just talked to Bill who walked me through some computer solutions for a failing system. He also brought up other concerns like backups, cost, and install strategies. He talked to me for 30 minutes and it was free. What a great guy.

We’ve had Bill troubleshooting everything electronic in our home for some 3 years now. He’s quick, versatile and intuitive. He’s also patient & non-​condescending with folks who used to type on IBM Selectrics… I particularly appreciate his functional approach («What is it you’re trying to do?») and his ability to coax unrelated hardware and software to work together (like iPhones and Gmail), something even the Apple Store people can’t always do. On his recent visit, Bill taught me tricks to get more out of my Mac laptop, set up easy backups for 2 computers, set up «Find My iPhone,» showed me how to download Bill Moyers podcasts, and attached an FM radio antenna. OK, he costs more than my therapist did, but the results are more tangible and certainly quicker!

The Zembu Group — headed up by Bill Melcher– has been my primary source to assist with the ever more complex world of new systems. It all seemed so easy back with 56K modems. Now our small business has 5 Windows 8 networked work computers. Zembu intalled them all and made our in-​house network work withoug a hitch. Bill has also assisted me personally with the components on my home TV/​music systems. The DVR, receivers, big screenTVs are not plug & play. Bill figured it all out fast and everything is performing perfectly. Highest Marks to Zembu Group!

2) Tech consultants are expensive, but Bill is so amazingly good at what he does that he works much faster than most, saving you time and money along the way. His ability to isolate the source of the problem quickly is actually fascinating to watch.
3) You never call a tech consultant when things are going well. When you call, usually it’s a big problem that needs fixing NOW. Bill is very accessible and responds quickly, thereby shortening the amount of time one has to fret that they’ve lost the only copy of their almost-​completed manuscript or a 20 year music collection.
4) IT experts have the difficult job of helping us analog people understand a foreign language. He’s a skilled, clear, simple teacher and has raised my own tech skills along the way.
5) Bill quickly identifies whether or not something is worth fixing. He always keeps an eye on costs for the client. He is honest when he tells you a certain part or repair would be cheaper to get somewhere else, and he even researches where you should take it.
Having employed many consultants in my 20 years as a Mac user, I can’t recommend Bill highly enough.

Bill has helped me out a few times now, all with me under a deadline or having some I.T.-related meltdown emergency. He’s calm, talked me through everything and recovered my data without a hitch (on our first meeting), and talking me into re-​installing Windows later on (best thing I’ve done for my computer!).

We’ve worked with Bill and the Zembu group for over a dozen years now, and always had positive experiences. A lot of our business’ Macs are hand-​me-​downs, working on older software, and frankly kinda kludged together. Since I am not an overly technical person, I am really at the mercy of the people I trust for tech. None of this has been daunting for Bill, who is always willing to tell me when something can continue to be kludged, and when it really is time to upgrade. I literally trust him with my livelihood.

Bill was great and more than I ever asked for. He came to my home helped repair both of my computer super fast. Plus, then just started helping make things better to each computer than I could have ever asked. Additionally, my one-​year daughter was totally entertained by him. Now how can you get a better IT service than that! I would recommend him to anybody with no reservations.

Zembu cleaned off my daughter’s computer, set up her new laptop to take to college, then transferred the data on my ancient machine to her old one so that I could inherit it. My network is faster, when before I was just grateful when it worked.
You’d think it’d be easy to find good tech support in a major urban center (and one as sophisticated as San Francisco), but I’ve had a long search. I’m a sucker for happy endings, especially when they happen to me.

Bill Melcher, at Zembu Group, saved us from our out-​of-​date home computer set-​up… it’s laughable but he was completely professional, amazingly knowledgeable, and had tons of helpful tips & advice all within our budget. We’re happily airport friendly, back-​up friendly, and are using more keyboard shortcuts — which actually save time and my frustration. Our system feels clean and operates smoothly. While we haven’t taken the full plunge overall, we will absolutely call on him when we do!

I met Bill from Zembu Group about 15 years ago and he helped me buy my very first computer. I call him the «Apple whisperer». Over the years many of my computers have been tamed and calmed by his touch. Sometimes it ‘s almost magical, my contacts reappear, my digital camera works like the salesman said it would, my iTunes streams from the computer to the kitchen, my lost data is recovered, my WiFi network WORKS… He really is amazing. He has also helped me with a number of other matters. When my husband passed away suddenly he came and got all my husbands contacts from his computer and helped me send out notices to everyone. What a guy.
And the best part is that he makes HOUSE CALLS!
I was also phappy to learn that they do home theater installations too — so one day they upgraded the hard drive in my laptop AND hooked up my LCD TV at the same time. Their motto is «read the manual. or call us». They’re not the cheapest, but they do what they say they will, when they say they will — well worth the price for personal attention.
Oh yeah, they setup my iPhone to get all my different email accounts too. I can’t (obviously) say enough good stuff about them. I’ll stop now.

I’ve owned my company for +20 years and seen a lot of tech folk come and go. This guy ROCKS! Not only is Bill Melcher cool and funny — who would expect that from a tech guy — but he also REALLY knows his stuff; he’s fast and… get this… he’s ultra ethical. He made this big deal about not taking my precious corporate data with him. He set up some weird little machine that held my hard drive right on my desk while he took away and fixed my computer. He’s not only a very knowledgeable professional and a nice guy who apparently really loves his little girl, he also gets the work done fast and done right. In a world of crazy, lazy, bad and boring tech guys, this man is King of the Mountain and worth every penny, yen, Euro or quid.
