I’ve been coming here for the past few weeks and have been given excellent service and food. The guys here are really accommodating, they even put up a few extra parfaits for me when I happen to come by later in the day. I fell in love with their tomato bisque soup and is perfect for when the weather takes a chilling turn! And their sandwiches are pretty nice too. Service is top notch and super friendly. All in all my experience with this place has been solid and I’d definitely recommend. And I’m not sure what’s up with these negative reviews but every time I’m there, me and the other customers in line are treated well and enjoy the food. So definitely give this place a try.

When I was training for the SF Marathon, I’d come here after my long runs for two reasons. One– I was generally hungry but two– my stomach was SUPER sensitive after ingesting nothing but sports drink and gel for two hours. So, soup always seemed to be one of the only foods I could tolerate. SF Soup Company in Stonestown Food Court is decent. I don’t eat meat(but I eat fish) and they have a few vegetarian selections. The split pea and corn chowder are sometimes too bland for my liking. The cioppino(not on the daily menu– it only makes an occasional appearance) is my favorite. My biggest complaint with this place, though, is that the soup is SOHOT that I always end up burning my mouth. You’d think I’d learn!

More like a 2.8. My boyfriend is next to me complaining about the price. But we all know it is Stonestown Food Court, so you know you gotta pay a bit more. But honestly, I’ve had better SFSC. The one at Berkeley, for example, is superb. When I was this SFSC, I had a little cold, so wanted so hearty soup to heal my aches. I got a clam chowder and a ½ tuna sandwich side. I’ve never ordered sandwiches here before, and thought it would be fresh, but it turns out it was just pre-made plastic-y looking, 2 minute sandwiches. :(But there was corn in there, so a little innovation. The thing I was more disappointed with was the soup. I got the sandwich and soup to go, and once I got back into the car, all the oil had floated to the top and lingered alongside the borders of the bowl. OHGOSH. Worst thing to see when you are sick. I just wanted some nice, hot, hearty soup, and I got hot, oily, ingredient-thrifty soup. Don’t get me wrong; the soup was still good, just not to my expectations after trying Berkeley’s a couple of times. Wish I were back there now!!!

A few years ago, I got into a habit at work of getting soup with my lunch. Whether it was from my work cafeteria or the near by Whole Foods, I got soup almost every day. While I don’t get soup every day at work anymore, i found myself a lover of just about any soup out there. I knew that SF Soup Co. was around San Francisco but it was not in any areas close to me. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that SF Soup Co. opened at Stonestown! Since the store has opened, I stop by when I can and I do enjoy many of their soups and chili’s. The positives are that some of their«daily specials» are quite good. Among the favorites are a beef stew, beef barley and a jambalaya soup. Among the signature soups, I like the Corn Chowder(though a little spicy) and the Split Pea. But why not 4 or 5 stars? I stop by Stonestown at all times of the day recently. The only time you can get a daily special(it seems) is early in the day. If you stop by later in the afternoon, they only have their signature soups, which can be frustrating. Unlike many, I have no qualms about the price. Regardless of the issues of getting a daily special, I still think SF Soup Co. is a good place to stop by for some decent soup for that cold day in SF.

The Asian woman behind the counter was really rude when I was there before they opened.(Hard to tell, since their hours weren’t posted and she was behind the counter.) I stood at the counter and she ignored me until I asked if she would help me. She said«Opens at 11.» I asked how long that would be, since I didn’t have a watch on me. SFSC, can you train your employees to be helpful? If she had said«We’re opening in five minutes» it would have been so much more pleasant. She seemed pleasant enough when she was actually serving me 5 mins later, but I was annoyed and didn’t leave a tip because of her earlier unhelpfulness.

Kinda pricey for my high school budget, but really good soup. I like that they mark the organic, vegetarian, vegan, etc. options of the menu and aren’t to strict about taking extra bread. Don’t get their sandwiches, though, they’re pretty bad.

I was sick one time, and super hungry with no food in the house, so I decided to come here for soup. I decided on ordering the Matzo ball soup because I just heard about it on Bobby Flay’s Throwdown. Let me just tell you that it was amazing. Sure, it’s the first time I’ve had Matzo ball soup, so I’m sure it’s way more amazing somewhere that specializes in it. But even still, it was such a delicious consistency and the broth was very well done. It really hit the spot and probably added to my healthy recovery.

I’ve come to discover that the average meal at or around Stonestown comes out to between $ 6.50 to $ 7.50. Seriously, if this were a bidding game on The Price Is Right, I would have this one down. Anywho, I’m very much a soup girl. I find myself craving it a few times a week and am pleased with many of SF Soup Company’s offerings. Some highlights for me include: an organic tomato bisque that is thick and creamy; it’s warmth and flavor scream comfort on a cold Stonestown day. The chicken tortilla soup is equally flavorful and comes topped with a healthy handful of cheese, cilantro and blue corn chips. Both also can be heightened with a little dash of either Tabasco or Tapatio(thoughtfully provided around the corner to the right of the cash register). Sadly, I’m a little disappointed with the chicken noodle soup(it’s a little watery for my taste). The best bang for your buck is the combo for a bowl of soup and your choice of a ½ sandwich or ½ salad. The combo also comes with a free piece of sourdough/small roll and a free soda or bottle of water. Ignore the listed prices(the misleading old poster on the left says $ 5.99 and the one on the wall says a more accurate $ 6.94; with tax it breaks down to $ 7.40). I have to confess your sandwich or salad may be a let down because with the exception of the turkey pesto(which comes on a thick white bread with tomatoes and spring mix) I have yet to nibble on something that wasn’t kinda soggy. Still, I give high marks for the soup and the service is quick regardless of how long the line might be. Not too shabby.

«No soup for you!» Often times, soup is left on the«back burner» in the culinary world. But, soup is more than just a bowl of liquid. When we have found Mr. Flu or Auntie hangover, then we start running toward soup. If done right, this molten lava can heighten mood and instantly transport flavors seeping into the tiny pores in your palate. Just like the character of my high maintenance over-achieving high school sweetheart, there are some remarkable«hits» and a few obvious«misses.» A New England classic, the clam chowder lacked the creamy texture found in chowder. Instead, hip hop over to Boudin. A few sand bites most likely from the clams just halted my culinary journey. On par, the vibrant red hues from the tomato bisque opened the gates of comfort food heaven. A slight tart kicker started the senses finished by creamy highly seasoned bowl of lava. A few splashes of Tabasco rounds out the dish even more. A triangular grilled melted cheese sandwich amplifying nutty notes of scorched cheese would have been a great marriage, but this option sat afar. With bitter cooling touch from olives, the hummus sandwich with cucumber made up a safe vegetarian sandwich. _

3.5. Why not 5? Cause the person behind the counter just snapped at me. I couldn’t understand what she was saying, and she didn’t even look at me, and repeated what she said before very fast and annoyed. I’m sorry, but maybe you should just look at people when you talk to them, in stead of looking at the soup, which is actually very delicious. I love soup! Yesterday was the first time I tried San Francisco Soup Company cause. Why? Just because I was hungry and I wasn’t feeling like any of the other food they serve in Stonestown. I tried the smokey pea soup, which is really really yummy! Their French bread that you get with is was a little stale, probably because they have it out all day. Whether or not the soup is fresh is hard to say, but it is damn delicious and not as salty as many canned soups, so, that’s why I believe it’s fresh. It’s cheap, and a much healthier option than most things at Stonestown. I’d say, give it a try!

Sometimes I just want to get out and wandering Stonestown is a pretty inexpensive activity. One early evening after doing lots of gardening work, my wife and I wandered into the upper court level to find something to eat. Granted, I haven’t found anything there worthwhile, however, I am willing to try something different. We went to the San Francisco Soup Company as it appeared new replacing a fruit juice type place. I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a tuna sandwich. Well the clam chowder was blazing hot and probably hotter than the coffee that was spilled on the woman’s lap at McDonald’s a few years ago and sparked a big lawsuit. However, the soup was chocked full of chunky potatoes in a cream sauce without a trace of clams. The tuna sandwich was already prepared and the woman server took it out of a display case. I was soggy and had the consistency of wet cardboard and had no flavor. If this is representative of what they serve, I predict a short stint here at Stonestown. Not worth the money!!!

I wish the Soup Nazi worked here and I wish he had screamed«NOSOUPFORYOU!!!» at me today. Of course, if the Soup Nazi DID work here I would probably want the soup. The soup here is an abomination to the name«soup». I know, you know, and everyone’s mama knows that places like this are given bags of pre-made soup that is simply poured into the proper heating receptacle and served. The tomato bisque I had today was nothing short of disgusting. Nothing could have saved it. Of course, I was starving and in a rush so I choked down ¾ of a regular(read small) order. It wasn’t easy. If I hadn’t had surgeries in the afternoon and needed the nutrients I would have preferred starving. Unfortunately, I think my patients wouldn’t appreciate my stomach growling as my physician boss cut pieces of them off. Seriously, it’s happened before. Not much turns me off of food. Except bad food itself. This is BAD food. My soup tasted like the sauce that comes on canned Spaghetti O’s. Only thicker. So nasty! I will NEVER try one of their soups again. My coworker summed it up best as she said«You know you ain’t gonna be wanting to try any of their other soups cuz if they mess up soup, and that ain’t hard to make, nothing else they have is good.» Wise words, my young padwan, wise words. Now I know why this was the shortest line in the food court. $ 5 for soup and a hunk of okay sourdough may seem tempting but I urge you to picture the Soup Nazi screaming«NOSOUPFORYOU» as motivation in avoiding this place.

I am a soup addict to the point where I am really shocked and(I’ll admit: bothered and upset!!) when I find out that some people aren’t so big on broth! i love all kinds of soups and stews and thought that this place would be a good choice for lunch. I even recently bought a crock pot just so I can come home to a pot of soup every day(well, that day hasn’t happened yet but it will !) I ordered the southwestern corn chowder since I love corn soups and got it in a sourdough bread bowl. Unfortunately the breadbowl didn’t work well with the soup. The soup was really sweet(could be the corn and the peppers) and the bread was tangy sourdough. I knew I should’ve gotten the clam chowder if I wanted a bread bowl. Their other soup selections sounded good and maybe if I’m ever near an SF Soup Co. location, I’ll give it another try.

I REFUSE to go here anymore. I love their soups, I really do. It’s a healthier option than many of the other mall foodcourt options, but the attitude here SUCKS!!! The people working here are cranky, inflexible for people with allergies, and won’t do anything to improve your visit to this kiosk because they’re ridiculously lazy! I’m not sure if this is a reflection of those workers as individuals, or corporate policy. If it’s the latter, I really don’t want to go back here! I’ve noticed that they close down their kiosk early. Last night, for example, we arrived at 8:40 pm only to see that all the soups were already put away(even though they’re supposed to stay open until 9 pm! I’m sure the mall requires them to by contract!), and when we asked, the employee told us they were all shut down and the soups were already cold because it was 9 pm. We checked the time on our cellphones, which is updated by satellite and far more accurate than some mall kiosk’s inaccurately set manually programmed clock. Our cellphones both said it was 8:40 pm. We pointed this out to the employee. She checked her register’s time and told us it said 8:56 pm. We looked around and pointed out that no other kiosk in the foodcourt had shut down and that her time was off. She told us the soup was cold and she could no longer use the register anyway, because they were closed. Now, if the soup was already cold, she must’ve broken down LOOOOOOONG before then, which is absolutely ridiculous! This is just lazy, poor service! And if it wasn’t quite closing even according to her OWN inaccurately set clock, why was her register already closed?!! Something really stinks about that whole business, and again, I’m not sure if this is about an individual employee or a corporate strategy, but I DO know it’s complete and utter B. S!!! This woman continued to lie to our faces about the time, and even had a small smile on her face. What a you-know-what!!! So we took our business elsewhere. And we probably will continue to avoid this place, because despite the fact that I really like their soups, I refuse to pay $ 7(did I mention THISPLACEAIN’T CHEAP!!!) for soup to a company that lies to my face, is lazy, and whose employees are downright RUDE!!! If I could give negative stars to this place, I would!

This place only gets two stars because they calculate your WW points out for you. But cold bread bowl and barely luke warm clam chowder doesn’t cut it for 7 bucks in my mind. Top it off with not being the best clam chowder by a long shot = fucking nasty. Couldn’t even finish it and was HUNGRY. Had to go elsewhere for sustenance. I think SF Soup company needs to invest in functioning steam plate.

I came here to try their soup since it’s conveniently located at the food court in Stonestown. Their clam chowder tasted fresh but it wasn’t the best I’ve had. They used too much celery and it had a sweet taste to it. I prefer Boudin’s clam chowder and even Progresso’s canned soup. It’s 25 cents for a fountain drink for students and seniors with a valid ID.

Good variety of soups(nicely indexed, i.e., V = vegetarian, D = dairy free, L = low-fat, etc.), three sizes to choose from(regular alone’s going to cost you $ 4.61 or something like that). Some wraps and salads and beverages also available for purchase. From my understanding, each cup of soup comes with a choice of either sourdough or wheat bread(note: wheat bread is vaguely resemblant of that served by airlines). The service isn’t too hot– while the person working the soup vats was pretty efficient and offered the bread type as well as «take-out or for here,» the cashier and whom I assume was the manager were slow and had more important things to banter about before asking for my order.

I was greatly anticipating the opening of the SF Soup Co. here. Sadly I missed the 50% off ad in SFSU’s paper and paid $ 9.00 for tomato bisque in a bread bowl(and a bottle of water). I don’t recommend the bread bowl as it was chewy and flavorless. The soup was ok, but I thought it was pricey an unmemorable.

Because I am so lucky and go to SF State… I happened to see an ad in our school paper that said we get 50% off with our SFSU id til 3⁄29 at Stonestown’s new addition at their food court! So I ended up walking here during my break and return to school with Grandma Mary’s Chicken Soup(think chicken noodle soup). I’ve always loved chicken noodle soup eversince I was a kid… so I had high expectations. Unfortunately the soup had very little flavor. Sure I got big hunks of chicken and a good handful of noodles… but I cant get over how much flavor the soup lacked. The wheat bread was very good though… Anyways today my roomate urged me to try one of their other soups: Mexican Chicken Tortilla, since she suggested that it tasted exactly like a chicken enchillada. Anyways she put some black tortilla chips in it and gave me a spoonful. I was NOT disappointed with this one! This soup was thick and tons of flavor in it. I guess I must finally let go of you my chicken noodle soup…
