An awesome café and great radio. The Djs have a eccentric taste witch make for an interesting mix of music.

Though it’s not a café any more, it is a stellar gallery space and event space for local bands, activist groups, poets, painters, comedians, hip-​hop artists, and people with their own nonprofits to meet and discuss everything from politics to the wide range of eclectic music played on the speakers.
It started small in June 2011, but by March 2014 this little collective has grown to include Spanish-​language programming, French-​language, and even Greek! Thousands of listeners tune in to hear shows with progressive politics, current events, electronica, classic rock, psychedelica, new music, local music, folk from around the world, blues, heavy metal, soul, good hip-​hop, funk, and stand-​up comedy shows! The shows range from concerning women’s rights and LGBT issues to the labor movement and immigration.
Independent and owned solely by the collective members there at 21^st and Florida in the Mission District, it’s a lot of fun to meet new people there and the DJs often invite guests into the booth to hop on the mic!
And that’s not even mentioning the awesome open mic shows every Friday that include all of the above (sometimes at once!)

After reading the reviews I was so looking forward to the bacon maple latte last night when I went to see my cousin do an in-​studio performance & interview. But, alas, the café is no more {sigh}. It’s radio only now, but it was still cool to sit in on the show.

The café/​radio station and bacon maple latte made famous by Anthony Bourdain on «No Reservations» lives on! Originally known as Pirate Cat Radio, the station and café are now Mutiny Radio (after a split with the founder).
The café struggled for a bit last year when it was staffed only by volunteers from the radio station, but the service and drink quality have really picked up under the new owner, Enrique. He’s added fresh empanadas and ice cream to the menu, and is planning more additions.
The Bacon Maple Latte is still front and center on the menu, and is worth trying at least once. Some people love it, some people not so much. You have to drink it while it’s hot, so either drink it quickly or bring a friend to split it with. There are a bunch of other unique espresso drinks on the menu: cayenne mocha, tiger eye chai, etc.
But the real attraction here is the radio station. A big glass window separates the radio studio from the café. Mutiny Radio has an eclectic mix of DJs and it brings all sorts of interesting live performances and happenings into the café. Friday 4 – 6 is a great open mic hosted by SF beatnik legend, Diamond Dave. Friday nights there’s a free comedy show. Saturday afternoon there’s often great local indie bands. Enrique the owner is also really into film, and projects interesting stuff on the wall in the evenings.
Basically Mutiny Radio is a great example of what makes San Francisco great. Come for the Bacon Maple Latte, stay for the culture and community.

You’ve been scoutmobbed! I’ve had bacon in all kinds of form such as chocolate covered bacon, bacon wrapped hotdogs with creamcheese, etc. but definately NOT in my latte. Needed my boost before heading to the Beach on a beautiful Saturday morning and remembered that I had my scoutmob deal of (50% off) for this place. SCORE!
It’s on the outskirts of the mission, not in an overly crowded area, and hidden between the residential homes. Parking can be tough but was easy for me. The place is small, indoor seating and outdoor seating with live radio (liked the music that was playing). Unique local art or featured art that decorates the walls.
HEFFER-​STYLE STATUS
Pastries — Had none. They get their pastries fresh in the morning so whatever is out, is out. No bagels left, No plain pastries left, and only 3 pastries not to my palate liking were shelved for display.
Maple Bacon Latte ($ 5/​scoutmob $ 2.50) — Latte with nautural maple syrup and itty bitty bacon bits sprinkled ontop. It was SO good, i think i could have been find without the bacon and enjoyed my latte with maple syrup (so sweet and delicious). The itty bitty bacon bits seemed more for decoration and barely added any flavor. wish there was more flavor extracted from the bacon, i think i’d enjoy it more. But still enjoyed this drink and will classify this as one of my favorites.
Will I be back? HELL YAH!

The Café with the Secret Crumbles (more on that later)! Second time I’ve been in here, sort of by accident since I don’t live in the Mission — the first time the barista was very friendly and made an excellent latte. The second time was today where I met with the very friendly owner Enrique, who is a film graduate born and raised in San Francisco on a mission to transform this little café into a business. He has a great vision for the place, and it’s unique — a café that has (today) a recording room where DJs and talk show hosts hang out — the «ON AIR» sign was on when I was there and it was the day Etta James died, so her music was playing on air and over the speakers. I watched the talk show host interview someone. And the coffee was excellent, I saw bags of the good stuff being dropped off, and made just to perfection. Their secret sauce was the cookie offered with the coffee — a «sweet digestive» and a very unique tasting cookie (my daughter totally loved it, and wants to go to the «cookie restaurant» tomorrow). And there’s heart and elbow grease in the place everywhere, which the owner acknowledges needs more work and sprucing up, and the service is above and beyond your imagination. Give it a try!

These people rock! Had a great time hanging out, listening to the radio show and drinking maple bacon lattes! The woman who was the Batista was fabulous. It was a really fun place to hang out, great lattes, interesting discussion on the radio. Overall a successful Saturday evening.
