The cutest place to get succulents from. Staff is super nice. I’ll definitely come back for a succulent worship.

I was excited to visit Succulence because the owner has hosted two Terrarium workshops at the company I work for. Since I live in the city, I wanted to check out the store and purchase some new plants to start my succulent garden. As I entered the shop, I was greeted by an attendant briefly, who then turned his back to me. I walked through the shop and noticed I was the only one in there besides three employees… who proceeded to ignore me the entire time I was there. I browsed for 15 minutes on the patio, picking up plants and wondering why no one was addressing me. Finally, I decided I wasn’t going to give my business to people who weren’t going to acknowledge me, put my plants back on the shelves, and headed to the door. I passed all three of the employees working there, and NO ONE SAID A WORD. No have a good day, thanks for stopping bye, nothing. Let me remind you, there were no other customers in the store.
I was scrolling through reviews and noticed another negative experience where the reviewer and an African American couple were thoroughly ignored by the staff. I guess you can add me to the list of wrong color clientele.

This place is so magical from stones to air plants and many many strains of cacti/​succulents. Since I’m from NY I don’t have as much selection so typically I order online. Going in person was really worth it, I also scored on a pretty decent size succulent for $ 7 which is very cheap considering how good of condition the roots were.

This place has everything you need!!! Lots of selection of succulent, cactus and other plants to build a terrarium. Also they have lots Of color and size options for stones, sand and moss! I bought everything I needed for my small terrarium for $ 14!!! (sans box/​pot).

The pictures are deceiving because this place is tiny!!! It took us 5 minutes to walk around. Super cute things though, just very pricey as expected.
I thought the outside area with the succulents would be bigger, as the place is called Succulence but hey, it’s in the city… what can you expect?

If you are looking for a great selection and professional knowledge — this is the place to go. I walked in just to take a look at some succulents for my terrarium (of which I knew little on how to construct), and ended up walking out with a beautiful looking set up. Now my terrarium is the center piece of my dining room table! I can honestly say there is no way it would have looked this good if I attempted it solo.

Love this place! The staffs were so nice and answered all my questions politely at all time. I came here without knowing much about succulents, and leaving with a bag full of plants and planting supplies lol
Although this place is quite expensive compare to other plant stores, the experience and quality of everything inside the store is just great after all :)

I recently had the urge to work on my mother’s front yard and give it some life. Since succulents are drought-​friendly, I decided this would be the best option for us. I found this cute shop online and decided to check it out. They have a good variety of succulents to choose from and the workers are very helpful. They have decent prices, but I ended up getting carried away and spending a lot more than I bargained for. In the end, it all works out since you barely have to water your plants. During the winter time, you only have to water once every 3 weeks. I definitely recommend this place and hope to visit again soon.

For starters, the staff is very friendly. I came in not knowing anything about succulents, other than the fact that they’re pretty, and the staff gave me pointers on everything — from how to decorate and set up a terrarium, to how to take care of the succulents, to which succulents would pair well with each other. It definitely makes shopping so much easier when the people who are helping you, actually want to help you and are knowledgeable about what they’re doing.
Succulence also has pretty reasonable prices. For less than $ 85, I walked away with: A 2.5-pound bag of succulent soil, 5 tin pots, 6 pounds of pebbles, and 12 succulents.
Overall, if you’re looking for a nursery with a wide variety of succulents and materials to decorate your terrarium, this is a great spot to turn to. Can’t wait to go back.

This succulent shop is adorable, I don’t know what to say because photos can speak for themselves. BUTTT I will try to muster something up.
It’s a small shop that’s easy to miss and street parking can be difficult. You walk in and there are literally every type of succulent terrarium thing you can imagine. From hanging glass orbs, to tin pails, and hanging wall letters with succulents growing out of them. They also offer workshops/​classes and help to make your terrarium to fit your liking! Make sure you go all the way to the back of the store outside for more beautiful succulents!

I went to the succulent DIY workshop and had an amazing experience and had to share!
— awesome instructor, very personable and knowledgable and guided us every step of the way
— we were allowed to use a variety of pebbles, sand, succulents and moss! (basically anything in the store) So many different types it was hard not to try and stuff them all into my terrarium!
— such a cute location and fun class! I would definitely do it again :) maybe try out their vertical garden class
They also do private events too!

Excellent supply of plants! This store is so cute. They have everything from various succulents to soil and rocks to decorate your homemade terrariums with. They have a nice greenhouse in the back for plants that require a bit more sun.
Staff is helpful and knowledgable. I’ll come back once I’m ready for a bigger terrarium.

«Hell no!» is more like it and I tend not to use phrases like that.
Two women were walking out as I was walking in. The clerk practically shouts them down wishing them a welcome. Meanwhile, he simply glared at me and turned his back. I let it go because I wanted to wait and see how he greeted others.
Another couple walked in minutes later — African American — and he had nothing to say to them either. Yep, you guessed it, selective greetings for the white, I mean, right customer. This is San Francisco and whether you like it or not, there is diversity. Deal with it.
The window display is eye-​catching but the product selection isn’t that spectacular and the glasswork is horrid. If they are going for an old glass feel, it’s not working. It just looks bad with bubbles in all the wrong places.
I’ll be screenprinting this review in the event it gets deleted and take it from there.

The owner of the shop has contacted me to address my concerns. It has been very positive. He strives to create an environment that is welcoming to all visitors and has a proactive plan of inclusiveness in his business practices.
It troubled him to hear about my experience.
I may never know what the intent of the clerk was. My experience in the store that day had put a damper on the good energy I was having that morning and I shook it off so that I could continue having the great day I was having. The owner of the shop really turned things around for me as far my overall opinion by making this statement, «I understand your concerns and how real they are» He did not try to dismiss my concerns or make light of my experience. Most of all, he genuinely wants me to come away from this with a more positive experience and he has.
Also, he has invited me to meet with him and his staff. I visit a nearby shop on a regular basis and will take him up on the offer.

I would not expect such a place along all the neighborhood shops on this block. It is such a hidden gem and a very enjoyable place to visit whether you’re shopping for a gift, plants for a terrarium, any necessities for any succulent garden like glass bowls, sand, moss, rocks, etc. You can pretty much find everything here!
I came on a Saturday before closing time so I got to enjoy the spacious shop with just a few other customers. It was very pleasant to walk through the store seeing the already made terrariums to get ideas and the unique accents they offered for all types of planters.
My favorite section was the outdoor green house where there were tons of selection of all types of succulents. I have a tiny bowl at my desk at work, so I was able to choose from the $ 4 plants. The prices varied depending on the size, which was reasonable but can add up very quickly.
I did not personally need help, but the other customer shopping was getting a lot of advice from the worker which seemed very helpful. I will definitely be back next time I need new succulents or even if I happen to be in the neighborhood.

This place has some cool displays and arrangements!
So much to choose from to satisfy your succulent needs and last minute gift shopping. I especially liked the the small green house in the back with the wall planters. The prices are high, but if you are in need of succulents and don’t want to drive all over than this place works. Staff was friendly.

A fabulous afternoon
Two girlfriends and I did a terrarium making class here on a Sunday afternoon (it was my birthday gift from them).
The whole class from start to finish was so awesome — from picking our plants, to designing the inside with glass and sand and moss and pretty colored rocks.
They told us all about the different types of succulents; how to care for them, how to maintain them, and even how to take cuttings and grow new ones!
A great time and they even put on wine and nibbles! Definitely give this a try :)

It’s a bit pricy but they have really cool, creative & great quality things here!!!
You can buy a letter or shape for a wall hanging succulent garden & either pay for a class to assemble or have them make it for you! … Great date night idea!!!

This is a great place to go to be inspired or to purchase a pricy gift for something is into plants & especially succulents. They also sell organic & GMO free seeds.
I will definitely come back here & bring my plant loving parents when they are in town next!

Love at first sight
If you’re on that terrarium hype right now, this is paradise for you.
They offer a large assortment of succulents, homes for them, and even extra décor.
It seems a little intimidating at first considering there are so many options but! Have no fear! Their customer service is as lovely as their products.
I never built a terrarium before and the Succulence was warm in welcoming me to its world. The worker explained what’s necessary vs unnecessary, how much charcoal needed, what plant is good for what type of environment etc.
They also offer workshops and workspace to build stuff. A bit over my budget but from pictures and what I’ve heard, you get your money worth.
Everything was at a reasonable price. The real wallet breaker were the glasses.

This is my first Unilocal review. And this place definitely deserves my very first five-​star rating.
I initially went to a plant nursery down the street on bayshore blvd to look for some cheap succulents. They were not well taken care of and the variety was limited. I had no idea about them. I just know that those plants are hard to kill even with such neglect. So I thought they would be perfect for my girlfriend. Don’t tell her.
I had no pressure to buy the plants at all. It was just a present for one year anniversary. We spent our special day on delta airline for 17hrs from Asia with the world’s best cuisine. Sarcasm intended. I had to buy the indoor plants as it was my best idea that my jet legged brain could come up with.
Succulence store went above and beyond helping me build my own terrarium with clear step-​by-​step instruction. I wanted to give most credit to Dan who was not only knowledgable about plants but well-​versed in providing customer service to a clueless client like me. He was patient, professional, and encouraging (important as I was on the verge of just buying roses from trader joe’s).
Dan only charged me for half-​hour of professional help although I am sure I took forever changing my mind. I will surely come by here again with my girlfriend to explore.

I love a store dedicated to plants that I cannot kill. So of course I loved this place. But it’s more than just the plants, it’s the people who work here. Just because I cannot kill these interesting little plants didn’t mean that I was entirely comfortable being round them. I think that showed and the people who work here came to the rescue by answering questions and pointing me in the right direction.
This is a one stop shop for everything you need to build your own terrarium, vertical garden, or to pick up a plant or two. You can also purchase a pre-​planted terrarium. In addition, they offer a variety of services such as landscaping, classes on terrarium building and vertical gardens, and wedding arrangements. Cool stuff!
