Love Shack

TLDR: Love Shack has gone downhill, and it not what it was. It’s a rather sketchy dump now, with aggro people behind the counter.
I was sorely disappointed by my (first) experience with them, after reading good things, but perhaps it’s best to just relate my experience there, and let you, the reader, form your own opinion on the matter.
I had just renewed my card, and my doctor gave me a coupon to check out the Love Shack. I walked over, signed in, and when I walked in, I expected «one of the oldest and highest rated» cannabis clubs to be… well. not this; it was a dingy, dark, walk-​in closet with a front door. I did *not* expect the sketchy vibe of a back-​alley drug deal with a front door.
But anyway, I was excited about my purchase, so to heck with it, time to buy.
So I take the two steps from the front door, to the counter in the middle of the room, and excitedly mumble to myself, «Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen!» (to the buds), whereupon this guy with greying dreadlocks behind the counter yells (yes, yells, in this tiny little room), «Ladies!!!». I look up, smiling, because he has to be joking, right? Well, he wasn’t joking, so here I am, the only customer in the place, and everything just ground to a halt, total uncomfortable silence, with everybody frozen, and staring, trying to figure out what was going on. To be honest, at that point, so was I. (trying to figure out what was going on)
It was at this point that it popped into my mind, that if I were a girl, I’d be freaking terrified right now, with this aggro freak in front of me, and the door just locking behind me in this sketchy little room with these 4 guys.
So, this dreadlocked customer-​service genius and I are just standing there, staring at each other, for what feels like forever, but was actually about 30 seconds, when another customer walks in. Then staring at me with this petty look on his face, starts helping the guy behind me, that just walked in, making a point to ignore me.
At this point I just said F-​it! and started to turn around to leave, (I’m in my mid-40’s and don’t have time for grown men who act like A.D.D. children overdue for their Ritalin.) when another guy comes from the back, and asks me what I want. At this point all I wanted to do was leave, so I just said, «How much for an eighth of OG Kush (my perennial favorite of many years), at which point Dreadlock Aggro-​manchild steps in *again* (even though he’s *busy* with another customer) he starts pointing at the price-​board in the back, and making smart-​ass comments designed to imply I can’t read or something. Helping me with my purchase, he has no time for, but smartass comments to a new customer that he *should* have helped, but was currently being helped by someone else, well, apparently he has *all day* for that nonsense. :-(
So anyway, the guy helping me grabs a jar and starts filling out my order. No apologies, heck he wouldn’t even look me in the eye, he just kept giving odd sideways glances at Dreadlock Aggro-​manchild. Took a few seconds, but then I realized there was no apology coming; this guy was just trying to get me out of there as quickly as possible, and frankly I should have left already. I mean seriously, how many ways can a 3 minute purchase go wrong?
So I get home, and check out my Love Shack purchase. (normally I check stuff out as I buy it, but I just wanted out of the place, and apparently they did too. So as soon as I open the bag, I realize something is amiss; I have been smoking OG kush since it first came out of L.A. back in the day, and I know it well. I also know many other strains well, esp. the old «stinky» strains like Sour Diesel and Cat Piss, etc. and what I had in my hands was not OG kush that I’ve been smoking for a decade+, it was an obvious Sour Diesel cross. But that wasn’t the worst part; the worst part was that the weed was still damp. Damp as in making 10 oz. of weed sell like 11 oz. I left it out to dry overnight, and tried it the next day. The weed was decent; not amazing, not horrible, just rather average
Conclusion:
So that was my first (and last) impression of the venerable Love Shack. With it’s previous good reputation, I’m simply going to assume the same thing has happened here, as happened at the Bernal Heights Collective; new (a$$hole) people riding on the rep of the previous business, by maintaining the same name/​location. Either that, or they’ve gotten too arrogant for their own good, and are simply in decline. With places like the Green Cross just down the street, I suggest the Love Shack gets its crap together while it still *has* a business.

Gotta show some love for love shack. They’re not only the oldest (fun fact) they’re also the bestest (in my opinion).
Their friendly/​courteous, professional, and patient, never have I felt rushed. I was also happy to learn recently that one of, if not my top favorite strain (lavender) is a staple there and almost always on the shelves. In an industry that’s just as trendy as fashion, it’s refreshing and very relieving and comforting to know I can actually have some consistency if I like, which i DO, in quality, strain & prices which are very reasonable. Just knowing a tried & true medicine IS most likely available & there for you when you may need it is comforting in itself without even having it. They also do any dollar amount. So if you forgot to stop at an ATM or don’t want to or pay a fee, they’ll clean you out and take you for what you got, even if it’s an odd or small amount. No problem. ;)
They’re the best bang for my buck and I prefer them over anywhere else currently. Though there are some other nice clubs I do appreciate elsewhere, like Spark in SF & Magnolia in Oaktown. ;) between them they all have me quite spoiled. :P

First club I went to after receiving my doctor’s recommendation. It was an easy place to miss and I actually walked right past a couple of times but that has more to do with my powers of observation than anything. Nice, fairly priced. I liked it and, if you’re going to MMJ’s, this place is only a couple of blocks away so that’s convenient, nay?

if you want transportation to a place that seems exactly as it might seem, take a walk from Mission and Fremont, and convince yourself into spending your last few dollars for
somedicine…mozy through residential fantasma and beam up into Loveshack, spacecraft exotica. Just smoked to jointage possible point LoveShack in SF shows a lot of love 20% off new patient count out changes for a gram of Amnesia Haze and its got spaceglue. Shhhh…(!) love shack shows it traverses spacetime extracting spaceglue from the farthest replicatori frequency evasion emanations– the Love.

Love Shack was probably the 2^nd or 3^rd Club I ever went into back in the day, ten years ago and it sill is going strong today.
Great strains, easy going customer service and fair prices. As far as shops and clubs go, the shack is certainly a spot I remember and cannot wait to visit again since renewing my card not too long ago.

Chris was helpful and made the experience here a great time. I look forward to my next visit to Love Shack. What an awesome spot!

Love Shack is definitely the right name for this dispensary. I come here when I’m in the area and to be honest the staff are well knowledgable with the variety of strains they carry. One of the best budtenders is Craig he’s always in a good mood and can carry a conversation about anything and everything. Don’t come there expecting a hookup come there knowing your about to get some well priced buds and great quality.

Wax is out of this world. I recently tried to go somewhere else to try wax and I was reminded of why I travel all the way across town rather than getting delivery from another place more conveniently. wax is very much butane-​free for you here. They know how to make their product correct here. Other clubs have the soupy and nasty butane stuff that’ll make you choke and get shortness of breath ext or at best have a small selection of one or two good products this place has a plethora of wax which is just happens to be my bag baby yeah

i like this establishment alot. Cool and gracious counter staff. Good product. In fact some of the best presented and quality product around .

I haven’t been here in a while, but I would come here on the regular when I smoked.
I was always grateful for the service. The people working there were nice, and the prices were good. Plus, they’d offer me a lighter every time. It’s the little things like that…

I don’t bother coming here anymore because they are really rude, never have good product and the parking is horrible.

I go here often to get wax, and its always good. When I get bud I’m also always happy with it. The staff are also quite friendly, and very helpful. When I first started going here I almost thought they were a bit unfriendly, but once you’ve been there a couple times you realize it’s just a laid back place. No complaints. c:

I give them 4 stars for not having debit card, lab test or have a real lounge to chill in, but other than that, I’m very pleased with this place. They treat people really well there. They actually take the time to ask you for your name and if you’d like them to load a bong hit for you. I think a lot of places don’t realize how far customer service can take you. I expect this place to become a bigger competitor in the coming years.
EDiT: They have a 7 gram for $ 60 deal going. Surprisingly good bud. Check it out.

I group dispensaries into two broad categories (with many establishments populating a spectrum between) 1. Comprehensive clinics (such as sparc, [or C. H. A. M. P., if you remember those guys, and boy how I miss them.]) 2. Places that sell you meds.
Love Shack is the latter. Do not expect consistently friendly or knowledgeable staff (but there *are* staff there who are.), do not expect additional services, and do not expect a vapor lounge
Here is what you *will* get:
1. Consistently good product. (although the price to quality ratio on some strains fluctuate.) However, the product tier I regularly purchase from never disappoints.
2. A pretty darned decent selection of concentrates, at pretty darned decent quality. (at least as far as the stuff I purchase.)
These two attributes alone keep it at four stars, which says a whole lot because this place is as basic as it gets otherwise.
This is fine with me, and probably any other patient who knows what they want and are at a stable place in their medication /​dosage regimen.
If you are a new patient and need guidance, or a veteran to the system with questions about trying new meds/​delivery methods/​dosages, put a pin in this place and come back to it. (especially if you feel uncomfortable asking questions. Not the most polished customer service.)
But once you get all that worked out, you’ll probably be able to consistently find the better versions of of what you need here, at fairly reasonable economy.

This place, The Love Shack, deserves all the praise it gets. It is one of the better examples of how a small place can function on top level and outperform some bigger places with lounge areas.
First, the selection is very good. But the selection is usually good in a lot of places. What’s different is the selection of variety things other than flowers. They have edible, topical, and smokable items which are more diverse than at many other places.
Second, the prices are competitive and honestly good as well. I didn’t buy any this time, but it was great to see $ 10 per gram prepackaged nugs. They were careful to actually package these nugs carefully in the baggies. Really nice seeing what you’re getting and that it was carefully packaged.
Another nice item I found here but nowhere else is a disposable vaporizer which was available in four varieties.
Third, and very important, reason why this place is good is the two salespeople I talked to on separate visits were very knowledgeable. This is not always the case in dispensaries. We all know general knowledge about what we are buying, but these guys knew detailed answers about each item.
Not much else to add. Good location next to the coffee shop, but businesses shouldn’t be rate based on location. Smoking is allowed inside and the glass pieces can be rented.

I reviewed the love shack a couple days ago and had a great experience. I just traveled across the city to get here and was turned away with the same recommendation I brought in two days ago.

Tried this place, the apothecarium, and releaf herbal center.
This place has by far the best bud. It is strong and looks and tastes natural. Worth every penny.

Great but very small place. They said they have a lounge area you can smoke your medicine in but it’s really just the storefront — about 10×10 where everyone else is standing. Prices were decent — and like most dispensaries — very very cool people. Which is always great.

Quite medicated right now! :p I never doubted the quality, but this is so potent! I’m a first time patient. best in sf (that iv’e come across). I picked up some Platinum OG, and LA Confidential.
Best cut of Platinum OG i’ve had. Prices are higher than some places but its worth it. A little goes a long way… for real. I can’t wait to try the LA Confidential which, by the way, looks amazing! I’ll post pictures later.
Prices are high, but you get what you pay for, so they actually aren’t THAT high when you think about it. The question is, «what is affordable?», but really, $ 5 extra dollars isn’t THAT much. It’s just a mental game anyway! Just imagine they don’t include tax, and what’s currently $ 60 is now $ 55… Pay the tax and its $ 59… It’s the same price either way. Jedi mind tricks! Love Shack, surprisingly, isn’t more expensive when you think of it that way, and really, you get a bargain instead because this bud is the top shelf of the top shelf!
Security was friendly, and the staff was nice, and showed me lots of options. They weigh out your flowers before hand, and pick off the stems when they weigh your medicine! I wanted some strong Indica’s to help me sleep. I’ve always been a fan of the Platinum OG, and I’ve had the LA Confidential CBD, so I can imagine what i picked up today is all that but way more potent.
I picked up an ¹⁄₈ of the Platinum OG and it smelled amazing. Sweet, and sugary piney OG. not terribly pungent, but sharp (If that makes sense)… covered in crystals. Very potent. Then again the nugs are pretty tight, and I could have underestimated what I smoked? At any rate, a little bit goes a long way.
The La Con looks incredible. Covered in sparkly trichombs. I shook the bag up to release a bit more aroma, and its almost overwhelming, and boosts my high just a tad. :D I’m definitely looking forward to trying the LA Con tomorrow.
Edit: The La Con is amazing. Super potent, super long lasting. I’m a night time smoker, and what I felt at 6pm, is how i usually feel around 8−10am. I still prefer the Platinum OG. Both are incredible though, for sure. Some of the best medicine I’ve ever had.
I can’t see myself going anywhere else to be honest. :D

Staff was polite, knowledgeable, respectful and attentive. Prices were fair, if on the high side. The staff didn’t seem incredibly stoned, which was impressive. All dispensaries should operate with this level of professionalism but at this point they do not.
After shopping here for a few months, I have to edit my review. The tincture I have bough has varied in strength so much that it has become a bad idea to shop their now. I used to get really strong stuff, my last 3 times it has been so weak it barely works. The inconsistency also makes dosing very difficult. By the time I figure out what a good dose is, the bottle is empty. I have the same complaint about the edibles. Quality control has sorely suffered and, sadly, I have been forced to find a new place with more consistent product. It’s too bad.
