Phoenix Hotel was a crash pad and launching pad for world-renowned bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam, making this San Francisco boutique hotel has been a home away from home for creative spirits since 1987. Its funky space, wedged between San Francisco’s gritty Tenderloin district and its iconic Civic Center, incorporates ‘50s architecture and design and a tropical courtyard and heated pool.
History
Established in 1987.
The Phoenix Hotel was opened in January of 1987, after Chip Conley purchased and revived the old Caravan Lodge. The Phoenix is proud to be where Joie de Vivre Hospitality, which now is the largest boutique hotel company in California, got it’s start!
