Pizzelle di North Beach

I eat here regularly, and I love the variety. The pasta in particular is delicious. The pizza is more NY style, and I’m more of a Chicago Deep Dish person. But otherwise, great food!

What happened to this joint? This WAS my go-​to joint for delivery. For some reason, the slices, although BOMB tasting and huge were a ton different from the delivery. I loved the delivery because it sat in the steaming box for a bit the flavors ALL CAME TOGETHER like NONE OTHER I’VE HAD IN MY LIFE!
Never no more… I had it a couple weeks ago while up in San Francisco and sadly… it was way… different. half of the pizza was thick and the other thin. Whoever tossed that dough must have been faded. Well, it was about 130am when I placed that order… BUT STILL. The cheese was different. It did not taste the same. The fresh tomato was just like crazy all over the place and made every so soggy. It was a mess to eat. It looked like the box actually dropped a few times on the way to my place too.
I don’t know what to say. This was seriously the BEST delivery in the city. I’m so sad.

Not happy. They messed up my order, then I was told I’d be able to have it fixed when I call to order in the future. I called to order and less than half the order was replaced. My first order was missing two items completely, which they refused to replace. They did correct the pizza so one stars for that, but otherwise horrible customer service.

Very good pizza and ample seating. The owner is very nice and the pizza is made right here from scratch. Very nice pizza restaurant.

Excellent New York style pizza! Crust is just perfect, sauce has a nice flavor to it. And the owner has been here 9 years and I can see why it’s good. Great place to stop while in North Beach and get a ready to eat slice!

Just ordered through Eat24. They accidentally placed the order for pick up. I notified Eat24 to change it to delivery. It takes Pizzelle di North Beach nearly an hour and a half to deliver a small pizza and garlic bread after it has already been cooked. Pizza arrived 2 hours after placing order, all cold. I notify the manager that delivering cold food a hour and a half after its been cooked is unacceptable. Pizza and garlic bread are not expensive to make, they should have definitely fired a new order before sending me cold food. I work as a cook, and trust me that is pathetic. Owners should definitly check managment.

One of those pizzas that when you first go to pick it up think it may not be fully cooked yet. Not your crispy thin crust pizza, more of a soft ½ to ¾″ thick slice. Crust has texture of a bread roll (the fluffy small kind) and for over half the pizza there was between ½″ to a full 1″ of sauce before the cheese started. This meant that when you picked it up the toppings would try to slide off and you would have to aggressively hold it on the slice. Did I mention how soft the pizza was? It was like one of the frozen pizzas from the 90s. We decided to put it back in the oven at 400 for another 5 – 10 minutes and that helped the crust get crispier and the cheese/​toppings stay on better. Overall it was just a really bad pizza but had to give two stars since the toppings seemed to be pretty good/​fresh and evenly applied. Would love to try again to make up for it but if this is their style of pizza with thicker crust and fluffy soft crust then this is not my style of pizza.

Just a few steps away from Broadway’s Paris Pizza and all the rif raf and girlie bars and worth the extra few steps.
As you enter you will notice the pizzas up front. They look like nothing particularly special but once they heat it up it they turn into awesomeness.
This spot complete with sense of humor tip jar complaint box all in one. Comfortable seating, mirrors on one wall, game on in background with 2 tvs.
A light crunch to the crust, nice and hot. Not at all greasy. My hawaiian today 5÷23÷16 hit the spot. For a by the slice place very good quality. Had a fancy purple potato pizza at the Market yesterday and that is the quality i reserve 5 stars for.
Very cool textured yellow ceiling with swirls, some dark ceiling fans and then some stainss lamps that sort of clash with one another — yup you guessed it it was early in the evening and I was perfectly sober.
Thats a good sign tho. You dont need to be drunk to enjoy this place.

Great pizza is one the finest culinary delights, when all the ingredients come together is like food heaven. And since Pizza is so common, its a challenge to find superb Pizza, especially in CA. The North East NY NJ has an unlimited number of high quality pizza locales to choose from in CA you have your work cut out. So I have found for sheer density of good Pizza SF North Beach reigns supreme, just dropped by Pizzelle di North Beach and ordered two combo slices, super rich flavor, sauce perfect, cheese and toppings wonderful. Its a small place but the service is fantastic, TV to watch. And the prices are reasonable two slices and a Snapple just 9 bucks, I expected to pay more.

Convenient location in the neighborhood to grab some pizza, wings, or burgers. I ordered delivery from here twice and the food arrived in 15 minutes-​20 minutes both times. Those are probably the fastest deliveries I’ve ever experienced. However, I can’t give this place five stars because I haven’t had the chance to dine in yet.
PS. Do yourself a favor and order some chicken wings.

Ugh. So not good! Better then New York pizza? Maybe better then Costco? It was the only place o could find to deliver to our hotel and they were fast and surprisingly cheap. I left a good tip to the delivery guy because we came all the way up to the room to deliver it. The pizza is so thick! No Chicago pizza thick but maybe like then don’t know how to roll it thin? The flavors aren’t bad but the thickness of it take away from the pizza itself. Really bummed because there so many better pizza places in the area.

This place is the bomb, when it comes to delivery. It was fast, and they are open late, for the after club or outing, when you want something solid to eat. They actually delivered the pie to my job site. It was awesome, fresh and hot.

We did delivery for this order and got the greco verdi pizza with a side of garlic bread. It was delivered on time, 45 minutes. A small 12″ can easily feed 3 people.
The pizza was really thick and chewy. It came with chicken, pesto, spinach, and feta. There were large chunks of feta and hardly any spinach. Overall, it did some seem fresh.
The garlic bread barely had any garlic on it and was also mushy. The marinara sauce it came with definitely made it better.
I most likely would not reorder a pizza from here again.

I never posted anything about anyone. But few visits to Pizzelle Di North beach .I just had to let people know what a great place this is. Great extraordinary tasty food even at late night. Credit card accepted even on small orders and beer! — great music I absolutely couldn’t ask for more! By the way. They have great selection of beers even on some Italian beers. :))
This is the first place that comes to my mind on my day off to hangout with my friends.

In summary, I paid $ 10 for two of the worst pizza slices I’ve ever had.
My daughter had a slice of Hawaiian pizza, and I had a slice of Supreme pizza. We had no drinks or anything else, so I was, in the first place, baffled by the pricing, but I guess it was right. So, after shelling out, I’m thinking, for almost $ 5/​slice, at least it will be good, right?
Wrong. I can’t say it’s the worst pizza I’ve ever had, because I’m reserving that title for the Cali State Fair, but it was pretty close. The crust was thin, bland, and floppy. There was almost no sauce.
I cannot emphasize the words «bland» and «flavorless» enough. The pizza was so bad that it’s possible that it had just been sitting there all day, but I’m going to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and assume that they don’t operate that way.
Almost every table in the place was disgusting. The Barbie doll getting paid to stand behind the counter did nothing to alleviate this, in spite of having no other visible customers during our stay.
We came here starving after walking around all day, and still ended up barely touching our pizza. It was one of those situations where I probably should have asked for a refund but, I didn’t. Darn.

Do not order the pasta. REPEAT: do not order anything listed as a pasta entrée.
Came here on a Friday evening eager for some casual Italian after judging the surrounding places too upscale for the night. We ordered a slice of pizza, the chicken cacciatore, and chicken parmasigna. Only the friend that went with pizza enjoyed her meal.
For the unlucky pasta cravers, service was painfully slow. And by painfully, I mean slow enough to make me consider giving up on waiting and going someplace else to eat.
When the dishes arrived they were exceedingly underwhelming. With the entrees you get a choice of salad, spaghetti (why this would be a choice of side beats me) or fries. Starting with the salad the leaves were wilted and it was pretty much a pile of bagged spinach with ranch. Bleh. The spaghetti was a chunky jumble of canned tomato sauce and the chicken was overly salted. Couldn’t finish it and only ate the mushrooms it was cooked with.
The portions are large enough to split between one other person so if you insist on trying an entrée, go with that and split. Prices are waay overpriced for quality of food. $ 14.95 for a messy plate of inedible carbs with Italian seasoning? No thank you.
Not impressed and not returning.

Amazing Pizza, simply Amazing. They should get some sort of recognition for the quality and great prices they have compared to what you get at some establishments. When out and about in North Beach, be it clubbing or just chillaxing on a Sunday Funday. When I’m in a pizza mood this is where I go, even me living in Pittsburg, this place is worth the drive or bart ride.
Hot, Fresh because even by the slice the pizza don’t sit long and perfectly balanced with toppings and such. I’ve had a variety of the different pizza slices here, but my fave is the pesto and cheese sometimes with the mushroom if not sold out. And that’s big me not wanting a meatless pizza because I like meaty pizzas.
They have other food here such as salads, pastas and calzones also if you’re not in the mood for pizza. If you’ve never been here and you’re in north beach I’d highly recommend it. One of the better Pizzeria’s in the area in my personal opinion! Don’t forget to Unilocal your experience.

Speed Bump In Quality
SITREP
Used to be my favorite pizza stop in North Beach — if not the entire Bay Area — but I feel the quality of the product is not up to par from when I first hit this place back in the late 90s and clubbed through the hood consistently up to now.
THE SETUP
When Mr. Romano was the manager of the shop, I felt he was on top of how the whole pizza process was run from beginning to end, and beginning with the best dough and cheese.
It doesn’t seem like that now since he has been gone and perhaps when Pizzelle shifted ownership to …(how should I say this?)…to either another family/​business cartel that doesn’t put the same emphasis on the traditional values of the Italian/​Sicilian pizza making traditions.
Breaks my heart to say this, but it is what it is, and that’s the way it is now.
THE LOWDOWN
It is still a good pizza — especially at 2am-​3am in the morning — and if I’m hitting the North Beach /​Financial District /​Chinatown clubs in the area, I will definitely stop by here for another 2am-​3am pitstop with friends in tow.
However, if clubbing in SOMA, I won’t go out of my way again. There just no longer is any incentive to come here since DNA Pizza more than adequately does the job there and is getting to the point where their pizza is a cut above.

BBQ Chicken Pizza is absolutely delicious! Love it!
Came around 11:30 in the morning after I checked out of the motel next door. All the pizza’s look fresh! But the one that caught my eye was the BBQ chicken pizza. It looked amazing and it even taste amazing! I only got once slice because it was more like a quick breakfast Togo.
One slice of of a HOT BBQ Chicken Pizza comes up to exactly $ 4 bucks. Pretty good deal since the pizza slice is huge.
I came back an hour later to order a pizza to go for some of my relatives in Sacramento. Got them a large pizza (half Hawaiian, half bbq chicken). The pizza was great, but totally not worth 28 bucks (medium is $ 24).
