Quest is the most inefficient lab I’ve ever been to. I’ve been here twice, both times I’ve had to wait 30 – 90 minutes for my lab. Even with an appt, there is no front desk staff. Only the lab person, so no one can look up and print the necessary paperwork to get things done on time. The bathroom is dirty. Absolutely the worst.

You might hate Quest, but this location has always been great. Efficient, very nice staff, professional, and they don’t seem to mind when I nearly hyperventilate with all the needles.
And they do have just one person, but the wait has never been longer than 10min. Just don’t go during standard rush hours (mid afternoon is ideal). It’s like a dmv, if you go before 10am or after 4pm, you should know what you’re getting into. Don’t blame it on them.
Maybe not the nicest location, but they keep it tidy and neat.

A STAT lab order means a rush and for a doctor’s office to get the results the same day. It does not mean for a patient to come in at 8:50am, the technician to not call the courier until 1:50pm, another 4 – 6 hours of processing, and then not get the results until the next morning (hopefully). For people that rely on these results, who spend all day anxiously waiting for these results, this goes beyond unprofessionalism.

Quest has closed many of its labs so the number of locations are limited. Rent in the city is expensive, I get it. But to have only one person managing the office is ridiculous. He’s nice but clearly overwhelmed. I don’t blame your employee but it’s stupid that corporate thinks one person can manage this lab. The waiting is room full with elderly people waiting out the door and even those with appointments have been pushed back.

DO NOT COME HERE. I wish I could leave negative stars.
When I walked in, there was one person (nice enough) manning the entire lab. My two hour procedure took three hours. Everyone who made an appointment was at least 45 mins– 1 hour behind service schedule.
I should have known that something was going to go wrong based on the # of staff, which is not sufficient when it comes to blood-​work.
Waiting for over 1 month for the results of my glucose fasting test (a two hour procedure which requires 12 hours of fasting, which I also took the day off for, as it took the lab closer to 4 hours to complete) My doctor recently called the lab, and they told them that ‘something went wrong with the specimen, and, they called me yesterday’.
There are so many things wrong with this.
1) they did not call me yesterday.
2) why did this take 1 month for them to follow up if there was something wrong?
3) Why is there only one staff person manning this place?
Avoid this headache and waste of time at all costs. Not professional. A note from my UCSF care team: «This level of service is unacceptable».

I usually go to the Quest at 2201 Post Street, but last time I was there I was terrorized by a curt, impatient, sadistic phlebotomist whose aggressive technique left an enormous bruise. Wanting to avoid her at all costs, today I went instead to this Quest at 2480 Mission Street, where the experience couldn’t have been more different and more pleasant. A very courteous, efficient, friendly man processed my paperwork and drew my blood politely, easily, and painlessly. I did not have to wait long, either. 5 stars all the way. I’ll be back!

I asked the person’s name who helped me (I unfortunately forgot it). Very friendly man, clean waiting room, quick service. I had a blood draw, and I felt ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. So if you are a person who is afraid of needles, this is your place. The draw was flawless.

Very slow service. Only one person and with no sense of timing or good service. Avoid

Door said M-​F 8am-12:30. Showed up at 8:40. Door was locked. Not reliably being open during business hours is kind of a big deal.

We waited 40 minutes WITH an appointment. We had an 8:15am appointment and didn’t get in until after 8:55am. Small waiting room with lots of kids of patients taking up the seven seats. I would give them 1 star, but they were friendly.

Defintely 5 Stars!!!
This is really the EASIEST place to get your blood work done.
1) No lines (at least the last 2 times I’ve been there)
2) Friendly and professional.
3) Easy Parking (ish)

Yes, this place is in kind of a depressing office building. It’s conveniently located though, and share’s a building with just about any kind of doctor that might refer you here, so very convenient in that respect.
When I prepared for having my blood drawn today, I had a sugary breakfast, water, and a jamba juice. I figured high hydration and high blood sugar would be good, because I have often felt light headed after having blood taken in the past and felt better after some apple juice. This apparently wasn’t such a great idea. The two people working in reception were nice, and both pretty young (mid twenties, I’d say). They were also apparently the phlebotomists, so they might be a bit understaffed when it’s more busy than it was this morning (I waited about 15 minutes, there were two other people in the waiting room). The guy, Rich, who called me back to draw my blood said he was a student and asked permission to draw my blood. He assured me he’d passed all his tests etc, and I said yes.
He was supervised by the other receptionist/​phlebotomist who is apparently fully certified or whatever. After one vial of blood I became very light headed and needed to stop. They got me a cold wet towel, water, and a bin when I asked for it because I was very nauseous. After being sick, they asked if I would like to come back another time or try giving the rest laying down. I just wanted to get it over with so opted for the section option. This time, the more experienced woman (sorry, don’t remember her name… Janice?) drew my blood and it was over quickly and painlessly. If you have trouble giving blood definitely ask for the bed option! Way easier! I wish I’d thought of that.
Basically: visit was quick and I was well taken care of even though giving blood really doesn’t agree with me.

I ended up going here after seeing a lot more positive reviews and was pleasantly surprised. The desk worker/​phlebotomist was professional and efficient. Seems like it pays to go early in the morning.
Tip: ALWAYS make an appointment online beforehand.

The phlebotomist seemed very new to her job. I heard her repeating the steps of the process while she was going through it. She seemed very nervous, which would be understandable if you were inexperienced. I have healthy veins and transparent skin, so as a patient I’m the easiest to draw blood from.
After drawing the blood, my arm hurt for several days and felt tingly. I was very worried about nerve damage. Fortunately, the pain abated, but I don’t see myself going back there.
Also, the phlebotomist asked me to fill out a survey on how she did, and then stood over me while I was supposed to fill it out. As you can imagine, this would probably skew survey results because a patient doesn’t want to receive subpar care after seeing the low marks they’re getting on the survey. Seems like they’re either deliberately trying to skew results or they aren’t properly educating people on how to administer surveys.
