A Plus Smog Check Test Only

My husband and I took both of our cars to A Plus and was able to use the Unilocal Coupon. We received excellent service and the gentleman working there was able to drive my husbands car that had hand controls which made it easier on us. I recommend this station highly!!!

Good, quick service! My car failed the first test due to a recent air pump hose replacement to fix the check engine light and emailed Tony to see if he could waive the retest fee of $ 21. He responded quickly and graciously let me come back to retest for free. Loved the customer service!

I needed to have a Smog done at a Star station. Brought the car in. Waited for about 10 minutes, which was not bad at all. They did the test and said that my catalyst sensor was not ready (I had recently changed my battery). They took my money and asked me to come back for a retest after i drive the car for 100 – 150 miles WITH AC OFF. So i did. I drove the car 100 miles without AC and took it back the them.
On my second visit. I waited 1 HOUR! for the retest. That’s still OK. I understand that there were customers waiting before I got there. After the 1 hour wait, he plugged in my car to the computer and within 10 seconds he said that the catalyst is still not ready and I have to drive it another 100 miles.
My first 2 visits, the guy was really nice and polite. However, the instruction he had given me was completely incorrect. I went online and look for «catalyst not ready» and found a bunch of direction for driving cycle instruction to make the catalyst ready. Basically I only needed to drive the car for 15 minutes at 50−60MPH without AC!!. NOT the 100−150miles without AC as instructed. So I wasted so many hours driving 100miles without AC.
Soon enough, I went back for the 3^rd time (on a Sunday) after doing the 15 minutes 50−60mph driving. My third visit was not greeted by the same guy. This guy was rude. He had a handheld tester. So rather than plugging the car into the computer, he used the hand held and said «you have a temperature sensor code.» I asked him if the catalyst is ready and he said it was ready but now I have a temp sensor code. I told him that my check engine light was not on. He said, «well. It’s about to be on so i cannot test it for you» He asked me to take care of the temperature sensor code and bring the car back. I told him that there is nothing to take care since the check engine light is not on yet and there are no failure now and i do not understand why he can’t do the test. He insisted that the check engine light is ABOUT to be on so he cannot test. Apparently he does not do tests for cars with check engine light that is ABOUT to be on so… virtually any car on the road has a potential of a check engine light ABOUT to be on.
So, basically he asked me to fix a problem that isn’t there.
I got out of there, did a google map search for another nearest Star Station. Brought the car to this other star station, and within 10 minutes my car PASSED the Smog!!!
This station cost me $ 40 (after the Unilocal promotion) for nothing!!! I paid them to give me extra work of driving the car 100 – 150 miles without AC when it is not even needed and wanting me to «FIX» the temperature sensor that is not even faulty.
Save your money (more importantly SAVE YOUR TIME) and do not go to this station.

Really fast and easy. Coupon saved me money. Drove in and although it was busy I waited only for about ten minutes before the mechanic came over and helped me out. He even brought all the paperwork to my car while I was just listening to music, made it super easy and even asked if I had a coupon. Walked me through what I had to do after it was all done (since I didn’t really know), and I was in and out in no time!

A+ smog check it really is an A+!! They took such good care of me. I have been procrastinating on getting my car smog checked. So I really needed someone quick just two days before it expired.
I called at 5:00 PM in search for a smog check station that was open past 5 o’clock because why do smog check places end at 5 PM when everybody works? I spoke to Rafael and he told me to come right in. When I got there Rafael happily greeted me and told me the pricing. Once I sat down I didn’t even finish a music video and the car was done!
He even showed me how something was loose in my car and that I should get it taken care of.
Once he finished taking care of everything he told me how the DMV is all electronically done and that I just need to wait an hour till it registers in the system. Once it’s in the system I can go ahead and pay for it online and I’m done. No late fee for me! Yay for Rafael!

Victor was great! I called around noon and asked if he had time to take my car. He asked when I could bring it in and I said right away. After 10 minutes, he called and asked how soon I could get there because he would wait to go to lunch if I could there soon. I told him I could wait and asked when he would be back from lunch. We decided I could bring in my car after his lunch.
When I arrived he attended to my car and I was done in 15 minutes. The $ 40 coupon on Unilocal was honored and that was $ 35 less than other Star inspection stations. Good, fast, congenial service and fair price. Gonna take my other cars here from now on.

Go if you have the Unilocal deal. $ 40.00 for a smog check + $ 8.25 for the certificate. About $ 48.25 for the whole thing. I went during my lunch break at work and I was in and out of there within 15 minutes. Simple. Easy. Done!

Fast, cheap, but I wouldn’t say friendly. The operator was very efficient and good at what he does, but he was ‘all business’. No big deal, but Unilocal stars are reserved for ‘above and beyond’ service and product. Wait times are dependent on the queue ahead, but it’s usually very fast. I would come back if the location is convenient for you since the price is right.

Excellent and friendly service! Used the Unilocal coupon and I arrived right before closing and was able to have the smog check test done. The mechanic in the same service station was also excellent and friendly, my car back light was out and he replaced it quickly!

Simple, easy and no haggling about prices. Fixed prices are displayed inside. Make sure to use the Unilocal coupon, so that you can get the STAR test + certificate for $ 48. Pay cash if you can, since credit card costs another $ 1 something.
It’s first come first serve, but it only takes ~15 minutes per car and there was no queue.

Rafael is awesome. Called in the morning, first come first serve, but would only take 10 min. with my car. Pulled in to parking area and was caught off guard as I was approached by Rafael himself asking for my keys before I could figure out where I was suppose to go or what to do. He took care of EVERYTHING. Didn’t have any paperwork with me, took care of that, used up a couple of gift cards with unknown amounts, took care of that, didn’t pre-​purchase the coupon on Unilocal,took care of that. I was in and out in TEN minutes…

Called this morning asking if I would need an appointment, they said it was first come first serve. Even if somebody was ahead of me it would only take about 15 minutes. He told me that the price was about $ 38 after their online coupon, so I went ahead online and printed out the coupon.
True to their word, it took about 15 minutes with a car being worked on ahead of me. No BS, no issues. Quick and well priced.
Only complain is the very strong smell of burning incense — I do mean very strong, I had to get up off the bench and stand elsewhere.
