STAY AWAY!
I found RS Macroaccounting in a very well-​written ad on Craigslist — MISTAKE! The ad said «QuickBooks Master» and listed all of the qualities I was looking for — a small business that could make things easier that was «efficient» «professional» etc, etc. Come to find out — RS Macroaccounting was none of these.
RS Macroaccounting is run by Sara Reaboi, who, despite her very well written CL ad and web site, cannot write or speak English. I wouldn’t actually care except that this came across in our communication and greatly affected her quality of work.
I had two requests. Please review my 2009 QuickBooks file (I made VERY LITTLE $$ last year with very few actual transaction so this should have been simple) and transfer me from QB online to QB desktop.
Her solution? Download my bank statements into a desktop version and call it a day. This meant accepting whatever random categories/​names/​organizations the download suggested and give me a stinking mess of a file, which she loaded onto my computer and expected me to use. When I sent her «revised» QB file to my CPA for my taxes, it was such a mess I had to hire ANOTHER bookkeeper to fix it!
Sara «worked» on my file at her house and would come over to load it over on my computer. Then she would «surprise» me with these outrageous invoices ($ 1500 one time, $ 1250 another time, on and on) and would demand payment on the spot. I should have fired her when she came over the second time and smelled like a litter box — I’m not kidding about this. I have a bleeding heart and I wanted to help this poor woman. But ultimately, my poor choice led me to a $ 4,000 mistake.
