The UPS Store

I have caught this store cheating each time I have used them in the last 18 months (I now use the Daly City Westlake store, a much longer drive for me).. When they measure your package (Let’s say 6×6×12) they type in 7×7×13, adding one inch to each measurement. They admit that they do it and they say it’s for «bulging» Bull. It’s for money. I reported them to UPS National Customer Service and was told it is ILLEGAL for them to do that and they would be disciplined. One year later, they are still doing it. I force them to change the measurements every time I ship from there. They are basically ignoring the National guys I guess.

Convenient location, but quality of service depends on which employee is helping you. The two guys are nice but the one girl seems to always be in a bad mood. Really don’t understand why she always has an attitude, but it’s quite entertaining to see her sit there, look at her phone, and ignore customers.
*Update: There is another girl working there now, she is efficient and seems a lot nicer than the other one. I haven’t seen the other one in a while so I will up this review to 4 stars!

I am a long time customer of this UPS store. I was very disappointed when the previous owners sold/​retired. The father/​daughter team were so helpful and friendly and I really developed a wonderful customer relationship with them after bringing hundreds of packages for shipping. (Yes, hundreds due to my employer.) They knew me; they knew my husband; they knew my children. Always had time for a smile.
Imagine my disappointment when they retired and the store ownership changed. I often bring my packages right when the store opens. This is the time most convenient for me right after I drop the kids off at school. Additionally, I can park right in front of the store instead of halfway across the parking lot which is very easy when I have 5 – 6 large UPS boxes to lug in. On at least two occasions, the store was not open at the designated 8:30 AM time. I waited outside in my car and watched someone zip up and unlock the doors at 8:40 AM. Then they have to turn on the computer system and get the program running. Not acceptable for a business. And no apologies for being late at all. (I was spoiled by previous owner Steve and Shawna as they had generally had their doors open before their posted open time!)
A change in work responsibilities meant I didn’t have as much work to ship anymore. But I still occasionally shipped items and had Amazon packages to return. The employees did their job. They were not super friendly. Not rude either. Kinda indifferent. Which is fine. As long as the package is shipped.
But I recently had to find a notary for my elderly Mom. We had multiple forms to complete with my father’s passing. Neither my Mom or I were in the best mental state to deal with these issues. My 80 year old Mom, who was slow to begin with, was absolutely devastated in her grief. Having her sign multiple forms for a notary was going to be a challenge.
My gratitude and appreciation to notary WILLIE YAPCHING for his patience in our three separate visits. He single handedly restored my faith in this neighborhood UPS store. My belated thank you to you. To the owner of this store: Willie is an asset to your business!

the cool asian lady is never around anymore. There’s usually a younger male and female here. The guy is cool. The female always has an attitude. I’m afraid to walk in when I see her.

I dont know what was up with the workers there. never go right at 1pm on a tuesday. This what I did. Apparently they get hungry and go right over to the sushi place next door for lunch at that time. So, don’t expect service right at that point. Or expect very quick, curt responses. And like theyre ushering you out because lunch is up.

I have a package has to be sent out on Monday ⁶⁄₈. I rushed to the nearest UPS store after work, by the time I parked my car in front of the store was 6:25PM. On the website, it says the store close at 6:30 so I was happy that I made it on it.
As I want to enter the door, the staff walked out the store and locking the doors. I asked the guy if they close at 6:30PM. He said: «yes, we are close at 6:30PM.» I look my watch and cell phone it’s 6:27PM that time. Then I said” it’s 6:27 right now, can I drop this package off.” the response is «nope, you can’t. ALL system are shut down already, we can’t do it. OH, you can go to Fedex across from us. they are open and maybe cheaper, too.» then he left as he finish locking the door. that time was 6:30PM.
If the business hour is 6:30PM, that means customer can enter the store before 6:30 not «LOCKUP and LEAVE» at 6:30.
I am very «impressed» by the way they handle customer service. They refer business to their competitor AND close before the business hour they stated to the public.
If you have some urgent package need to be sent out and you stuck at work. don’t go there before they close, be there early. Because all staff leave store at 6:30PM.
I will give zero star if possible.

Awful! I called today because I needed something notarized and I was only in town for one day. They are supposed to close at 5pm but when I called at 2pm the guy said he was leaving at 3pm. I told him we were on our way. I got my elderly grandparents up and rushed them over there (the docs were pertaining to them) and we got there at 2:40pm. The place was locked, dark and closed with a note pasted to the door saying they were leaving early. They had crossed out 3pm on the note and changed it to 2:30pm!!! They knew people were coming and still chose to close early! In fact while I was standing at the door in disbelief, three other ppl walked up for services and one guy said he’d also been told of the 3pm close time. I’m now at the West Portal location, giving someone who is honest with customers my business.

The guys here are idiots. If you have the «old school» labels for UPS account holders, don’t waste your time. Go to the West Portal location or Westlake store. These guys either a) can’t process them or b) won’t process them because they don’t know how the system works. I told the folks at Westlake about it and they couldn’t believe what I was telling them. The funny thing is, I’ve dropped off packages with the exact same labels before.

I shipped a lithograph to an eBay customer with the extra insurance paid in October of 2014. The item arrived damaged and an insurance claim was filed.
Its April 2015 and still waiting to get paid. UPS blames the store and store says UPS holding it up.

Sorry this review is so late. 2 weeks ago when I wanted to sent my computer monitor to a friend, the employee Ray helped me size up the price with packaging that I had put it in. He helped suggest to me a way I can save money by cutting down the box size. Unfortunately the price still wasn’t worth it to me.
I’m writing this review because Ray spent time helping me brainstorm ways that I could cost efficiently ship this box to my friend. He even calculated the estimated price if I’d use USPS instead of UPS.
So even though they didn’t get my business this time (they normally do), I had a good experience.

If possible avoid this UPS location at all costs.
If you look at the majority of reviews, they have a common theme: shitty customer service.
Theres a sad lonely lady who doesn’t understand the key aspect to a successful business: being good to customers. Right as i enter, i am «greeted» with a sarcastic and lazy undertone. Really sets the mood for the entire experience. I use the computer to print out some things at which I was notified it would cost 13 cents a sheet, normal. However they have a secret rule that they reveal once its time to pay. She charged me $ 12 for 2 mins on the computer. I refused to pay and she started barking at me like a lonely, upset dog. «I told you it cost that much, I told you!» She in fact didn’t inform me Or else I would’ve never touched the thing. She proceeded to metaphorically fart and wave it in my direction. And I wasn’t having it.
This isn’t the first time either, the first time I thought maybe it was just these employees that day. However a similiar bad experiance happened previously. Also most of friends complain about that place.
Moral of the story: Don’t go to this UPS, UNLESS, you like shitty customer service, uneasy atmosphere, hidden charges, and seeing a sad sad person try to run a successful business.

The worst and laziest ups drop off location ever! I walked in and the lady at counter didn’t even say hi and told me to drop my package (to return) on the scale. I walked past her and she pointed at the scale «right there!» What a bitchy attitude! I actually had to say hi to her to remind her of her shitty customer service attitude.
On top of this, yesterday when I was going to drop my package off before they close at 6:30pm, I found that they closed at 6:27 already. Does the manager know this? Geez. I don’t see how they can get 4 stars for this location!

Worst customer service. I had Christmas gifts delivered here on 12-​24-​2014. The UPS store advertised that they are open untill 2:00 PM on 12-​24-​2014. I arrived at 1:40 PM to find the store closed. I contacted Mr. Alfred Tam the owner on 12-​26-​2014, he said that they must have closed early because they had no business. Although I spoke to the workers the day before about the schedule, Mr. Tam does not understand why he should refund the overnight shipping charges of $ 30. The UPS corporate office is on the case. The bottom line here is AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS.

Rude rude rude… Asked for packaging tape which they sell but was told since my package is for USPS I need to get it there. And this is while they are processing my ups shipment.

Went to buy an envelope. The cashier said its 25cents. I hand her a five. She gives me 4.25 back. I tell her she owes me 50 cents. She takes my receipt and studies it for a couple minutes. Then hands me a quarter… Seriously?! You cant do BASIC math even with the register right in your face?!

This is a great place — always helpful and efficient!

Great location that has ample parking and surrounded by other shops you might want to hit up while there.
The staff is awesome and really helpful and accommodating. Prices are of standard UPS store which I consider good considering the aforementioned.
Would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone needing shipping, mailbox, notary, etc… services.

I was their customer at this store for last 7 years. I liked the family run and the location of this store. I rent a mail box for my personal use. I noticed that the owner changed recently. But I was hoping their service remain the same. However, months later, they posted a new price schedule for the mail box rental. The price was increased to sky high. I check the other UPS store near by. The price is much cheaper than here. I think I will give them a chance to inform them the differences. So I bring the price list to them to tell them the difference but the man just told me their price is fixed. Ok then, I think they just don’t want my business.

The guy that actually does the notaries is not always there so make sure you call first before you show up. It’s $ 10 per signature from him. Pretty quick if he’s there. Service is fine but not exactly professional. Make sure you bring your id.

I came in here one saturday morning. I had an interview that day and my printer at home had died. So i waiting outside until the UPS opened so I could quickly print my resume. A couple walks up and open the doors 10 minutes early and tell me that I can come in because its cold outside! It was really nice for them to do that and at no point did I feel uncomfortable waiting. I’ve been to so many print shops for big projects and what not because I am a graphic design student and usually the people working there are so unfriendly and want you to just leave. It was nice to be up so early and be welcomed by such nice people and such great service. I got my resume printed and given to me at no charge and was sent off with «good luck on your interview»
I got the job!
