After years of working as a staff attorney at a local non-​profit organization, John Robert Unruh decided to open his own law office to better serve the people of California with their legal needs. John’s practice puts clients first and is deeply committed to securing optimal outcomes for every client he represents.

I can’t recommend John enough for help understanding a potentially messy divorce. He’s patient, knowledgable, and empathetic.
John responded immediately to my e-​mail for a consultation and got me in the same week. In person he was calm and kind, even when I got a little emotional describing my situation. John spent nearly an hour explaining his process and steps I should take to protect myself — And didn’t charge me a dime.
John was very quick to answer my follow-​up questions (think minutes). If my divorce proceedings head south, I’ll definitely be calling John.

John really saved our lives!
An extremely cantankerous bitter 85 yr old member of HOA, sued the HOA and all us members as individuals for damage to her unit from a storm. It was one of the worst experiences of my life bc we were not dealing with someone logical or sane. She was on a war path and wanted to take everyone down, even though her claims were totally meritless. It is very scary when you are dealing with someone not based in reality. but John crafted a legal strategy to help us win our case.
John helped me prepare for months, and rehearsed for the court date. I know John is very busy attorney but he always made me feel like i was his top priority. and he worked diligently and went beyond what i expected! he found a loophole in law that he submitted to the court, which basically dismissed her suit against all before the trial. her only remaining suit against the HOA still went to trial, but Johns cogent arguments and legal citations really made it easy for the judge to see her case was baseless and more importantly that she was a complete ding dong. Case Dismissed! Hooray! Thank you!

John R. Unruh, Esq., assisted me with a very troubling collections case. This case, in terms as the size of the claim, was relatively small, but in terms of the amount of anguish it had caused me, was fairly large. The Defendants in this case were challenging, and the circumstances of the claim were fairly complex. Mr. Unruh did a wonderful job for me.
Mr. Unruh has a unique mix of expertise, strength and compassion. His ability to analyze all aspects of a case, and condense them in a way that I could easily understand, was very helpful. He never lost sight of the fact that the client is what is really important. This requires a great deal of skill when working in an adversarial legal system. He was sympathetic, honest and direct. He empathizes with all perspectives and gave me much helpful advice on how best to proceed.

John resolved, in a matter of a few months, an issue that my family and I have been dealing with for 4 years. The case is related to my Mom’s U.S. Federal Government retirement (OPM). We had all but given up hope that an error in calculating my Mom’s retirement payment amount would ever be fixed, given that we were dismissed, ignored completely by the person at the government agency who is responsible for her case. John knew exactly what to do in order to get the case unstuck. John is kind, dedicated, and tenacious in dealing with complex issues. What our prior attorney could not do in 4 years, John handled in a matter of a few short months. My Mom this week received notice that the government is more than doubling her retirement payment, and paying her back retroactively for prior year under payments. I went to John for a contract I needed drafted. I’d had no prior experience dealing with lawyers, but John was great throughout. He took the time to answer all the naïve questions I threw at him, and kept up great communication. I was initially very worried that I might be taken advantage of, but he his calm and knowledgeable demeanor put me at ease. The resulting contract turned out great, and he made sure to take the time to review it with me so I’d be able to answer any questions that came up in negotiations myself. I also found his fees to be very reasonable versus the other attorneys I contacted. I’ll definitely head back to him should I need any other legal help in the future.
