Specialties

We are both an upscale resale store and a thrift store and one of the top fundraisers that benefits the Junior League of San Francisco’s community programs.

The Consignment Boutique is always looking for consignors who wish to consign their items. No need to be a Junior League member, just call to make an appointment!

The Consignment Boutique features premier and designer apparel and shoes, accessories, fine, estate & costume jewelry, and limited sterling silver, crystal, china, paintings, art and collectibles. (We are no longer accepting furniture for consignment)

Retail or wholesale merchants are also welcome to consign or donate samples, extra inventory or last year’s fashions. All donations are tax deductible, and we’ll provide a tax receipt.

For any items you would like considered for consignment, give us a call and we’ll provide direction.

History

Established in 1949.

As one of the Junior League of San Francisco’s largest and year-​round fundraisers, The Next-​to-​New Consignment Boutique and Thrift Shop generate funds to further the League’s mission of improving the community through the action of trained volunteers.

The Next-​to-​New Shop was started in 1949 and the Consignment Boutique began in 1996. The shop has been in its current location at 2226 Fillmore since 1967 and will celebrate 60 years of serving the community in 2009.

I should have come in here more when they were open. They had pretty high prices. Now that I think about it, every time I’ve been in there I bought something. I even got a cute pair of heels the last day they were open.

Came here when it used to be a bona fide thrift store years and years ago. So I was unpleasantly surprised when I discovered that it is now a «consignment boutique». What did this mean? Well, for starters, things were pretty pricey.
There was a cool lookin’ vintage Louis Vuitton bag that was a cool $ 750. C’mon, gimme a break.
I did not find anything here of value and (on the hunt for a bargain) was disappointed.
I suppose having a consignment store makes it more attractive for people to «donate» their goods; there is an incentive to getting some $$$ back for your one-​of-​a-​kind item. However, if people were truly altruistic, they would be better off donating items outright. If a % did not have to be given to the donor, then the savings could be passed on to the customer and it would be a win-​win situation. Anyway, that is how I operate. Then again, I don’t have any vintage Louis Vuitton bags lying around, only a YSL one (and I don’t know what to do with it!).

I had a weekly doc’s appt. and wandered down to the shop to look for vintage Mexican jewelry and ended up with a nearly new, $ 50,000.00 Louis Ferraud Golden sable coat for less than $ 900.00! My furrier had green eyes that became greener when I turned up with a gorgeous full length white mink with Neiman Marcus label. Both I proudly wear even though I have paid full retail for furs at Neiman’s, Saks and I. Magnin.
The help has NEVER BEEN SNOTTY!
One day I may buy clothes, as yet I haven’t found any. I do find decorative treasures and books.
I figure the furs are dead wives’ coats and it doesn’t bother me as I treasure gifts from them!

I generally don’t focus on labels and focus more on what I like, but what can I say … sometimes the stuff with the labels is just made better. and when it is at a discount, even better. I was checking out the sites on Fillmore street last Saturday with the BF in tow. He visits Goodwill weekly so we pretty much had to check out any consignment store or heaven forbid there had been an estate sale! :) The store is much better organized, I think they changed it around since the last time I visited. We found a gorgeous Gucci blazer for my boyfriend, he’s 6’4″ so impossible to find things for! On the same day snagged myself some cute Cole Haan pumps that are so comfortable to walk around the city in. Staff was friendly and helpful, didn’t try to push the sale. They let us discuss the purchases by ourselves, which I prefer. Overall had a good experience, check it out.

I meandered in here today after running a few errands. I hadn’t been in the store in a while, and I found it much easier to navigate than before. Shoes are displayed on racks by size, and types of clothing are grouped in different parts of the store. I saw a lot of higher end brands I didn’t expect to see — like Chanel, Joie, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin. The staff was friendly and accommodating. All in all a great experience!

I was on Fillmore yesterday and walked by the Junior League NTN store — what a great place! The window was filled with sparkly wonderful dresses that made me think of playing dressup with mom’s fancy clothes as a kid. There are amazing deals here — granted high end merchandise is still going to be a little bit pricey even when severely discounted. Can’t wait for the next trip in to see what I find. Love the jewelry section too!

Came here on a Saturday and found 5 Tiffany pieces, 2 80’s Gucci purses, 1 Red Kate Spade tote, a couple pairs of Ferragamo pumps, a tan beat up Prada purse, a painting of a chef that was perfect for my kitchen, and enough estate engagement rings that left me half blind. I love vintage engagement rings!!!
The sales reps were volunteers but they all were dressed well and super helpful. No snootiness at all.

Whoa this place is expensive. But thanks for having $ 5 sales where I can get a next-​to-​new pair of cute patent peep toe stillletos! Oh I’m so excited. But… the Manolos were still too expensive. Sigh.

I like that this store has a variety of items besides clothes: furniture, pictures, household items, jewelry, accessories, etc. They have brand name clothes and not so brand name. Cheap prices. Not everything is top notch, but it ‘s good stuff, and you may not find something every time you go but what better excuse to keep going back?

One of my favorite consignment shops in the city. I found a great pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans for $ 10. That’s right T-​E-​N dollars. Great condition – nicely broken in and fit like a glove. Now, I don’t always find things every time I go in, but I don’t always find things in stores that sell brand new clothes, either. Personally, I’d rather look a little more and pay a lot less.

Very helpful! We went right after they opened from the remodel. Everyone was so willing to help, always bring new and exciting things to show you. Some great deals in there. $ 150 for a Chanel Skirt, $ 175 for long Burberry trench coat. very clean. would shop here again, although you do have to do a lot of digging and it can be cluttered.

Again, shopping at a thrift/​consignment store in this area, for me means higher end clothing and designer finds! And this place lives up to that expectation for me. Large store, lots of items, nicely organized, boutique feel with the wooden racks and wooden hangers. Huge selection of ball gowns, more than you normally expect to find in a second hand store.
My 2 disappointments were the following:
1. That the Gucci and Luis Vuitton bags were fakes. I was all excited about getting a Gucci bag for $ 50 but then my friend who is an expert at this stuff pointed out the bags were fake. Really good fakes but fake nevertheless. I was kinda expecting that they should identify the fakes from the real ones with tags disclosing which ones weren’t authentic, but then realized that the stores themselves might not have known also.
2. We were rushed out of the place by the staff. They kept on coming around saying in nasty tones that we had to leave in few minutes. And they would come around every 2 minutes starting 20 minutes prior to the close of the store. I felt like the women were unnecessarily nasty to us. Since it’s staffed by the Junior League I was expecting them to be nicer. It is possible though that it could have been an off day or something, and that is what I’m hoping.

I’m not much for thrift store trolling or dead people’s stuff in general, but this is a pretty cool shoppe. You always overhear interesting conversations and the well-​polished, classy minxes running it really dress the place up. Wander through — unlike others, it’s not at all scary.

You can get some really good deals here. I found a Zenga blazer for $ 95. The merchandise is in great shape and you never know what you will find. You have to dig and but it is worth the extra effort. Things seem to be running a bit more smoothly and the prices seem a little better. Great eclectic mix and things. The also have the next to new where the great deals are. I was able to get a fairing for my Yakima car rack for $ 4.50, it was brand new and the price tag out it from REI was $ 45. Great stuff at great prices, you can’t beat it.

Fantastic place to resell designer clothes! The helpful and friendly staff accepted all of my designer items — and all but one sold after two months. It was really nice to get a $ 500+ check in the mail (so that I can go out shopping again — ha ha!)
Some of the items that are sold are overpriced and dated (matronly to boot) — however, I found it to be a great place to sell my stuff at a very reasonable price — 50⁄50 split. Whatever Crossroads won’t take (which is almost all my stuff) goes to N-​T-​N.

I enjoy visiting this store on weekends when I spend a Sunday on Fillmore having lunch at Vivande or Fresca then walking up and down the street shopping and visiting friends and sales staff.
This store is a fun place because it’s fairly small, has furniture, crystal, porcelain and art objects as well. I never know what I might buy.
I recently moved and sold my furniture thru them, it was painless, fast and easy.

This is the Goodwill store meets Shabby Chic, although considering the neighborhood it’s not surprising. Their mens selection is a bit limited but I will say they had a surprisingly good selection of suits. The staff is very helpful (and attractive, since it’s staffed by Junior League).
I recently donated a ton of my old professional clothing here and they were very grateful. It’s certainly better than selling it to Buffalo for a dollar and watching them resell for $ 15.

I’ve been holding off writing this review untill TODAY. Today I found what I’ve been checking there for for a whole year. A. Perfect. Vintage. Chanel. Jacket. PERFECT! FITS LIKE A DREAM! MAKES ME FEEL LIKE 5 MILLION DOLLARS… It only took weekly visits for an entire year… is that too high of a cost or effort?
No! OH, and check out the thrift store book section, they are preiced very cheaply. Great for getting and reading while you are waiting for your own Vintage Chanel Jacket.

For the brand-​conscious poor such as myself, consignment shopping in Pacific Heights is the answer to your woes. Yes, as expected, you have to dig. Yes, the service is kinda sucky (seriously though, who really needs help shopping?) and you might note that checking out takes for EVER. But if you can deal with taking your new (used) duds directly to the dry cleaner for grandma-​scent removal, this is the place for you. Happy hunting :)

This isn’t your usual thrift shop. European porcelain and Arts and Crafts furniture proudly displayed in the windows will lure you inside to find more of the same, plus an abundant selection of barely-​worn designer clothes. Since it’s a charity shop run by the Junior League of San Francisco, it does accept donations and, as a result, there’s a certain amount of garage sale-​type junk for sale, but the exceptional treasures outweigh the trash enough to elevate this to a second-​hand store that’s worth an occasional visit.
