I have to admit I was initially skeptical of joining Outco, especially considering how much money and time I had just spent on a coding bootcamp, but after attending the first class, I was absolutely convinced joining the program was the right decision for me. Outco helped me regain the confidence and motivation I had lost from the numerous interviews I failed. More importantly, they provided me the structure and detailed planning I needed to quickly land a job. I appreciated how the Outco staff gave me a very personalized experience that focused on improving all my weaknesses. You can easily sense their passion in helping people and wanting you to succeed.
After just my first week at Outco, I was already beginning to walk into interviews with much more confidence. This proved to be extremely helpful as I was able to quickly land a job offer during my second week in the program. From that perspective, if Outco can help you land a job a month or two faster than expected (which I believe they can do), the program basically pays for itself and more. Even after landing a job during my 2^nd week, I still attended all the remaining classes because they were that fun and interesting. Overall, I had a positive experience and would highly recommend Outco to anyone considering the program.

Outco is an excellent resource to provide structure, knowledge, and motivation for your job search process. At the end of the process I got a job offer as well as made friends in the tech industry that I plan to stay in touch with. The two areas where outco offered t he most value are algorithm training and interview prep.
Algorithm training: coming out of a bootcamp, I definitely lacked the understanding of algorithms and data structures to be ready for any technical interviews. The only resource I could find was the cracking the coding interview book, but without a c.s. degree, that book was way too hard to understand. Outco bridged that gap by presenting a structured curriculum that can be easily digested by someone without a computer science background.
Interview prep: Outco helped me to flush out my resume and cover letters so they are air tight, and I was able to apply to jobs with confidence, knowing that I have presented my best self in my resume. They also taught the process and technique for various interview types, and we had regular white boarding practices in simulated interviews. Knowing the exact process and what steps to take during an interview definitely helped me to be more confident when faced with timed interview challenges.
Overall, I highly recommend Outco for anyone who want to brush up on interview and networking skills while searching for the that perfect technical role.

I took the 4 week work shop at the end of last year. We focused on resume/​interview preparation and confidence building as well as technical skills in data structures and basic algorithms. The Outco coaches were outgoing, engaging, and were passionate about helping their students land software engineering jobs. I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with them as well as other students. The technical skill building were taught mostly in a programming language-​agnostic environment with a leaning towards Javascript. In our course there were Javascript, Python, Ruby, and Java programmers. Personally, I am a java programmer.
The coaches also pushed all their students to apply for jobs and to set up interviews. I was very lucky to land a job in the last week.

They can give you very personal attention. They are helpful and responsive. I’d definitely recommend for those needing a little more practice in the interview process.
Their technical curriculum adequately covered the most common interview concepts, but it could be more challenging… and you just got to ask them for more difficult content.

My Outco experience delivered results and I highly recommend Outco to anyone who need a boost in starting their software engineer career.
Outco has a very organized structure in helping students to success in the job search. Outco showed me how to build an effective job application pipeline and show me how to package application I have built. I gained much more confidence in doing white-​boarding and talk through my application design.
Joining Outco is one of the best decision I ever made.

I was very impressed with Outco, and I would recommend it to others who are looking to sharpen their interview credentials for tech jobs. I found their curriculum to be very thorough, and their teachers are dedicated to your success. Andy (also the CEO) and Ron are amazing technical lecturers. David helped me immensely with my resume and interviewing skills. Steven was the first contact person I had, and he made the school seem very welcoming. Overall a very positive experience. I received an offer 1 week into the program, and I’m a happily employed software engineer!

By the 4^th week after finishing their curriculum, I had received 2 offers and was waiting to hear back from 3 other on sites. My Outco experience certainly delivered results but perhaps a even bigger tell about the value of their job placement process is how much help I received during the negotiation/​final phases of my applications. I received great advice from Andy regarding the overall strategy to take while juggling multiple offers/​waiting to hear from multiple on sites. David sat down with me and perfected every email that I sent out during the final phases of negotiation. I can’t say enough about how much this helped.
Overall, I’ll just mention what I found to be most useful as someone who graduated from App Academy.
+ I learned to build a blazing fast application pipeline. By the end of this process, my applications were fully modular, customizing for specific companies/​roles took me less than 30 seconds from start to finish.
+ I become an expert at doing phone interviews. Went over 3 mock interviews with David and Steven, during which they provided me with very useful feedback. Outco’s interview lecture provided me with a solid understanding of what first round interviewers are looking for. I got better at talking about my software development experiences in relation to the job qualifications; I also got better at talking at a higher level when describing engineering technicalities.
+ I gained more confidence in doing live coding sessions/​technical screens/​on sites. I had in a lot of practice at talking through white boarding/​system design questions. This process forced me to become acquainted with the technologies I used /​architecture decisions I made for the projects on my resume. I got much better at talking about them from a high level down to the specifics. I never improved my handwriting. but my whiteboard layout became much better.
+ I became less of a pussy about rejection by talking to the Outco team and learning from their perspective.
+ Great people to work with. I made my decision to enroll in their curriculum after meeting Andy and Steven in person to talk about their curriculum. My advice would be to talk/​meet everyone on the Outco team.

A friend recommended Outco to me after I had been job hunting for a month post Dev Bootcamp. The program started with giving me great pointers on bettering my resume and online profile. The staff there obviously did a ton of research and understand what companies are looking for and how to best stand out from other bootcamp grads.
The 4 week curriculum dedicates about 70% to practicing algorithms, reviewing data structures, teaching system architecture, and providing an overview on other common technical questions. The remaining 30% covered the soft aspect of the job hunt like negotiations and body language.
By the end of the 4 weeks, I was able to secure a job with a company I really liked. I think Outco is for anyone who is struggling to get phone screens or pass the technical rounds. It is also for anyone who needs the support and accountability that a program provides.

After about 3 – 4 months of fruitless search after finishing a bootcamp, I was getting pretty frustrated and demotivated. I was also dealing with «an impostor syndrome» due to the fact that the job I held previously had nothing to do with software engineering (bizdev). I felt like I was a fraud, and no one will ever want to hire me as a full-​stack software engineer after just N months coding. These feelings were further reinforced by the fact that I wasn’t hearing back from employers or just getting canned rejections upon resume submission. All in all, it was a pretty miserable situation.
And then I heard from Steven at Outco via LinkedIn. At that point, I got matched up with a contract opportunity via some connections, but I still wasn’t getting very far with companies. Without much to lose, I signed up to be in their first «official» cohort (they ran a few beta cohorts previously to test teaching materials and the program structure). Before the program even started, Steven and I met in person and changed my resume entirely. I thought that my resume was pretty good (I put many hours into creating it), but I was oh-​so-​wrong. It definitely needed some major re-​work, and improvement was 10x. They also work with you on improving your social media presence (LinkedIn, Angellist, Hired, etc.) and cover letters. As far as classes themselves, there are 2 portions of the program: technical and non-​technical.
In the technical portion, they go over data structures, algorithms, architecture, and other most common software engineering interview topics. You then practice white-​boarding with your classmates, and they work with you individually to figure out how you can get better. I have also personally learned a lot not only from Outco guys themselves (specifically Andy, since he was in the industry before) but from my classmates as well. I felt like they de-​mystified the white-​boarding process for me to a stage where it became a more fluid/​natural experience (albeit still not a fun/​enjoyable one, go figure).
In the non-​technical portion, they work with you on 3 main areas: developing confidence, selling yourself, and negotiation/​getting paid for the value you bring. Developing self-​confidence in my software engineering skills and beating the «impostor syndrome» was definitely the most valuable outcome of this for me. I was able to realize that I can step into a new job, and provide value at perhaps a faster rate than somebody with purely theoretical CS training. The skills you learn in a fully immersive 10-​hours-​coding-​per-​day setting are as close to an actual job environment as one can experience. There is certainly some CS theory that is important to learn on your own (ex:
), but it’s not a deal breaker and in no way invalidates your abilities as a software engineer. I personally needed that drilled into me in Outco classes before I could take that confidence with me to job interviews. As a result, I got an offer at a large multinational company as a software engineer on their infrastructure team.
In conclusion, I think that you need to objectively access your situation and decide whether you’ll benefit from all the additional training and resources that Outco provides. If you feel confident in your data structures/​algorithms prep, and can confidently whiteboard these things, you’re in great shape! If not, I would definitely recommend that you check out Outco. There’s no formula that applies to everyone, but Outco is doing a fairly good job distilling the sometimes obscure «technical interview» process to it’s most basic learnable components. I was fortunate enough to land a job fairly soon after graduating DevBootcamp, but the company just wasn’t a great fit. It was time to move on, so I joined Outco in hopes that they’d give me the skills necessary to present myself best to companies that I actually wanted to work for. They did not disappoint.
Outco will provide you with everything you need to show your best self as a software engineer. From re-​doing your resume (game-​changer in itself) to practicing whiteboarding, you’ll get the coaching and practice needed to succeed in your job search.
Perhaps the most impressive part of my experience in the program was how much they helped me prepare specifically for each interview I had. While there are general non-​tech and tech lectures, this is not a cookie cutter program. They intentionally set a smaller class size to offer the most tailored experience possible.
If you’re looking for a job in software engineering, it’s as simple as this: join Outco, do exactly as they say, and you’ll be on your way!
In closing, I landed a job at a much better company shortly after completely the program.

Outco gave me the skills to tackle technical interviews with a new confidence. Many problems plaguing graduates of bootcamps such as Dev Bootcamp, App Academy, CodingDojo, etc is that, although we have the skills to be a great software engineer, we get in our heads and feel as though we are imposters after a few disheartening (and sometimes mean) interviewers. Outco helps us not only be able to solve/​successfully white board many technical algorithms and data structures, but teaches us to have an inner confidence in what we do, something equally as important (maybe even more important!).
If you are a bootcamp graduate and feeling down that you can’t seem to find a job or be given a chance, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! And you can get the help you need!

All the members of Outco are very fun intelligent people! They spent hours aiding me with the job application process! I got a job in SoCal!

Job hunting is not a fun process. It had been 6 months since I graduated from my bootcamp and was having a really tough time getting the attention of hiring managers and recruiters.
Non-​technical:
David spent a whopping 3 hours combing through my resume to make sure the wording was just right, reviewed and tweaked my cover letter and AngelList profile. Steven and David also kept close tabs on my job process (they will push you and keep you focused!). I kind of felt like I was in a bootcamp again (okay not as bad; although I’d probably rather redo my bootcamp experience than to redo my 6 month job hunting experience…)
There was also live phone screens, whiteboarding, and mock interviews with lots of feedback (not just from instructors but also classmates). These exercises helped me the MOST during my time with them.
Technical:
They are still new, so I would say the lectures are still a little bit rough around the edges. However, they cover important algorithms, data structures, and system architectures.
Note: I applied to mostly Front End Engineering positions. So the problems that we went over in class, didn’t translate to the questions normally asked in a Front End dev interview. But I feel like there are a lot of online resources for this (like:
). Outco’s focus is definitely on Software Engineer/​Full Stack positions, but for me, I needed the non-​technical help which they provided.
What I got out of Outco:
At the end of the day, job interviews and its process are all subjective, there’s no perfect formula to 100% guarantee you’ll get a particular job. But for me personally, I needed someone there to push me to apply even when things felt bleak and showed me how to represent ME the best way that I could. So this is what I gained from Outco: confidence, feedback on how I present myself, how to communicate clearly (verbally and via whiteboarding), and constant support from teachers and classmates.
As an impartial person, I’d say before you sign up for Outco, do your research (which I guess is what brought you here), find other alumni who have gone through this program, and figure out if what Outco provides, is what you need. Outco helped me, but I can only speak for myself and my own experiences.
