I’m leaving a review for the grilled chicken super burrito. I’ve had it way too many times and it’s so amazing and delicious and can never get myself to try anything else here. And I’m like, a big Mexican food fan. And I like the authentic Mexican food, spicy and flavorful. I’ve tried so many burritos from so many other taquerias in the city, and this one wins it for me. I also love the salsa bar here. Love the roasted jalapeños and avocado and regular salsas. Can’t speak for all the other food, but the grilled chicken super burrito… man its the best!

Let me start by saying I am from San Diego where the Mexican food reigns supreme. This place is by far the best Mexican«taco shop» in the Mission. We had the super nachos with asada, which were bomb! Plenty of cheese and real avocado. We also had the lengua and grilled chicken tacos. The chicken was okay, but the lengua was pretty good. The habanero salsa was not only hot but it was fresh and tasty.

My go to burrito spot. The salsa bar for chips or the burrito itself is the best. The green and red sauce are my favorite but others are great as well.

We rolled in here about 45 min before closing and it’s dead quiet, just us and one other guy. Street parking is deserted… it looks slightly more expensive than other places… so I’m initially skeptical. Then I got my food and started eating and ZOMG5 stars! In a neighborhood like the mission it can be hard to stand out as a Mexican joint. How does this place do it? Outstanding shrimp(available in burritos etc), mind blowing chorizo, and above average salsas. I got half and half shrimp chorizo nachos and OHMAN was that the right call, even if the $ 12 price tag puts it solidly above some other(non-be-shrimp-tacled) places. Will come back any time, and it can be nice to have the quiet atmosphere over the chaos that is el farolito. Watch out for the habanero salsa, it’s rough. I prefer the jalapeño one. Now if they’d only price that horchata more cheaply…

Fantastic burritos, great chips, super reasonably priced at $ 8, and no line like papalote. Authentic, true Mexican food.

A catalog of my Taqueria Guadalajara inner dialogue: * It’s a mess in here. Tables aren’t cleared. It smells unpleasant. If I weren’t getting a to-go order I’d not stay. * A regular Carne Asada burrito is $ 7.50? When did that happen? * Sketchy looking salsa bar. I hope it’s safe.(This is before I even see Gabriela W’s fitting comment, «busted a** salsa bar, like the kind that makes you think of hepatitis A»). * Chips in my bag? Nice. I love chips. That’s when my inner dialogue morphed into something else entirely: Two bites into the first tortilla chip I realize it’s the worst tortilla chip I’ve ever encountered. I spit it out and reach for the burrito. In my first bite of burrito I encounter a chewy, gristly, inedible slice of carne asada. I spit it out and hope for better luck with bite number two. Bite number two yields the exact same results. I spit again. I’ve now spent more time spitting than consuming. The burrito appears to have no salsa(despite what the menu said). It’s fatty, chewy, awful meat, with pinto beans, and rice. Did I mention that I was starving, trying to eat while driving and searching for a parking space? I reach for some(hep A) salsa to give the crap burrito some flavor. The salsa container unleashes. I’m covered in the stuff. It’s on my coat, my car seat, my shirt, my jeans. Dinner as metaphor. I park. Bag up my spit sack and deposit it in the nearest trashcan. Taqueria Guadalajara, for those times when you’d rather spit than swallow.

I came here with high expectations and was sorely let down. I got a carnitas taco and al pastor taco. I felt that while the carnitas had a pleasant crunch to it, the tacos/meat were under seasoned/salted. One of the tacos was the original and the other one had the sour cream and avocado. While the avocado and sour cream were fine additions, it didn’t scream authentic to me. The original taco was drenched in some kind of sauce/salsa that I also felt was unnecessary. The woman at the cash register must have been having the worst day of her life because she was not having it. My friend ordered and gave the woman her card to pay and the women quoted her the price for the meal. My friend asked her why it was so high and we found that the woman was charging her for a shrimp taco supreme(she wanted the regular without the peppers). The woman had not yet charged the card so my friend asked her to please adjust the price/order to what she wanted. The woman angrily said that could not be done, turned her back to us, marched over to the CC machine, and swiped the card much to our surprise. My friend said fine its only a few bucks difference but asked her if they could at least not put peppers in the taco but the woman again angrily said no they could not(since obviously we were asking for her to bring us the moon). The unwanted taco arrived peppers and all. Only redeeming factor for this place was the fresh squeezed OJ. It came in a massive cup and was on point. Everything else was a fail. =(

Stopped in based on Unilocal reviews. I had the pastor tacos which had a different flavor than I’m used to. Not bad, just different. Their salsa was ok and I enjoyed their horchata.

I was really looking forward to coming to this place and trying it out because of all the reviews I’ve seen. I was in the city on a Thursday night trying to look for a place to eat and I stumbled across Guadalajara on Unilocal because it was the only location on Unilocal that says they were opened til 4am. My group was super excited because the prices were cheap according to Unilocal. When we arrived we found the restaurant to be closed and an employee outside cleaning shouted that they were closed when we tried entering the restaurant. I’m not normally the type to rate low reviews but I found it completely unprofessional how the employee shouted at us. I’ll change my review when I get to try it when it’s opened.

Very solid taqueria, nothing extraordinary but holds its own on the mission scene. Their salsa bar is kinda jank and they’re not going to be as fast as Farolito, Pancho Villa or Cancun but their food is legit. I had a grilled chicken super burrito and it was up there with its peers.

My mom was born in Guadalajara. She cooks the legit s***. Always has, so my palate is well-trained. I was expecting this taqueria to throw down, be my surrogate SF mama, transport me to a magical place. Denied. Busted a** salsa bar, like the kind that makes you think of hepatitis A. The tostadas and enchiladas were decent. That’s it. Minus ten points for using lard to make their retried beans. They packed my tostadas in foil. Another minus ten points. I’m sticking to El Farolito and El Toro.

You stupid Wednesday night at 8pm cashier bitch! The fact that I’m trying to pay for my burrito and your card machine isn’t working, is not my fault and than you treat me like a second class citizen because you slammed the machine even further damaging it and can’t charge me, hence snatching the burrito out of my hand as if I was a thief. Work on your interpersonal as well as intertechnological skills. Than don’t go off suggesting to me that I should withdraw money at the ATM across the street that’s going to charge me 50% of the burritos cost, or else you can’t serve me. FUCKYOU and FUCKOFF

Strictly found this place by hearing that the Mission is the place to get tacos and Unilocal. The ambiance is exactly what I would hope for when searching for great tacos. Soccer was on in Spanish, and they didn’t win any beautification awards from Home and Garden. They had a few beer choices. And you got some chips, salsa, and guac with your meal. The chips were decent at best. But the dips were pretty good. I got the steak, shrimp, pork, and chorizo tacos. All were really good. But the chorizo stuck out well above the others. And even though it would typically be favorite of mine, the steak was my least favorite. But you could tell the ingredients in each were fresh and delicious. I also had a bite of my dinner companions beef tongue. Something I have had before… but not often. And this was by far the best I have eaten. If you are looking for great authentic tacos and a cold beer, this is a great stop for you!

Came in here with no idea what to expect other than the fact that we could get some serious taco’s inside. Order at the counter from the no frills menu and make your choice between tacos, a burrito, or a few other entrees. The have a «super» options which adds cheese and stuff for an up charge. The place is small but we found a table after hitting the salsa bar and managed to steal a chair from another group. There’s a dingy convenience store vibe going on and a TV that was blasting a muy importante fútbol game. The offer a few soft drinks and a few beers to choose from too. I started with the free chips. I can’t say much because they’re free, but they weren’t made in house and were pretty terrible. The salsa on the other hand was great. You could have given me cardboard(chips were a similar equivalent) and I would have been just as happy to use it as a vehicle to get the salsa in my face. The tacos were the reason I was here and they didn’t disappoint. The carnitas was as good as everyone else says so definitely add it to your list. The surprise taco was the lengua. I had never had beef tounge, but was willing to give it a shot. The meat was so tender and delicious that it was a close runner up for first place on my plate. The pollo was good, but didn’t hold a candle to the others. Give this taco shop a shot on your next mission stop!

My boyfriend and I discovered this place earlier this week, and already went back for more! It’s delicious — truly a hidden gem of the Mission. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. Chips and salsa are free and unlimited, which is a nice way to pass the time while waiting for food. They also have some cool drinks. Aside from the standard sodas and beers, they had some Mexican drinks and sodas that looked enticing(although we just stuck with Coronas). I ordered the shrimp tacos(I tried Super one time and just the normal shrimp tacos the other time) — both were delicious, very flavorful and the right amount of spicy. Between the two of them, though, I prefer the normal tacos. They had a great salsa and seasoning on the shrimp that was very unique. The Super shrimp tacos had avocado, sour cream, onions/peppers and salsa. Still delicious, but my personal preference was«non-super.» I got two tacos both times, which was enough to fill me up with chips and salsa. I think 3 would be a good amount for someone with more of an appetite. The boyfriend got the steak supreme quesadilla both times. The quesadillas are HUGE, so be warned, but he was up to the challenge. The steak has a great seasoning and they use high quality cheese and tortillas.

Another incredible unknown mission burrito. Cheese was excellently melted and the fried carnitas was perfect. Very large size and excellent mix/composition. I almost couldn’t finish it. Décor made us feel like we were actually in Guadalajara. Will be back again soon after my burrito tour finishes.

We came here on a Friday night for a quick dinner. Though not a gold standard, the tacos are still pretty good. I have a taste for salt, so I needed to sprinkle some on mine. Their marinated pork(al pastor) are juicy and tasty. I think the pollo and asada are lacking a little. Beef was kind of dry. The corn tortillas are fresh and everything came out piping hot. I really like their salsa bar. They’ve got a lot more choice than most of the Taquerias, including picked carrot, multiple types of pickled jalapenos and one with sauteed onions. Salas are hot! Standard place and still great.

Repeat after me: El Farolito is not the only Mexican taco place near the 24th Street Bart. You could go to El Farolito. You could wait in line, you could deal with all the drunk white people coming back from the bars. You could probably even listen to them try and convince their friend that«This is the Best Burrito in all of NorCal, dude» as if limiting the competition to Sacramento and Tahoe somehow makes this impressive. I’m willing to bet these weekend warriors haven’t been down to San Jose, not counting that time they missed their Caltrain stop. Or you could walk down the street to Taqueria Guadalajara where everyone eating there probably could take a decent shot at pronouncing its name. Get some amazing Carnitas on whatever burrito/taco you order. Consider trying some other meats, get more carnitas instead. Enjoy their huge salsa bar. Marvel at the free chips. Drink the water in cups so clean, they still taste like soap. Be amazed at how little you spent. Sit down in the surprisingly spacious seating area. Be happy.
