Sparkling Carpets

Negative stars here! I’m absolutely horrified and mortified!!! I got home last night to find my Mother-​In-​Law (who was home watching my 8 month old son alone) extremely frazzled and shaky from the technician attempting to hustle her for an additional $ 200 cash after she already paid $ 250, and $ 50 tip for him to just leave! She was quoted $ 200 on the phone and email btw. I had used this company once in the past, but this time they didn’t get any of the pet stains out which is the whole reason I used them again (we had our carpets cleaned in July with a Green Cleaning company and I thought they didn’t get the stains out bc we needed to use chemicals or something). I highly recommend you do not use this company with shady thieves working for them. I am absolutely appalled and I hope to save others from making the same mistake we did.

I was a customer for around 10 years. Over the years they have done an ok job, overall. Although their last time, I was a bit less than impressed, as they left some stains I was able to get up myself, easily. I was not home, so i think they breezed through it. I still called them back, even though over time they have slowly been increasing the prices and as mentioned service has waned somewhat, but this last time I have had it! I let Ken know that my daughter was coming home at 7 pm, so he said he would have someone be there at 9 am after we disagreed about how long it takes for a floor to dry. He claimed 4 hours. I told him that was never my experience, that it usually takes 6 – 7 hours to start to dry and 12 – 24 hours to full dry. Anyhow, long story short, I get an email from him saying the guy may be a little late which i see at 9:40 A.M. I call the technician and he tells me Ken scheduled me for 3:00 P.M. I almost canceled the whole thing, but the techs were able to arrive around 12. My day was pretty much totally messed up and my daughter could not walk in her room when she got back. Also, he totally misquoted me when I asked him to do the stairs. Going from 2 rooms for 40 each + 10 for the closets (the price he has always given me) to a minimum of 125-​OK (i was still going to do it)… but then when i ask him to throw in the steps and he jacked it way up. I skipped the steps and anyhow, that is just not the way to treat long term customers! I really regret leaving this review, but he said 9 am but told the other guy 3?! No. Not cool. Honesty is a big part of business. You had me for years, but, I have had it! I would not recommend this company. They don’t care that much about their customers and yeah, I get it, the cleaning business is probably tough, but damn, at least tell the truth and stop subcontracting all kinds of different people whose work varies.

I would not recommend using this company. Save your money and find a different carpet cleaning company. I wish I had looked at Unilocal first to find out how many poor reviews this company has. I have been using them for a few times and they did an okay job, but on my last service call I asked them to clean the couch. They charged $ 300 for cleaning a couch. The couch costs brand new about $ 600. This amount is insane. I was expecting about $ 75 or maybe $ 100 at the most. Find another carpet cleaning company with a better reputation.

The sales rep are quick to quote over the phone (cheaper than most places i called) and schedule a technican to do the job.
The tech they sent was nice but was underprepared with tools to clean our carpets. I could of rented a Rug Doctor and gotten similar results.
I would NOT recommend this company and will end up spending more money to call another cleaner to finish the job correctly. Save the trouble and call someone else. You get what your pay for.

Some other workers tromped tar or some unknown black substance across a new carpet of a place we had just moved into. Called and had cleaners out here within hours and the carpet looks better than before. I can’t speak for the other negative reviews listed here, but I’m extremely impressed by their responsiveness, low cost, and friendly workers.

So I don’t even know how many years its been since they came… I’m going to say 5−6−7 years?.
Their computer still calls my phone once a month. So I say this, and quite emphatically

So 2 years later I am regularly receiving a recorded call from this place telling me I can get a deal from them and to press * to talk to an agent. I did to tell them to stop calling, take me off their list of clients and no one ever picks up a phone.
When I first wrote this review they contacted Unilocal to ask that i take my review down that it was untrue and I was lying. HA!
The reviews that give this place an overall higher rating are clearly not written by anyone who has used this service. I think that’s clear by all the reviews since my own.
Sparkling Carpets… if you read this update, TAKE ME OFF OF YOUR PHONE LIST!
I wouldn’t use them again. I’d rather my carpets were a filthy towel for the bottoms of my shoes.

The people that came out to do the work wasn’t AAA Sparkling Cleaners (as the name and address was different on the invoice)…the price was right, there was no hidden cost and they fit me in on the next day. That said, they did a decent job, he was informative, but not very detailed in his work. In the end, the «4−6» hours to dry changed to «24hrs» ended up being close to 72 hrs before my feet/​socks wouldn’t get wet… so that was a bit of an eye opener.

My carpets 5 year old carpets look as good as new. Highly recommended!

I contacted this company because they were «bonded and insured» came highly regarded on city search and Unilocal and guaranteed technicians with 15 years of experience.
The techs that came to our home were MAYBE 20 years old and they belonged to a sub contractor. The cleaning unit they used leaked water onto our hardwood floors in the hall and caused damage. The carpets were dirty in places that had previously been clean. and at the end of the day it was just a mess. They blamed the dirty carpets on soot under my carpets from when the building was built (THIS IS A NEW CONDO BY THE WAY) Ken at Sparkling carpets assured me they would take care of everything and for the next 2 months I got the run around from their sub contractor. TRI COUNTY CARPET CARE —
They tried a dehumidifier which didnt work, then later told me they were not responsible at all.
Finally Ken filed an insurance clain after I told him I would go to the Better Business Bureau and file a claim. Their insurance found them NOT LIABLE because they hired a sub.
The case then went to tri county’s insurance (same insurance company). What gets me most of all is that the guys at Tri County striaght up lied to their insurance comany and told them that the damage was there before their arrival. After 3 months of this nonsense they ruled in my favor but all I can say is Buyer Beware.
You had better check the crudentials of the guys that actually clean your carpets.

Ken, Jerry is a liar, and now you are too, you guys spilled the water on the floor, your tech tim admitted to it, then when you found out the cost to repair you back peddled like hell. Whe tried your dehumidifier and and it didnt work — in fact it leaked further so YES we turned it off after 15 hours if you recall correctly — We tried to deal with this nicely but you guys just lie and lie and lie so YES, I am going to call you on it.
To say I wouldnt cooperate is a joke when a week would elapse between each time I would call to schedule for help and your tech Jerry just wouldn’t return calls or show up at all.
you also say my wife didnt notice which is also a lie, she and your tech put towels down to soak up the water and have pictures to prove it.
I thought before that you were an honest business man and your sub was the one to blame, but clearly your values are challenged as well.

I had my small sofa cleaned by Sparkling Carpets today and I wasn’t impressed. There were a few *very* minor stains on the seating that I wanted taken care of, and I wanted an overall cleaning to remove the general dust and grime that has settled into my sofa over 6 years of ownership.
I think my sofa might look worse now that it did initially, since some dirty water or whatever left a noticeable mark in the corner, and near the top back portion. Yuck. Also, the guys doing the cleaning barely said 5 words to me the entire time. Not that you have to be a chatterbox but some courtesy and explanation of what you’re doing is in order when I let you into my home.
Oh, and they left a bunch of water on my rug. It would have been really easy to move this rug, do the cleaning, easily clean up any water that had gotten onto the hardwood floor, then replace the rug. I guess that was too much trouble. I mean, the rug has to be at LEAST 4′ x 6′.
All this for 100 bucks.
Amendment: I’m downgrading my original 2-​star rating to 1-​star after a few more weeks of being annoyed at the marks these guys left on my couch.

I was impressed with Sparkling Carpet’s website being the most informative specifically with water damaged carpet. NOTE: If you think you also have mold/​mildew damage as well, I strongly suggest contacting this company as a starting point. They will give you a well informed and realistic opinion of how extensive your damage is, instead of jacking up the prices that are out of context with the actual damage.
I spoke with Ken (that’s his short-​name) and he was just FANTASTIC to talk to on the phone. His listened to my situation (where most companies didn’t) and even though it was a small job (just being a short hallway), gave good and honest advice. Ken was also great with following through and excellent communication. I asked for a price estimate ranging from a starting amount (if it’s mild damage) to the anticipated maximum amount if the water damage if more extensive that’s found. The actual scheduling was a bit bumpy but in this case it wasn’t Ken’s fault. What was really impressive is that he was proactive and resolved the situation right away by having someone come later in the evening the very next day so I wouldn’t have to miss work. VERY IMPRESSIVE!
Jerry, who came to look that the damage was just as FANTASTIC ! He was professional, very knowledgeable, genuine and his pricing was very reasonable. He addressed the problem right away, explained what he can do and got to work on the carpet right away. Not only was Jerry’s work impressive but his advice was tremendously helpful. He was very attentive in looking at the water damage and listening to me explain the problem.
Any kind of water damage can be very stressful and make your life upside down for a while. This company really helped get down the problem WITHOUT over diagnosing the damage, blowing it out of proportion and over charging me.
Thanks for taking away my headache and reinforcing that I made the right decision with handling a situation that could have been easily a nightmare! GREAT JOB from START to FINISH!!!

I used them a year ago. Found them on Craigslist. They were pleasant enough on the phone so I went ahead and booked them. On the day of, 2 guys arrive, late. One who didn’t speak much English who did most of the work, and one who wouldn’t shut up with his colorful perceptions of various demographic groups of the city.
As they trampled through my home, my carpet in their outdoor shoes, I expected them to move basic furniture around such as dining room chairs in order to clean the carpet around them. I didn’t expect them to toss my chairs, feet first, onto my nice clean sofa. Nor did I expect them to have their equipment, tube and all, on my nice clean comforter, on my bed, when cleaning the carpet in my bedroom.
Dumping the dirty water into my bath tub and toilet was fine, but a curtesy flush and rinse off the edge of the tub would have been nice. They trampled through my home, through the wet carpet again on their way out. Once the carpet dried, it was kinda of cleaner, but there were edges that still look dirty.
The owner of the company contacted me for feedback. I politely told him what I thought. He apologized and offered a free cleaning. I scheduled my free cleaning a few months later. I scheduled for an appointment earlier in the day so that perhaps they’d arrive ontime rather than late.
I gave up after 3 hours of waiting and let the building addendent let them in. They arrived about 1 hour after I left, 4 hours after the appointment.
They get one star for showing up to do a decent job. They get one star for attempting to correct past mistakes.
