I shopped all around for storage in SF and Sheehan Storage is the best place. The prices are reasonable and you have 24 hour access to your storage unit. Most of the other storage places close early and have shorter hours on weekends, which can be very inconvenient when you need to access your unit. The place is clean and well maintained and safe. Dennis, the owner. could not be more friendly and helpful; he will even help you load and unload! His assistant is great and the place is super easy to access. Storage companies are notoriously sleazy with slick contracts, rates that change, hidden charges, bad security, etc. Sheehan Storage is owned by a person and not a corporation, and gives you the best service at the best prices.

My husband has been renting a storage unit from Dennis for 8+ years. He visits daily to pick up tools for work and then drop them off before coming home. This place is not a fancy storage facility with temperature control and vending machines, so don’t come in expecting that. It is down near the pier in a sorta sketchy area. It is well run, clean, safe, easy to access and very well priced. Dennis rents units and then leaves you be to store and come and go as you need.

2nd time for bay area and 4th time overall I’ve been let down by Unilocalers since 2010.
This place was not open (7 p.m. which is still listed on their Unilocal profile) during the times advertised (when a 2.5 star rated U-​haul in the city was) so I ended up not having time to find a 4 or 5 star rated storage place.
I’ve rented at storage places in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and all throughout Florida, so it’s a bit of a disappointment that San Francisco, California doesn’t have the same hours most places around the country seem to.

Dennis at Sheehan Storage makes is simple, quality storage unit at the right price!
He also keeps things in tip, top shape, with newly painted containers and excellent security with 24 hour access.
I was referred to him by a neighbor and thought that I only need space for a couple of months, 8 months later, I still had my things there. He was kind enough to extend my contract with no questions asked or no hidden fees.

Denis Sheehan is a really stand up guy. I had a storage unit with him for 1.5 years and a boat trailer there for 6 months. Denis was quick to answer his phone and respond to my requests.
The units are simple partitions in shipping containers. The location is all the way down at the end of Cesar Chavez. I didnt feel comfortable being there alone at night but that is probably just good common sense. I never felt concerned during the day.
I highly recommend this as storage space.

Dennis has been awesome! We originally got a 5×8 storage unit, and we really wanted a bigger unit. When one came available, Dennis moved over all our stuff FOR FREE, and now we have a bigger unit for $ 110. DEAL!

WONDERFUL! Love is an understatement.
Because I’m about to start grad school and am on a crazy tight budget, I had to call a bunch of places to find one where I can store my things for the year (my first year of school is abroad). If you’re hunting, here’s a tip: some will charge a large monthly fee, and some will charge a smaller monthly fee but with the requirement that you pay a large moving fee for their moving services. Sheehan, miraculously, charged a bargain price that beat out all the competition.
Furthermore, they’re awesome. Dennis is maybe one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He brought a friend (employee?) along to help me move, who was also wonderful.
Overall, the process was totally painless (dare I say «enjoyable?»). I wish I could give them ten stars.

Dennis is great. The place is great.
I called Dennis on the 2nd of the month (after I had sent my check) and told him i was hoping to stop using the unit but I still had some stuff in there to get rid of. He didn’t cash my check for the month and got rid of my stuff for free. Dennis has been all around extremely helpful and made things much easier.

Going on a year using Sheehan storage, all I can say is that it’s one of those places that preserves the character of old San Francisco — It’s unpretentious, economical, accommodating, clean, and accessible 24hrs a day. Dennis, the proprietor, is affable and very professional. He explains things without trying to upsell, gives you honest recommendations for how much space you will need, and keeps the place running smoothly without drama. What he does not do is spend money on uniforms, banners, signage, or much advertising, near as I can tell. He seems to rely principally on word of mouth for his business, and that speaks well to the reputation he maintains.

I love this place. Dennis is a good guy who insisted we didn’t need to get a larger unit because any one bedroom apartment could fit. He was right, we easily fit our stuff into the cheaper, smaller space.
Yes, it is no frills, but for $ 110/​month all of our things were placed safely in storage.

I dunno about professional, but Dennis is certainly personable. My unit is a bargain and I’m glad to do business a local business run by a real person who answers his cell phone on the first ring. Overall, I’m a happy customer, but:
The units are not air conditioned or lit. They’re just partitions in shipping containers sitting outdoors in a half-​abandoned wasteland. No frills whatsoever.
Also, Dennis doesn’t send you bills or take credit cards. You have to remember to send your check to him at a PO box that’s not listed on his website. (box 880 367, san francisco, 94 188)
Great guy though.
ALSO: GOOGLE MAPS LIES! Sheehan Storage is at the far eastern end of Cesar Chavez where it hits the bay, not in Noe Valley.

I have been using Sheehan Storage for over a year now. Dennis is professional and personable. There units are clean, easily accessible and the most reasonably priced public storage in the city.
I highly recommend Sheehan Storage.
