Stompers Boots

Such an awesome boot shop with a great variety for anyone from cowboys, to construction, to kink! I went for a special event and found a pair of boots I absolutely loved. Even though he was being pulled 50 ways to Sunday, Tonka took excellent care of me and got me in the boots I loved at an amazingly fair price.
After I got home wore the boots with pride, and got amazing compliments at the bar, a defect in the boot caused an eyelet to come out. Tonka worked tirelessly to make sure the situation was fixed, and ended up getting a new pair shipped to my home so that I didn’t even have to come into the city to pick them up.
In a world of poor customer service, it’s good to see that Tonka and Stompers remembers that customer service is key to creating a repeat customer. I’ll be going back for my next pair of boots and would suggest them to anyone!

I will not be giving Stompers any more business after my experience with them at IML. I had stopped by to have custom measurements taken for Wesco boots (I want that perfect fit on my next pair), but the representative turned me away because he didn’t «have time» after he realized the sale was not going to be an immediate one.
Boots are expensive. If you have the money to buy custom boots, you don’t have to put up with attitude.

Randall did reach out to me to repair my boots, and they were repaired at their expense. I was told this manufacturer had problems with snaps on (mostly) on boot in a pair and that it was not uncommon.
I appreciate that they took care of it, but I will not purchase boots here in the future. This never should have been an issue in the first place.

Been going here since I first started motorcycling regularly — back in ancient times… Recently picked up a new pair of Wescos and got the same solid service. With boots being my last non-​vegan indulgence, I’m happy to support this local business.

Spectacular service. I purchased custom made Westco’s, but before I did they warned me about the wait, so I could decide whether to proceed.
Around the estimated ship date I received notification about a delay. Once they were ready to ship I received another email.
It’s all about communication and service. The boots arrived. I’m now hooked on getting something that fits me perfectly. If go back in an instant!

VERY frustrating end to a wonderful day.
Malice Darling was going to buy me a pair of boots for our anniversary.
Stopped in at Stompers Boots. Through the years they have sold us countless pairs of boots. We regularly bring in all of our biker friends. Mike McNamee started an amazing business, and has always been honest, fair, and has treated his customers well.
Not just production boots, like the TUKs, the carolinas, my Frye Rally Boots, we have bought many pairs of custom Wesco Boots from them. A couple of pairs of 18″ pig skin lined Engineers, a pair of crotch high big boss, a pair of stompmaster 18″ (first pair ever sold, I believe, in fact my picture wearing them is on the website at

My wife has custom red/​black flame Phoenix boots made two years ago.
Mike no longer owns the business, and it shows.
Today when Lori and I showed up at the shop we were told we could not be in there with Mongo (who was actually wearing his heavy harness with service dog Tags).
«I explained that he was a trained service Dog, whereupon I was told by the very rude gentleman at the desk that unless I was carrying a «service dog license» for him, I would not be allowed in.
I told him that he had no right to make that demand and that he was breaking federal AND state law. He would not relent.
SO, I called my ADA attorney, Matthew Karpinski, who explained to the person chapter and verse how they were violating the law, what a business owner may and may not ask for, etc.
He also explained that they were in violation of federal law, AND that he personally was engaged in a misdemeanor that could result in one year of jail time.
The worker took it with a very poor grace. HAD HE APOLOGISED or seemed contrite, this would not be up here, but INSTEAD he continued to be defensive.
Elizabeth Poore-​Jennings, as you are a service dog trainer, feel free to spread the word to all about this.
Matthew, I am unsure if I want to pursue actions … but I want to keep my options open. Does this statement being timestamped, and the cell record, leave enough of a paper trail?
Mike McNamee, the brand you worked so hard to build is being hurt by these actions, and while I know you are no longer the owner I thought you’d like to know.
Wesco Boots, can you let my MC know where else in the Bay Area we can get measured for custom Wescos? ALSO, your brand is closely associated with Stompers… thought you might want to know that the company is no longer as reputable and honest as it was under the previous owners.
I am very disappointed in a company I have done business with since it opened.

The owners reached out to me, they have corrected the employee, drafted guidelines, and shown actual contrition.
I will choose to judge them on how they responded to the problem, rather than the initial problem itself.
I will be shopping there in the future.

Great customer service and great boot selection. Went here to pick up some Corcoran Jump boots after mine were stolen from my car a month previous. They had a great selection to choose from and I was able to find the exact model I was looking for. He even put them on my feet and laced them up. I wore them out of the store and it’s a good thing because a few hours later my car got broken into again. They didn’t get my new boots!

A neat little boot shop with a nice atmosphere and very helpful staff. Didn’t buy anything as they didn’t have the exact color/​sole combo I was looking for (they checked, and they were out of stock on the manufacturers website as well), but still a good experience and would happily go there again.
Selection isn’t huge, but very specific to certain brands that are hard to find in person elsewhere (Chippewa, Wescos, etc.) so maybe call ahead if you don’t have one or two brands in mind.

These guys have a cool shop full of a ton of American made boots. They also carry Gripfast which are actually still made in the UK. They had exactly what I was looking for and were very helpful, friendly and knowledgable ! Will come back for sure.

Randall knows boots and knows how to deliver customer service. In a matter of weeks he solved a problem with a pair of Wescos that had existed for over a year.
I will be placing repeat orders. Customer service like this is hard to find. And worth returning to.

Rude, clueless, and useless. They screwed up my order so badly. And then to add insult to injury, they kept screwing it up. I swear to God they were paying ZERO attention to my order, and what they were doing in general. One time I stopped by in person and Ken was on the phone with some Police Dept. who’s entire order was screwed up.
I hear the place is under new management now. If they can fix all the bad stuff and actually serve their customers with respect — and actually have the ability to take an order and get it right the FIRST time — then I will come back and update this review/​rating.

If you want boots, look no further than Stompers. Harness, motor, combat, western, patrol boots – they have them. The Stompers staff is courteous and helpful. Shipments are prompt and the boots are always in perfect condition. Ken knows how to take care of his customers and I’m happy to always come back and buy my boots from him. If you want boots, there’s no better place to shop and find them than Stompers.

I heard that Ken has sold the store to a new owner and decided that I had better get a pair of Wesco Harness boots that i have wanted for some time. Ken had previously on 1−11−12 had gone over details of Wesco harness boots that he has the computer available for doing. I was interested but decided to wait and now suddenly with Ken selling the store found that I needed to get a pair ordered. Ken’s knowledge about Wesco boots and details of having what you wish was important how to order them was important and since this was his last week, I decided to order. The price has gone up by $ 100 in 2 years and that was expected.
It will take 3 mos for the boots to be made and sent, but I am in no rush. I had purchased my first pair of wescos at the factory where they did careful measurements and sent the boots in about 3 mos too.
Ken has been a very knowledgable boot person and will try to order you exactly what you wish. Only sadness in loosing a trusted owner and helper to obtain boots that you wish to have.

So here’s the gist… I went into the store to purchase a pair of (Corcoran) boots, which are hard to find a retailer for. Which is great.
The crappy part… after being told it would take 5 – 7 business days to arrive (no problem, pretty normal), I walked out kinda sad they didn’t carry the boots in stock. But either way, a small wait for a great pair of boots is not a big deal.
However, after waiting two full weeks, I decided to give them a call and ask «what the hell?». I received the response that corcoran has just been «busy» and they will be sent out that day or the next. But today, just on a hunch, I rang them up one more time to possibly get a delivery routing number, or something. but instead I was told that «they are out of stock, and might be shipped out sometime next week».
Good boots, crappy service. This is my general impression of this small business after being given this run-​around. I am a mechanic, my old boots’ sole is halfway off, and i can’t get these guys to speed up for the life of me.
If you don’t mind waiting a RIDICULOUS amount of time for a pair of boots, you CAN get a good pair with them. But if you need boots in sooner than a month… good luck.

I’ve never been so turned off by any small business owner he was extremely rude to my boyfriend and I, therefore causing us to not purchase anything from his store.
He made a slight racial comment when my boyfriend mentioned a comparison to Red Wing boots. And was saying we were rude by looking up the boots online on our phones when we were doing something completely opposite of looking up boots! He made a horrible assumption.
Ive never been so offended by a salesperson/​business owner. I would never go back to this store and never purchase anything from this establishment.

I’ve been driving by this place for years and always wanted to check it out. I was recently in the market for boots and decided to check it out. They didn’t have the exact pair I wanted, but something similar at a great price. After trying on a few different sizes, the clerk checked in the back and found the same pair I was trying on from their consignment collection. After digging around a little more I found the exact pair I was looking for. I had a great time chatting with the staff and was stoked on my purchase. Unfortunately the sole off one of the boots started coming off. I called the shop and Ken offered to reimburse me for the repair of the boot, even though there is an all sales final policy on the consignment boots. When I wear these out I’ll go back for sure.

they tell you it will be15 weeks it 23 weeks at least the boots where so poor in quality made wrong many flaws in the boots stiching was poor and missing lose ends left hanging laces where not lined up with toe of boot off to the side looked horible.
i bought them at iml this last may 2013 got them in oct 2013 was so looking forward to having custom made boots its been a night mare still tring to get my money or the shoes remaded they are not helpful at all call them they tell me one thing then never follow though i call back and they do not know what i am talking about. so save your $ 600 bucks and go some where else

I order expensive boots from them and I called three weeks after they were suppose to be delivered and they told me they forgot to place my order. Now I have to wait 2 more months.

I’ve bought 2 pairs of boots from Stompers over the last few months. A pair of Wesco’s and a pair of GripFast’s.
There are a number of things that are great about Stompers:
1) They have the best selection of boots around that I have ever seen and in a variety of styles. Great brands like Wesco, Sendra, Frye, Chippewa, etc etc, so you’re going to find something you like here. They also have a large consignment area where you might stumble upon a gem at a good price.
2) Service has always been exceptional and Ken has always looked after me. I would certainly shop there again.
3) Convenient location — not far from major bart or muni lines and parking isn’t too bad during the day either (not withstanding the ridiculous cost of SF metered parking… can’t blame Stompers for that!).
So, if you have a thing for boots, you can’t really do better than Stompers. They have enthusiastic customers literally all over the world, so we’re lucky to have them right here.

Who decided to wear a year-​old pair of Kangaroos for an all day trek around the city? This guy. My feet were screaming around mile 14 and I remembered a coworker mentioned an awesome boot shop at 10^th and Folsom.
And what an awesome shop it was! The place smelled of leather and testosterone and featured an extensive selection of high-​quality new and consignment footwear at excellent prices. Top-​notch customer service had this first-​timer feeling like an old friend. We browsed inventory, talked about favorite boots, and laughed about squeezing my abnormally large calves into 10 inch lace ups.
I left the store with a new pair of Carolina Loggers and a smile on my face. My feet are still rejoicing. Thanks guys!
