Poor customer service AFTER shoddy work was performed. After 3 months the door didn’t close easily. I felt like they immediately switched the blame on me by saying that I was too rough with the new door that was installed. I trusted the Unilocal reviews but then again, Unilocal isn’t always accurate. I’d like to give them the benefit of doubt by attributing my experience to just having a bad day.

This isn’t a review as much as it is an endorsement. As a former employee of SGSD I would highly recommend the staff to do your window and door replacement. This was always a great place to work and I was always treated like family by Big Jim and his family. It is really great to see Jimmy and Woody carry on the tradition of honest high quality work their father instilled in all of his staff.

We needed various window screen sizes and this place has them all at a very affordable price. They even suggested «solar» ones for the ones that face the most sunlight. Great customer service and price, I highly recommend!

What great service!
Our house got broken into and the burglars broke our sliding glass door. I had to board it up that night since all the glass door shops were already closed. So I was in a less than optimal mood to begin with.
When I called the office, Woody answered and even though they had a full schedule, he fit us in and Jim came out with a fixed door and installed it that day.
Now I always say it takes a mediocre company to do something well, it’s how they handle mistakes or abnormal circumstances that makes them stand out. So the five stars I give them comes from a non-​working lock that our «fixed» door came back with. I could lock it with the key but could not unlock it. Woody came back the next day and fixed it in less than five minutes. He apologized, took full responsibility and just resolved the situation in a very professional manner. 5 kudos!
So pleased with the speed, service and professionalism I got from Woody and Jim that I’m definitely going back when I need a screen door. I would definitely recommend them for all your window, door and glass needs.

Really liked Woody. These guys were friendly, easy to work with, on time, and down to earth. Got a sash repaired for an old wooden window in an old house. Woody did it in about 45 minutes and the price was what I was quoted over the phone. He cleaned up nicely after himself as well. You can tell this is a family owned business, and I really liked the service I got.

This review is long overdue. But better late then never! I have an old 1923 Craftsman that I ran a daycare out of last year. All of the doors and windows were in desperate need of repair. I had the foundation fixed a year before which as a result left gaps everywhere around my doors. The front door that was custom made by someone else was never finished on the bottom because my floors were uneven and the guy who made it didn’t know how to put a toekick on the bottom without it hitting the floor when the door was opened. Woody had no problem figuring it out.
He weather stripped all of my windows and doors and even reconstructed the wall where he installed a new French door that was a different size than the door that was previously in place. He replaced or repaired all of the original window and door hardware to make them secure. He also replaced most of the rope that was in my old sash windows and made them open and close smoothly. Now my windows and doors function beautifully and I no longer have air coming through when it’s a windy day!
I had been putting off making the necessary repairs because I knew that I was looking at paying a fortune to do everything. But surprisingly the price was very competitive and reasonable. It wasn’t as cheap as a handyman but judging from the work of the handymen that I’ve hired in the past. I truly believe you get what you pay for. You just can’t compare handyman work to that of people who have had it as their profession for over 30 years! It was well worth the money spent and I will definitely be a returning customer. If you truly care about the quality of work done on your home I highly recommend you give them a try for ANY of your window or door needs. Check out some of the pics from the great job he did! :)

i got an odd size door custom-​made at SGSD and the craftsmanship was great. I wanted something that would block noise from the back of my house and something sturdier than what i had before. The door exceeded my expectation. Jim did a great job installing. The price was the cheapest I could find anywhere. Would definitely use them again

Woody at SGSD is the best, totally professional with a work ethic of steel.
I’ve had all of the doors and hardware replaced in my 1958 home with beautiful single lite french doors using stainless steel hardware and the end result has been transformative. All of my doors not only look amazing, but all work flawlessly throughout the house. Woody works fast, but will always stay as long as it takes to get the project right, then cleans up as if he was never there.
Even my dog who hates everyone but me let Woody pet him.

I have bought several items for my home from San Gabriel Sash & Door and my experiences have all been good. I usually work with Tammy, and she has been great. She is not flashy or sales-​y — i.e. not fake — and I like that about her. The store is the same — no frills, no-​nonsense. I have bought several things here and never had an issue with any of them and Tammy’s advice has always been really good. Prices are always reasonable as well.
Yesterday I was especially impressed with my experience there, which is what compels me to write this review. It was 100 degrees, the A/​C in the store couldn’t quite keep up, and Tami was set to leave the store when I called in a particularly desperate situation — I needed a particular type of door stop STAT. She told me to come on over and she would help me, and that she would stay at the store to help me. She did, I got what I needed, and in the end she didn’t even charge me for it. And didn’t make a big deal out of it, either. Just good people.

No plastic windows for my house, I always come here for my replacement windows. They sell and install windows, always on time and they never take a long time for the installation.

We have a 1940’s tract home that needed a lot of TLC. Fortunately we were referred to the folks at San Gabriel Sash & Door by a neighbor. This family-​run business has been around since the 60’s and still gives old school service, which is hard to find these days.
Over the last 8 years they’ve replaced all of our windows and our front door. They only offer quality products (like Milgard, T.M. Cobb, and Therma Tru) and stand behind their work. We had one small issue with a window after it was installed and Woody happily repaired it for us, no questions asked. Woody is also an outstanding carpenter and has done several other jobs for us including replacing a few rotted window sills. His sister Tammy was a HUGE help too when we were looking for hardware for the new front door. Simply stated, a great bunch of people to work with!
In an age of big box, low-​price, zero service retailers, it’s nice to know places like SGSD exist.

I wish I had an endless piggy bank… I’d keep buying windows & doors from San Gabriel Sash & Door. Since 2008, SGSD has done 160k in repair work, window installations and retail sales for my property management business, personal residence and commercial building. We’ve done wood windows, beveled leaded glass windows, vinyl windows, interior, exterior, shower & closet doors plus minor repairs.
San Gabriel Sash & Door is a family owned & operated business, and they’ve built a good reputation in the community. Now in their second generation, the business run by three siblings, each owners of the business. Don’t worry about Woody or Jimmy needing a special tool at your house… there’s little to no chance won’t don’t have it on their truck. That’s what to expect from skilled craftsmen.
And finally, if you do decide to go with a new wood window or wood door on the exterior of your home, do yourself a favor and paint it right away. They’ll warp and bend if left unprotected. I guess that’s not common sense.

I have the hardest time with companies that not only provide inadequate and unsatisfactory service, but also with employees that act entitled to give you an attitude along with their lousy work — and unfortunately, I found all of the above at San Gabriel Sash & Door.
I went to their shop several month ago when I needed my entire front door, including frame, replaced. Only about a week after the door had been installed, it became extremely difficult to lock. When I called the door repair man, conveniently named Woody, he not only appeared upset that there was a problem but also blamed the rainy weather for it, saying the moisture from the rain must have dragged down the weight of the door. Well, since I know close to nothing about the physics of doors, I suppose it must be that — as opposed to just shoddy work of his part.
Yet after that, the door only became increasingly harder to lock, later becoming nearly impossible to lock without using an excessive amount of force. For months I avoided calling them just so I wouldn’t have to ever deal with their staff’s attitude again! But this past month when it became a battle just to fit my key into the keyhole, I sucked it up and called San Gabriel Sash & Door for a repair. Well, Woody wasn’t too happy about that and arrived the next day, attitude-​intact.
He basically lectured me that the reason my door was malfunctioning was, in short, my fault because I had failed to paint the inside half of the door and therefore (again) the moisture and heat was damaging the entire door and would continue to give me problems, forever. And where was this piece-​of-​gem advice when he was installing the door? Must have washed away with the rain. He greased the keyhole with oil but said it was only a temporary fix — with no promise of a permanent one. If you can sense the bitterness in my writing it’s because I am, very bitter, about my entire experience from beginning to end with San Gabriel Sash & Door.
