Description

Specialties

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with more than twenty years’ experience helping individuals and couples explore and understand their relationships.

In the past few years, I have focused on people who are divorcing, or considering, divorce. I help people who are in crisis over ending a relationship, and I teach them how to divorce with dignity and respect.

I am a Collaborative Divorce Coach, and in that capacity, I work with a team of professionals to help couples settle all of their issues without going to court. I also work as a Coach outside this model.

What is the difference between a therapist and a Coach? A Coach does

not necessarily help you explore your past as a means of changing your life. Rather, a Coach helps you focus on your strengths, and learn how to use them in this time of difficulty. A Coach is more likely to suggest strategies and techniques for communicating with your ex. A Coach is more likely to challenge your assumptions.

History

Established in 1986.

I have been a Marriage and Family Therapist for more than twenty years. In my career, I have worked with addicts and alcoholics, with abused women and their batterers, and with juvenile probationers. The work that i enjoy most is with people who are divorcing or considering divorce.

Meet the Business Owner

When your marriage falls apart, you may feel like the most awful person in the world, and your self esteem may sink like a stone. You are not awful; you are divorcing, and that can be painful. I will help you find your strengths and I will teach you how to use them.

Attorneys know the law, but they do not always know about the emotions that go along with divorce. For that, you need someone who is an expert at understanding feelings such as anger, loss, and abandonment. Natural feelings, but they can weigh you down.

And what if you have kids? Twenty years ago, fathers were not so involved in kids lives as they are today. This involvement is good for kids, and it can complicate an already difficult process, as parents learn to share parenting responsibility from two different homes. I will help you create an age-appropriate parenting plan, and help you learn to co-parent your children, how to communicate with your ex, and how to move on with your life.
