He stutteringly said he doesn’t know. 4 months now, and nothing, even after multiple friendly reminders. Each time he would stutter surprisingly and try to dodge the question, put me on hold to «ask the doctor», then promise that it was coming.
What they want first and foremost is your money. Your health is secondary.

I’ve been getting chiropractic care here for over a decade. I used to think it was fantastic. I recommended it to friends and family. My care seemed tuned to me and tuned me up! However, recently I feel like I’m just a patient number and the care seems automated and routine.

I’m so glad I found Dr. Hipp! Her positive energy is so refreshing! I needed to find out exactly what was wrong with my pelvis and after the x-​ray, I found out even more… my neck was not curving the way it should be from an accident many years ago (which explained random neck pains & headaches). I now go in for regular adjustments & I’m slowly getting back to normal… I can hike & run & walk upstairs again without major pain. I definitely recommend Dr Hipp and this practice (+Alison the massage therapist ;) the front desk assistants are so friendly too, they remember my name! Thanks!

Dr. Hipp is a rockstar! I’m being treated by her for the last month and have already seen and more importantly feel the difference in my body. The staff is courteous, friendly and professional. I have already recommended her to some of my family and friends!

Dr. Daniel Latch is amazing! I’ve been seeing him for over 3 years and it never fails to impress on me his professionalism, friendliness and just badassness at being a chiropractor. He knows his stuff and I leave each session feeling like a million bucks. I see him off and on and twice weekly if my posture has killed me.
He genuinely wants me to be healthy and feel better and goes out of his way to accommodate my schedule, last-​minute run ins and budget. He is truly amazing. i wish every doctor was as wonderful as Dr. Latch. What a professional.

dr. Hipp! She is amazing. I have been seeing her for nearly 2 years weekly. She know how to take care of her clients. Her professional and honestly goes along way. her assistant Ming Ming, always take care of me. I love coming here and will be coming here for years to come.
If you need a reputable Chiropractor, Dr. Hipp is your gal.

My review is for Dr. Hipp. She is the best! Her approach is so positive and upbeat.
I had two accidents within nine months, and although my Dr. recommended physical therapy I could feel my vertebrae crunching during the neck exercises and was in excruciating pain after every visit.
I saw Dr. Hipp at a booth at the Chinese New Years parade, and she was super friendly and approachable. She knew exactly what I was talking about and just seemed to understand. The goal was to keep my neck in alignment so that I wouldn’t cause permanent injury by holding my neck improperly due to the pain.
I went to her office the following week, and had to sit through all of the paperwork and X-​Rays on the first visit, but I’ve gone in three times a week for a good neck poppin’ and I just love it. I think everyone should get chiropractic adjustments on the regular.
She also has me using a Denneroll corrective pillow for twenty minutes a day at home and it helps with the daily alignment required for my neck to heal properly.
They take insurance and there is parking at Post and Van Ness.

I started a new job and my back pain was getting considerably worse — when I got introduced to Dr. Candice So, it was like a match made in heaven! She always accommodates me with appt times that work best for me and makes it clear that she cares. But the best part of it all, ever after 1 week of seeing Dr. Candice, my back at work improved significantly and she gave me tips on what I should be cautious about doing during my daily routines. Not to mention her staff members are super nice, and during the first visit, they took time to explain everything to me and educate me.

Dr Candice is a really good chiropractor, she is accessible for emergency and regular treatment, she treat my 3 kids and us. She knows what to say and how to say it, to make you aware of your bad habits. She is really good with kids as she is patient, kind, and she really care. The facility is clean and confortable.

Dr David Latch is my hero!
I woke up Friday morning with EXCRUCIATING pain on my lower back, by Saturday morning I was totally paralyzed by the pain, crying and afraid. This was more painful than the 2 children I gave birth to! My daughter called Latch Chiropractic and withing ½ hours I was able to see the doctor, the staff was super nice and I was able to get all the help and attention I need it on the spot. By Saturday evening I was able to walk again. Today is Sunday and I will go to my friends house for dinner! Monday, another visit to Dr Latch and I am so looking forward to it! I need to say thank you too!!!

I just started a new job and I’m literally busting my neck … Dr. Katie Hipp totally fit me in for an adjustment and recharged me. I am also so happy to find her assistant Ming Ming, again. She has great hands, too!

I’ve started seeing Dr. Kenneth So in September 2013. I was skeptical in seeing a chiropractor, but my neck was in incredible pain & «suck» for a week so I was desperate for relief.
Reading the reviews here on Unilocal,yes it is true, the first appointment is usually long as hell. You usually sit around for a few hours filling paper work, xrays, talk to the nurses/​doctors about where you have pain and read/​discuss about subluxation. But after that’s done, the usual waiting time is around 5 – 45 minutes depending on what time and day your appointment is. The waiting room is usually full of people on a Monday.
So how was the service? AH-​MAZING. I’ve seen Dr. Kenneth So over 20x (And checked in most of the time too!) In the beginning I didn’t really feel like going to see a chiropractor was doing my of a difference until I realized that I stop having body aches. It wasn’t until recently when I have stopped making appointments for over 2 – 3 months that my body has started to ache again. It literally felt like I forgot how bad my body pains were until they came back. I didn’t believe it myself!
Dr. Kenneth So is also extremely gentle and experienced. I never had pain or felt hurt whenever I had my neck and back adjusted. You just hear a loud cracking sound, but NO PAIN. Dr. Kenneth So is also super nice and also goes beyond my expectations because he really shows that he cares not only in how your progress is going but also how you are mentally/​physically in your life (like asks how my diet is, how I’ve been feeling, how’s family, small talk that shows that he cares)
I also wanted to add that I had been seen by his daughter, Dr. Candice So once when Dr. Kenneth So was out of town. I must say, she is not as experienced as her father. I’m sure she is still just as qualified, but it was the first time that I felt like an adjustment hurt. It took her 2x to crack my neck when it usually takes one time for Dr. Kenneth So to crack my neck smoothly and pain free. It’s just something I noticed.
The only CON that I can think of is that it is expensive. IT IS SUPER EXPENSIVE to be seen by a chiropractor. If you can afford it, it’s DEFINITELY WORTH getting seen. Even if you don’t have MAJOR problems like a car accident, if you can afford it and have the time, I think that seeing a chiropractor is definitely beneficial in your health.

Use to come here couple years back. cuz of my back spin!!! Thank god insurance cover the therapy. Cuz this place cost a lot per hour. x-​rays cost over $ 100.00. Which funny they said insurance doesn’t cover… do you believe that ??? N I paid out of pocket.!! Started with an hour therapy then slowly gone down to 40 – 30 minutes hahahaha!!! Even with appt. Still wait while before is your turn… So I stop coming here !!!

DR. HIPP is the best chiropractor I’ve ever had! I wasn’t felling well the last two days after moving a bunch of heavy stuff. I called in for an apt ASAP I was lucky and got an appointment with in two hours. I went in w/​pain and walked out feeling great no pain no pills needed just an amazing chiropractor Dr. HIPP is all I need thankyou so much.
I’ve been coming since 1994 all the doctors are excellent but Dr Katie HIPP is my favorite! I recommend this place to anybody!

Unfortunately, I’ve been in two pretty bad car accidents. Fortunately, though, I’ve received treatment from Dr. Daniel Latch both times. The first accident consisted of my sister rear ending a car on the freeway at 50 mph; a four car pile up! I was 17 at the time and after a few weeks i felt great & I really didn’t want to go to my appointments anymore. He called a few times but was not pushy at all. He told me that I had a curved spine and that I would benefit from continued treatment for preventative measures. Boy, should I have listened. Four years later, I got pregnant with my twins and my back was constantly achy, from the beginning. I was finishing up college and working so continually put off going in to see him. After giving birth, though, I could not take it anymore and went in once a week for about a month and felt amazing after!
January 2013, I was then side-​swiped by a huge truck while my cousin was driving and didn’t understand the concept of who has the «right-​of-​way». Yay me, another accident. The following day, Dr. Latch fit us both in and we began treatment right away. After 8 weeks, I felt so much better. I now have 4 appointments scheduled per year to help maintain a healthy spine :)
After these few years I have come to learn a few important things about Dr. Dan-​1) He truly cares for his patients. I’ve yet seen him turn someone away for not having Med Pay or health insurance. He’s extremely accommodating for those who want treatment but not the funds for it. 2) He actually listens to his patients! He gives great feedback and provides extensive at-​home exercises and activities that can help relieve pain, even after concluding treatment with him. And 3) He knows what he’s doing! Some people don’t «believe» in chiropractic treatment bu with Dr. Dan’s experience and skill, it’s hard not to!

I’ve been a patient of Dr Candice So for more than a year now and I couldn’t be happier. She is sweet, a good listener and a good doctor. Since I started I’ve noticed a great improvement and I am really thankful for that.
And the staff! They are all really nice and helpful, always available and eager to solve any problems you may encounter.
Choosing them will be one of your best decisions ever!

I have been seeing Dr. Candice So for about a year now and I feel great. The first few months I was seeing her a lot to help heal all that was going on and get me to a good place. Now I see her once a month for an adjustment.
The office staff is friendly nice and accommodating. Dr. Candice is patient and kind, she takes her time and you can tell she really cares. They are really great to my kids when I have to take them in and they are really great for last minute appointments.
Parking is pretty easy even though it’s on Van Ness, I haven’t ever had a problem. I do prefer to go in the morning before the meters start.
If you have been putting off seeing a chiro, it is well worth it, as it is a vital part of keeping your body healthy and can effect all parts of how it functions.

I’ve been going here to see Dr. Candice for just under a year now.
I’ll start by reviewing the office itself first. The office is very professional and clean. Depending on when you go, it can be very busy and bustling to nearly empty. The staff is polite and helpful but once you go after your first visit or two you just sign in and wait for the system to call your name over the loudspeaker which will also tell you what room to go to.
Dr. Candice is very thorough and precise, answering all my questions and always directing attention to the areas of my body that are causing me problems/​pain. To be honest, at first I didn’t believe in chiropractic care and thought it was just a scam. After Dr. Candice explained the theory behind it to me, it began to make more sense and my body started to feel better throughout the course of our visits.
I came in with lots of lower back pain and stiffness and tin under a year the pain is almost gone. I’ve been dealing with this pain for over 5 years with no relief until now. I’m very grateful and thankful for Dr. Candice’s healing hands.
