Papyrus

These greeting cards are expensive and expect to pay $ 4 or more for a card. The designs are unique. They don’t carry the quantity and variety of greeting cards that I would like.

Just bad customer service. I used to work for Papyrus. So I know a little about the company and how they’re supposed to greet their customers etc., etc. When we walked in the team member was slouched over the counter and gave us a dirty look. I know it was close to closing time but is there any excuse for someone to act that way when you are shopping in their store? I think not. I love their products and have continued to shop there but the rudeness of this salesperson really turned me off.

Call me old fashion, but I enjoy shopping for greeting cards, and once in awhile when I receive them, it makes me happy. Not that I don’t appreciate, e-​cards, e-​mails and texts, just that having a hand written card is much more personable and from the heart. I have bought cards for a wide variety of occasions, including birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Christmas, congratulations, thank you, and sympathy.
It was a Sunday afternoon at the mall. Bunny and I did the unthinktable and entered Papyrus! Being a high rewards card member with Hallmark, the mere thought of being inside that store made me sick to the stomach. However, it was a desperate time. A coworker, a close and dear friend had given me short notice that she was moving and the next day would be the last. I had no choice but to act on this fast!
Thnking back, I had received a few Papyrus greetings cards in the past and often thought they were nice. The designs were pretty and so well decorated. The material would pop up and running through it with your fingers just left a good feeling. On the inside of the cards, there would be such beautiful wording with rich font. The material of the cards would be thick, not thin or flimsy. However because Papyrus lacked a rewards program or point system with purchase I would still pretend primarily using Hallmark for cards. But keeping an open mind, I realized that It didn’t hurt to switch it up once in awhile, especially when buying a card for someone special.
Upon looking around, Bunny and I noticed a binder on a table in the back where there were invitation samples! Another option for our Save the Dates or Wedding Invitations! As we were walking, we were greeted by a nice lady who asked if we had needed help. We informed her that we were looking for a farewell present, and she recommended some jewerly, scarfs or a picture frame where we could store our photo in. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos with her, so that was out of the question. After much contemplation, I decided to look around at the stationary. I ended up choosing the stationary set with the design «London Calling.» I felt it was fitting since she had lived and gone to school there. What a perfect present. Also, there was a bag that said Paris with the Eifel Tower which matched with the gift, so why not have it together? Everything looked great!
Cute cards, stationary sets, gift items, such a quaint little store that makes you feel all happy and giddy. Who could ask for anything more?

$ 6.95 for a greeting card? Really? Why? They get opened, read and pitched!!!
Can’t they provide a decent card for half that amount? Why have them displayed as art work with cellophane wrapping? It’s just a card!!! Won’t pay your prices for greeting cards at $ 6.95 each.
Oh, and buy 3 get 1 free? Yes, that’s a real incentive. Pay $ 20.85 for 3 cards and they will throw one in? FORGET IT!!!

Came here for a birthday card and was surprised at the variety, I like the vast amount of birthday cards that were available. The only downside to coming here is the price for these cards. The cheapest I saw was $ 3.95 and the most that I saw was $ 8.95. As you can see the price will range depending on the card that you are looking at. The nine dollar card was one with noise and lights hence the mucho expensivo price. There is a sales section/​clearance near the cash register, 10 cards for 5 and you have to get 10 for the $ 0.50 each deal. I would totally buy 10 if it weren’t for the fact that most of the cards have their fair share of wear and tear… Besides all that, the employee working there while I was there was helpful and very friendly, though I felt she was trying to pressure me into buying something… I like this store though and I can’t wait to see what new cards they will have in the future. Oh and also near the cash register were these hilarious porn for ladies books. I could not help but laugh when I read them, definitely a funny buy!

I only come here to buy the Bella Pilar cards. i love the cards because of the design. And this location has a lot of her collection

Got married recently– I had a very hard time getting invitation companies to respond to emails and then went into Papyrus– they had a huge amount of options and were very helpful– I was entirely satisfied with the experience and very happy with the invitations– got compliments from the guests as well.

Great place for some great cards but it’s a bit expensive. I mean $ 6 for a card??? Better off getting some ice cream upstairs or a gift certificate to Safeway. But they do have great cards which I buy with discernment. Just wished they have a few more sales on their cards.

I’m a bit of a Papyrus addict. It’s a disgustingly expensive, elitist, and girly hobby. But its one of the few things that provide me with pure unadulterated joy. Standing in a sea of multicolored, sparkly, tactile cards reading and re-​reading them, and picking out the perfect card for someone is a rush of shiny happy things.
When I feel most like Frank Costanza «Serenity NOW» I head to this particular Papyrus. Susi and all of the staff are accommodating and nice but they don’t breathe down my neck and don’t mind that I can easily spend an hour touching and reading every single card.
This store has the best selection of cards and a large selection of the cards usually left out elsewhere (Jewish holidays, get well soon, bon voyage, new home, etc). In addition they have a great selection of unique wrapping paper, ribbons and party bags (second only to the Burlingame store which has better papers but worse cards).
On a final note, I ordered holiday cards for my business from this Papyrus. In the past I had ordered from the store in Embarcadero 2 (great store for a lunchtime fix) and they were lovely and came on time. However, the staff at the Stonestown Papyrus went above and beyond in rushing my order, extending discounts and ensuring quality. I could completely trust them with my order.
So yes, I have an addiction but admitting is the first step.

there’s soemthing about this store that i like. it’s because stonetown is one quiet mall and i dont feel overcrowded when i go into this papyrus. AND this store is not toooooo quiet [where it would get creepy]. it’s a good size. good spacing. i love lookin at all their cards, though too expensive for me. just browsing. i like their other random accessories though. papyrus is a good place to buy gifts

I’ve strolled in this place a couple of times coz it’s right across the street from work in SOMA. Although they are just located in a small room, their selection is awesome. They have the most creative and beautiful greetings cards I’ve ever seen.
Whether it’s for a wedding, a birthday, anniversary… you will find the perfect card for that special occasion. Prices are a tad higher than standard Hallmark cards, but who would want to get a boring old Hallmark card for $ 3.50 when they can get an memorable, decorative, and beautifully-​crafted greeting card for $ 7?
I’m definitely going back here to buy my loved ones their greeting cards!

I feel like a complete geek when saying this, but I am an avid card collector. Not baseball cards, not Pokemon cards (seriously?), not … ok, I can’t think of anything else — but I collect ya’ know, birthday cards, anniversary cards, I-​hate-​you-​please-​die cards … Hallmark must love me. And for that matter, I love Hallmark — and I love Papyrus.
Hoo boy, do I love Papyrus.
They’re a liiiiiiiiiiittle pricey, but oh-​so-​worth it. I get all my boxes of Christmas cards here. And all their cards; for whatever occasion it is; they are so CUTE. Adorable little decorations on the front — they’re guaranteed to make the receiver ‘ooh’ and ‘aaaah!’ and possibly ‘where did you get this? I MUST know!’ when they see it.
Mmm, dreamy-​sigh.

We received exceptional service from the Papyrus Stonestown location when we ordered our wedding invitations. Everyone who helped us was friendly, hip, and really knew their stuff! From patiently assisting us while we leafed through their stacks of thick binders, to offering personal opinions about popular styles currently on the market, to placing our order for us (with so many ink colors, paper colors, fonts, and formatting options to choose from, placing the order was a major task in and of itself), the Papyrus Stonestown staff was simply awesome. The order arrived sooner than we expected too, and it was beautiful. I love the products at Papyrus, and don’t think I’ve had a bad experience at any of their stores, but a special kudos goes out to the Papyrus Stonestown staff for all of their wonderful assistance with our invitations.

Papyrus greeting cards are decent. It’s not up there as one of my favorite card stores, but I do pop in because the locations are convenient and I sometimes find a card or two. I wasn’t able to find a suitable Father’s Day card though.
They have some handmade looking cards, the ones that are $ 6 and up per card. I think they have too many humorous photo cards (the kind I avoid) and the styles don’t change often enough so that I fear that I might accidentally give someone the same card twice.
I’ve been to quite a few of their locations and I think the one in Laurel Village is one of the better ones, whereas the Stonestown one is middle of the road, average. They also sell note cards (including Crane), journals, gift wrap and small gifts like picture frames, charms, seals, and pens. And they provide custom printed invitations.

Wonderful card collection that is definitely a standout from the normal card variety at Target and Rite Aid (though those cards are pretty funny too). These cards are more sentimental and tend to be double the price. But sometimes, that is what fits for the person or gift you are buying the card for.
Also tons of great gift items, books, candles, trinkets, photo albums, journals. How can I say it? Everything in here is really NICE. Pretty, dainty, and gives off that personalized feeling.
I tend to shop for girls here more than guys. For the guys, I get the joke card at Rite Aid. My girlfriends tend to appreciate the $ 6 bag that their gift comes in, more than the men would. For them, they get t he $ 1.99 pre-​put together bag at Rite Aid.
Staff is super friendly, they have a frequent card buyer program and I never walk out of here empty handed.

Great card selection (both handmade and normal), and lots of wonderful gifty items throughout the store. I always stock up on birthday and baby cards and they’ve got a great selection and usually have a well-​stocked inventory.
Staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help and offer suggestions. They also have a great free card program for frequent buyers.
