Where to begin?
First…Let me say… that I am not a glammy glam girl, but I knew I wanted someone to do my make up for me at my wedding.
Mark was sweet enough to agree to do it for me (on New Years Eve outside of the city no less!!!) AND he came to a girls night beforehand to do a practice run through. He was sweet and not only did my makeup, but during the practice, gave my girlfriends and I a bunch of tips we could use every day. I have followed his advice and and difference is amazing!!!
The day of the wedding he made himself available with plenty of time to keep me from getting stressed and totally put me at ease. He made me look done, but not overdone. Just what I wanted and needed. It was perfect.
His humor and grace make him such a delight to be around, that I know if I am going to do anything fancy in the future, I’ll reach out to him and see if he can work his magic again.
Thank you Mark for making me feel confident and beautiful on our incredible wedding day. It meant the world to me!

Mark did our makeup for my wedding, and I can’t just tell you how amazing it was, I have to show you. I’ve been holding off on writing a review because I wanted to get the professional photos back because phone snaps weren’t detailed enough.
I should start off by saying that I don’t makeup. If I’m going out, I’ll throw mascara on and maybe a lip stain that I will then forget about all night. But Mark made me look beautiful, evened out my skin (which, yikes, that’s a job) and I didn’t feel like a pancake monster all night. In fact, even when I forgot to gently blot and just swiped my hand across my face, I STILL looked amazing! And my lips and eyelashes stayed on the whole night!
Mark also did makeup for my grandma, who looked half her age, my maid of honor, who looked like a perfect porcelain doll, My boss, who tends to look fabulous anyway but looked stellar for the wedding, and my sister, who looked like a beautiful secretary in a 50’s porno, which is «exactly what I was going for, thanks for noticing!»
Obviously I’m not planning on getting married again any time soon, so I’m gonna have to come up with excuses to get fabulous! Thanks Mark!

Where do I begin? Mark is an amazing human being, so sweet and fun, but his makeup is AMAZING. I hired Mark to do my makeup for my wedding and even though only a few of my bridesmaids had said they wanted him to do their makeup before the wedding, after seeing my makeup the day of the wedding, two more bridesmaids and my mother jumped on the train! We all looked AMAZING. He was prompt, professional, kind, funny and everyone loved him and his work. I could not recommend his work any higher. I felt like a queen on my wedding day because of him. Thank you Mark!

Definitely recommend Mark for all your future make-​up needs. He was kind enough to take me at the last minute and do my make-​up for an event I was going to. I had a time constraint of about 30 minutes and he made me into a fully realized demon! Looked great and Mark was incredibly kind and respectful the entire time.

Mark has done my make up many times! From photo shoots, to public appearances, to my wedding, he has been my beauty rock: D Not only does he have an expert eye for flattering designs, but he is an absolute blast to be around!
Out of anyone who has ever dolled me up, Mark is THE BEST!

I am definitely a make-​up novice. I went to Mark for my ‘wedding makeup’. I was a little nervous because I don’t like anything heavy or obvious.
He did exactly what I wanted. Made me feel totally comfortable. I even got a ton of tips along the way! I left feeling like a princess!!!

Mark was absolutely wonderful. He fit me in last minute and even watched a documentary on 1920’s styles before I came over for a flapper girl makeup job. He was so easy to interact with and sent me off to my party looking absolutely glamorous. I will certainly keep Mark on speed dial for my next party makeup needs:)

A last minute costume idea — pink glitter cat mask as the inspiration piece — Mark fit me in last minute, painted my body feline pink, added fabulous cat eyes, lashes, blush, lip gloss & dubbed me glamour-​puss.
I was a little uneasy about a hard pink line at the top of my neck, so he happily experimented with another approach. Such a pleasure to work with. Thank you Mark!

Love this guy! Excellent ability to understand as well as create what you are looking for! If you are looking for everyday make-​up, or costume or special occasions or events — you will not find a better artist to create your look in the Bay Area!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I love Make Up Mark! He has done my make up for over 7 years and it’s always been exactly what I want and way better than I could ever imagine. He has so many different styles and ideas that I could have had a different look everyday if I didn’t fall in love with so many of his awesome looks and excitedly request them as soon as I sit down! Make up Mark not only is an amazing artist but an amazing friend with a huge heart! He was pretty much my therapist, mother, the gay father I always prayed for in catholic school, BFF and anything and everything inbetween when I’m in that chair!!! Lol!!! He will always be my 10 year old daughters favorite guy in the whole world… This amazing make up artist woke up earlier than the sun on Halloween to be at my place in Martinez at 6am to surprise my little mini me with the most amazing zombie make up I’ve ever seen!!! Make up Mark is THEE best make up artist I have ever experienced (and it is an experience) being that I’ve been in the entertainment industry for 7+ years and one of the most amazing men I have ever meet. He will not only leave you looking and feeling like a supermodel but he’s going to make you feel at home, make sure you’re comfortable, make you laugh your ass off and make you feel like you’ve got a new bestie! I love you Markie!!! I love your style and I love being in your chair laughing my booty off and looking like a freaking superstar when you’re done! Couldn’t ask for more! Def will post pics when I get to my computer and upload them! Make Up by Mark is your best choice! Seriously. And I Unilocal the hell out of everything (like to find what I want) and I don’t review unless it’s an epic find. PS my make up last for days and looks amazing the next morning even after a wild night out… gross I know but I just hate washing it off sometimes… don’t judge me… lol

Make-​Up Mark has 15+ years of experience in various makeup applications. For me, it’s always a treat to have my makeup done by Mark, as he captures personality, ingenuity, and originality. He has an uncanny ability to capture the desired effect with surety. He is very versatile.

I can’t rave enough about the quality of work that Mark produces! His expert skill set and quick application process will leave you wanting to have him do your make up for everything. I’ve witnessed him do beauty make up for clients, full body paint transformation for photo shoots and editorial, and love seeing his creativity at work for drag make up!
I’ve personally had him do theater looks, Halloween looks and also drag on me, and have loved it! I’ve been his model for classes that he teaches at Kryolan, and it’s so impressive to see him engage with his students and really break down the process of applying make up. Everyone had a blast and by the end of the day they were superstars! He makes you feel comfortable right away with his charming personality and jokes. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my make up. Tell all your friends that Make Up Mark is the best and hit him up for whatever type of event you need! He really does it all.

I’ve had the pleasure of both working beside Mark, and seeing his gorgeous work in action, on numerous occasions.
Last year Mark generously donated his time to help me with a face painting booth at a Halloween block party for families and children. He pulled off one fabulous off the cuff look after another and particularly had the kids’ moms lining up! He has great rapport and conversation skills and is a joy to work with!
I’ve also seen Mark do makeup ranging from classy night-​on-​the-​town looks, to theatrical faces, to full-​face transformations for the likes of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. All have been executed with imagination and skill.
I highly recommend Mark for your next event, special occasion, or production.

Seriously Mark is the best makeup artist out there. He is extremely versatile in his work, ranging from character makeup for Halloween/​everyday fun, to glamour, to weddings and beyond! He is the only person I have ever let do makeup on me, because I just don’t trust anyone else! For me he has always done Drag-​style & Halloween makeup, but I have seen a ton of his work for professional photo shoots & also the work he has done for Miss Universe is absolutely GORGEOUS! You NEED to check out his work and book an appointment with him ASAP, you will not be disappointed!
