Description

Specialties

I believe in relationships — with self and with others. I believe in the power of them to heal and help us grow — to challenge us and bring us closer to ourselves. I have always been in love with love.

I adore working with couples and facilitating their growth. I love when we go through some hard material, some hurt, misunderstanding or disappointment is thick in the treatment room. And then something happens, something palpable shifts. A greater understanding and empathy emerges and each member of the couple is reminded of why they have chosen this person as their partner.

I also work using EMDR and Somatics. The concept of «embodiment» is key to Somatic Psychotherapy. It is the full acknowledgment that there is no separation between our «selves”/our «psyche» and our bodies; the link is impossible to sever even as we distract and avoid. EMDR is a highly researched trauma treatment which dramatically accelerates psychological healing.

History

Established in 2010.

I have spent over 15 years exploring my own mind/body connection, relationship skills, and personal potential through yoga, meditation, hypnosis, triathlon training, rock climbing, cycling, and fire walking. My graduate degree is in Somatic Psychotherapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies — and I am thrilled to have found a program that incorporates so perfectly my varying areas of interest and passion. I created Yin Warrior Health, a program designed to heal our relationship with food, body, and weight, and BodyAwake, a unique form of holistic fitness which heightens physical and emotional sensitivity. I am also a co-founder of Vitality Management Consulting, an organization working in San Francisco corporations to enliven managers and employees to self-motivate and maximize effectiveness in the workplace.

I am particularly drawn to working with couples in varying stages of distress. I enjoy teaching communication skills and attachment styles and thrive on disrupting old patterns to allow for new experiences of healing and connection. I work largely from a Formative frame, but also include Attachment Theory and Stan Tatkin’s Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT). All couples welcome!
