I came to Golden Vision two years for the first time Anderson I had a great experience. Today I went back and I really am happy with my choice to come back. Reception I wish was a little friendlier instead of cutting me off while asking where do I check in. But everyone in the back was great. I went to a couple stations and I saw Dr. June Tse as my O.D. She was really easy to talk to and she answered all my questions and gave me great recommendations. I live in Pasadena and every eye place there is either super expensive or not contracted with my insurance. Don was helping me pick out my frames and I let him know my budget and what I was looking for. Within 10 mins I had my frames picked out and I added a few features to my lenses. Only sucky thing was that my insurance requires them to send the frames to their lab and Golden Vision can’t set me up same day to get my glasses. I have to go back in two weeks to pick them up. But that’s not Golden Vision problem just my insurance giving us a hard time!
Update:
So I did something very stupid. I lost my pair of glasses after having them for a week! I searched high and low for them and couldn’t find them for the life of me. Anywho I called and spoke to Don. He told me to come back in and see what we could do. So I drove over and luckily Don was able to help me right away. Unfortunately I had to pay out of pocket for the new pair, but Don was super helpful and within an hour I was out with my new glasses. I’d definitely recommend Don to help you with your frames!

This is actually my third visit and every time I’ve always had a great experience. This recent visit I needed new glasses and Angela Chan was so helpful and took her time to help me pick out the perfect pair. It took me only about 45 minutes to get a full exam, and to pick out my glasses. I also only had to wait an hour for my glasses to be done. Great customer service with little wait time!

After my last unpleasant experience, a representative from the corporate contacted me regarding my Unilocal review, which showed that the business cares and pays attention to its customer’s needs and satisfaction. She asked about my experience with my Ortho K order and apologized for the mess-​up and any inconvenience, as well as offered free supplies of contact lenses solutions.
We went back last month for a routine checkup — everything went well and the staff was friendly and patient.
Kudos to the efforts to make your customers happy.

Accompanied my Mom to select a new frame yesterday. Was helped by Mr. Michael Mak who was outstanding. There was minimal wait time for him. In fact, he delayed his lunch break in order to help us! He was extremely helpful, professional, knowledgable and patient. It felt as though he was helping his own Mom to select the ideal frame! He should be commended for all of his hard work in ensuring that we were 100% satisfied! Thank you Michael for a wonderful and pleasant experience!

This is my first review though I’ve been a client of Golden Optometry for about 4 years. The staff here is always friendly and extremely organized but today was an even more exceptional day…
After going thought the tedious routine of «1 or 2? 3 or 4?» and «Read the top line», we got to my favorite part… FRAMES! I was sat with someone new. A friendly guy with a big smile and perfect eyebrows,” Hello Ms. Erin, I’m Micheal (Mak)”. He was thorough in explaining what our insurance covered along with answering all questions on how to keep our cost down. He explained the pros and cons of the type of lenses my husband wanted without so much as a stumble or misspoken word. A real pro. So much so that he was able to get my husband out of his comfort zone and into a pair of prescription sunglasses. Both stylish and functional made for a happy husband and an even happier wife. Upon checkout, he organized and stapled all of our receipts along with cleaning and adjusting our current frames (much needed!). He wished us well and sent us on our way feeling both happy and accomplished.
Mike, you are great at what you do. You are knowledgeable, professional, witty, and helpful. You are a true GEM! I hope you stumble upon this and smile as wide as the smile you gave us.

Throughout the years, my family and I had purchased eye glasses, contact lenses, Ortho-​k lenses, and eye exams at Golden Vision. I would highly recommend this place.
Had worked with various doctors and all have been professional and great. Dr. Tsai, whom I’ve been seeing for this past year, has been extremely nice and helpful. She’s patient and detailed in answering my questions, offered great tips and suggestions for my problems, and has overall been nothing but wonderful. I would gladly come back to see her again if needed.
And I give extra applause to Tiffany, who assisted and guided me through my lasik process. She’s always available when needed, very quick at responding when I had questions, and was extremely patient and helpful during this whole process. With their referral to Dr. Berg, I was quoted a very reasonable price (with a discount) for my lasik surgery. Golden Vision has also been very helpful during my entire post-​op process.
Do note that they can get extremely busy, especially during weekends so expect to wait. The appointment system is also not very effective. In other words, don’t expect to be in-​and-​out in 15 mins even if you have an appointment. If you can not wait, pick a weekday and may be early mornings. They also have a large amount of staff so try to remember who you spoke to or who assisted you because you may not always get the same person and I suspect that’s where the run-​around comes in that some people are experiencing. There’s a reason why they are so busy (because they are good) so don’t be too «harsh» on the staff if you come in during a busy time.

«Wal-​Mart» for vision… they deal in numbers, try to up sale on products, and it took me a while just to get my eye prescription without buying anything (they at first tried to say I needed to come back a week or so later if I didn’t buy anything). Sorry, I’ll go elsewhere with my prescription. Shop at local independent optometrist where you’re not just a number.

I seriously do not understand why people bother giving them such high ratings. My mom got her prescription glasses from them and for some reason every time she cleans the lens it falls out. They told her that the screw was just loose. She doesn’t wear her glasses a lot but when she does the lens always has an issue. She then realized they put a plastic piece in the lens because the lens do not fit the frame. She brought it back in and they claimed they do not put plastic pieces the the frame. I beg to differ. They again claim that the screw was just loose. Well today the lens fell again. I took a picture of the evidence. What is the clear plastic thing that fell out with the lens? Hmmmm. The lens completely does not fit the frame so even with the plastic piece that they tried to hide the lens does not catch the edge of the frame. Therefore the lens falls out every time my mom wears her glasses. So unless you want your elderly parents to be cheated out of their money DO NOT go here!!!

How much do I love this place? All you need to know is I will recommend it to all of my bespectacled friends in a heartbeat, and have brought a couple of them to the store for an eye exam, which is a lot cheaper.
I have been coming to Golden for years and have found everything about it satisfactory. All staff members I have encountered, from receptionist to store assistants to the doctors, have all been courteous, friendly, and helpful.
Got my latest pair there on Sunday (they were able to do same-​day pickup), thought I should finally leave a review for my favorite spot to get glasses and take care of my precious, precious eyes.

I’ve been going to golden vision for over 6 years now but this time I’m not too happy and I don’t think I’ll go back again. I got a pair of glasses only a few months ago, but they broke when I put them in the box. They were under warranty so golden vision would give me a new pair BUT I have to pay $ 35 shipping. I’m confused. Why is shipping so expensive for such light, weak glasses?! If under warranty, why charge me $ 35 to fix my glasses? I think $ 35 is how much the glasses really cost.

I’ve been coming here since 2002. Didn’t know it was THAT long ago but every time I come in to get an annual eye exam, everyone here are exceptionally friendly and caring!
I was helped out by Hannah, Kay, and Erica. All were super nice. Kay reminds me of one of my aunts. Treated me like her own family and she just made my day! She’s been working with Golden Vision for a very long time and I can see she loves what she does! Very passionate and kind! I forgot my eye doctor but he was very prompt, informative, and caring as well!
Overall, I will continue to come here as long as I live! Keep up the good work Golden Vision!

I just had my eye exam there today. It’s a very busy place, but they were still able to schedule an appointment on the same day that I called. The entire staff that I interacted with were very friendly and warm.
The first optician (Don Wu) that helped me find my frames was great, but the real MVP was Michael Mak who was the second optician that helped me when I came back to change my frames. He was very patient and helped me for an hour while I tried on different frames and didn’t rush me at all. He was also very entertaining to talk to as well throughout the entire time.

Walked in on Sunday around 11, was told it would be a 2 hour wait. It was actually faster than I expected, I waited only an hour for everything up to purchasing frames. My name was called and within 30 minutes, I had my eye exam. I was sent to 4 different people throughout my whole process but I did not mind.
I also do not have insurance, so I paid 55 dollars for my exam. Everyone was friendly and prompt. They had a wide selection and it was packed.
I ordered frames but the next day changed my mind and someone was able to help me although the order was processed already. They offered me store credit or a refund check.
I can say I am pleased with their service.

This is quite literally the worse place you can spend your money or use up your insurance at! HOWEVER, I can help you save your money!
1. ALL the frames and lenses are so unnecessarily overpriced (For the frames just try them on and be discreet bout memorizing the model # and order them online if you like them in store)
2. If you ever get fitted for contacts, do not go with the Acuvue brand EVER, they are so unnecessarily overpriced! But if you do get contacts with this office specifically request to price match so you can get the best deal instead of dealing with this place’s overpriced contact lenses!
Use these tips so this place won’t screw over your wallet because they are unprofessional!
I live in the SFV but I regret ever looking this place up and wasting my precious gas to come here especially when it is so expensive nowadays. When I came to sign-​up for a contact lens exam, it went okay nothing special because I was not even greeted or acknowledged at all probably because all the girls at the front desk were gossiping with each other even when I was standing in front of them. Like really?!
STRIKE ONE
When I was basically waiting to be called on after I put down my name, I had literally have to wait about 45 minutes to even be called on to ask why I am in their precious office. So much unnecessary attitude from these people! AND guess what? I had to wait even longer…
STRIKE TWO
To be called on by this tiny lady that was very pushy into making me sit in front of this Dodgers Blue (Its seriously so freaking blue) machine that costs extra. Uh yeah… No. I just want my eye exam and contacts and to go home when I’ve already wasted so much time here already.
STRIKE THREE
I let her know that I declined on this machine and she seemed to be as pissed as I was, and just tossed me off with someone else to help me with testing, who was pretty chill and straight to the point. Apparently from the girl that helped me out told me THE PUSHY LADY IS CALLED TIFFANY, so best stay away from her! Generally the eye exam with the person that helped me out with testing and the Dr. was great just not the wait for the Dr. though. Like I’ve seriously waited long enough!
STRIKE FOUR
When I was done with my eye exam, the Dr. was trying to look for Tiffany, but she just straight up disappeared, until Miss Gossip #1 let the Dr know that she left. From the looks of the Dr she seemed so stressed out from that! (So many years of schooling and these Dr have to deal with pieces of shit like Tiffany)
STRIKE FIVE
THIS IS ALREADY LONG ENOUGH AND LATE ENOUGH AND I AIN’T EVEN CLOSE TO FINISHING, SO I’LL UPDATE LATER.

The customer service here is sooo disorganized every time I call on the weekend. When i called last Saturday, a guy answered, said he’d get someone to help me, put me on hold for 10 minutes… and then the phone hung up!

My eye exam is long overdue … So I decided to pay this place a visit again since this was my go to place a few years back.
Check in :
Smooth sailing, Suzzane was quick on assisting me and was very efficient when checking me in. I signed in and was brought to the back for my pretest in a matter of minutes.
Exam:
Dr. Tsai conducted my exam and was very professional about it. I had a lot of clarifications in terms of the different diagnoses I had and she took the time to answer ALL my questions in regards to them. She also gave me some tips/​precautionary measures I had to take to ensure that my eyesight didn’t worsen. Good lookin out doc !
Glasses consultation :
Man was the person I was assigned to when I was ready to pick out my glasses. I had a price range & brands in mind but he also introduced me to a new brand called Oliver’s people which I have never heard of. It definitely expanded my options for sure. Although Oliver’s people is a brand that is more expensive, he never tried to upsell me or convince me on purchasing them instead he respected my wishes and let me try out all the frames that I wanted no questions ask!

Had no choice but to make an appointment on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was found in less than 10 minutes… Must thank my lucky stars.
For a 2pm appointment, I didn’t get to see the optometrist until 3:30. How this is acceptable I don’t even know. I was browsing through their Unilocal reviews and couldn’t help but agree with one of the reviews: why accept appointments at all on a weekend. Why not just do walk ins. People make appointments with anticipation that they can be seen within a time frame and get out in a timely manner.
I am a fairly patient person. However, the wait was not acceptable in my book.
After what seemed like 5 years, I was able to see the optometrist. She was professional and prompt. The initial exam with contacts on was quick. Then I was asked to remove my contacts to do the second set of exams.
The whole process from seeing the optometrist and onward was efficient. Just the wait itself was horrendous.
My appointment was just to get a contact lens exam+fitting. So apparently, an optometry can charge however much they want for their fitting fee.
I paid a total of $ 80 for both the exam and fitting. I called my old place and they charged alot less because their fitting fee wasn’t outrageously priced. They even offered me a deal if I bought a year’s supply (8 boxes) of Oasis. I ended up asking for a written prescription and took my business elsewhere.
All in all, I would not come here again for contact lenses. I can see why people would come for glasses as they seem to have a large variety of brand names. Other than that, «eek! Methinks not» would be Unilocal translation for my one star.

I’ve been going to a local optometrist in Temple City since I was a kid. After dealing with Mike from Golden Vision, I think I will be coming here from now on. Mike was really patient and friendly in helping me with my glasses. He is also extremely knowledgeable and will help you pick the best frames for your facial structure. Even though I picked out frames that were a little big, Mike was willing to spend the time to help me adjust my glasses until it fit comfortably. Thank you! I will definitely be coming back!
