Attic Masters

Kudos to Ruben Lopez and his team from Attic Masters for a job well done in late Sep 2015. After contacting two other providers in the area, one of which has questionable business tactics, I decided to go with Attic Masters because of Ruben’s straight forward professionalism. He is soft spoken, but knows his stuff. We had old blow-​in paper and fiberglass insulation that was barely R-​19, so he suggested a removal and replacement. I’m glad I decided to have this done because there were remnants of roof rats from long ago. They sanitized the entire attic space after removing the old insulation and installed wire grating to make sure no other pests could ever return. They use R-​38 Johns Manville batt insulation unfaced, not the current minimum of R-​33. The team was late because their truck had a flat, but worked into the night to complete the job in one day. Ruben made sure there was minimal dust and debris in our master bedroom and throughout the hallway in our home by using two layers of plastic to protect furnishings. Thanks Ruben and team!

Got an invoice about attic cleaning, attic insulation and crawl space insulation two weeks ago over the phone. Price is reasonable and easy to communicate with email. So I deposited my money after I got an invoice. They said it would be two day job.
Two weeks later they came and finished attic work smoothly.

I recently bought a house and would like to have the attics checked out. Looked up Unilocal and found they had high ratings. Called them up and set up an appointment for inspection. Jonathan came today. He called in advance because he could arrive a bit earlier. He is very nice, and inspected our garage attic which has insulation but not enough per building code. He was very honest and told me there is no requirement for garage attic to have insulation. He also gave me some suggestions on how to get our crawl space sealed. In the end no job needs to be done. I was impressed by his honesty and integrity, as I could be influenced to do some upgrades which is not necessary. I am for sure will use their service if I ever had needs for attics.

Jonathan came by for an estimate, and the experience was extremely positive. He took a look at my attic — there’s some badly placed insulation, the rest are okay, he gave a very honest assessment, and was very patient in explaining everything. He even took a look at my furnace and praised my ductwork! In the end, his recommendation is that there is no red flags, and suggests that practically I don’t need to do much. He even told me how to even out the insulation myself. And oh he also took the time to clean up insulation scrapes that fell down from the attic! Very courteous. I would not hesitate to hire them if I decide to do any insulation work.

Very professional company! They were on time and did everything that they said they would do. I loved the way they protected my home with plastic sheets on the floor and covering all closets and shelves! Very happy with their work. :)

These men did great work and I was very pleased. The work was done in January. I later called them about two small issues that I had, once in January and once in July. Both times they came out, no problem, and took care of everything. Highly recommend!

Best experience ever! These guys are easy, non-​judgemental and super reasonable, my only complaint is that they don’t offer other services… I would use them for everything.
I’m cleaning up the family house in Santa Cruz and find 30+ years of neglect in the attic, rat droppings, and debris from a very messy re-​roofing some years back. Needless to say it was embarrassing and although I’m a hard core DIYer I had to draw the line on that.
I call a local guy recommended by my exterminator and he basically gave me a judgemental… «Its pretty bad up there» and a quote almost twice what I ended up paying with Attic Masters. After that first quote, I turned to Unilocal for advice and found the great ratings for Attic Masters. I have to say I held off a little on calling them because their location is a little vague but rest assured they do service Santa Cruz and the rest of the South Bay as far as I can tell.
When I did get around to calling they gave me a quote over the phone and almost immediately followed up with an email copy of the quote… Super nice and easy! They confirmed the day before and the PM called about 30 minutes before they arrived.
This is where it gets really great. When they get there they’re all really nice super polite guys. The PM (I think his name is Jonathan) asses the site, sticks his head in the attic and says OK lets go to work. No judgement, no extra costs just a bit of an overview of what my expectations are and they were off. They had one guy up there rolling up the old insulation before they even got fully unloaded. Like others said they sealed off their work area in the house and even chose a smaller access opening to minimize traffic in the house.
They worked fast and left me an empty clean not-​smelly attic… Just what I asked for. As a bonus they even went around the attic and filled all the entrances that rats could get into and even though I though I had closed things up pretty well they found quite a few I missed.
These guys were great, they deal with the stuff nobody really wants to and they do it with a pleasant attitude and professionalism. Kudos to them and whoever runs this operation… Great experience all around.

Just bought a rental house in SF and have been flying back and forth trying to remodel the place. My last chore was to finish insulating the attic… but seriously did not want to do it. I’m really cheap and I know how, so I wanted to do all the work myself, but just didn’t have time to come back before my new renters. I called this place because another landlord told me they were good. The quote I got was 3 times less than all of the others, and it was cheaper than what I would have been able to do it for. I am impressed gentlemen.

I called Attic Masters last month to ask for a quote and I spoke with Adam. Quote sounds good so I booked an appointment for a decontamination, insulation replacement (R38), and attic fan installation. I received a call 30 minutes before their arrival for a heads up. They started around 9am and finished around 5pm. They were clean and thorough. They covered our floors, walls, and hallways with plastic. They vacuumed the floors afterwards. We are very pleased with their work that we asked them to come again to replace our old air ducts the following week.
I will recommend Attic Masters to any homeowner who wants to have some work done in their attic ~ decontamination, re-​insulation, air duct replacement, and attic fan installation.

The Unilocal reviews led me to call Attic Masters for cleaning our attic and replacing insulation. Found the company to be very professional, quick and efficient, compared to all other places we had checked earlier. We worked with Rubin and his crew who were very thorough with their job and explaining all the processes to us before and after the work was done. The prices were very reasonable compared to other companies we had talked to before.
We had a lot of stuff in our attic left behind by the old owner, rat droppings, holes in the vents and really old insulation. The crew took care of everything and cleaned up the place well and sanitized, leaving it looking like new.

I was in need for insulation services for my home, and searched on Unilocal for local companies. I found Attic Masters, and wrote an online inquiry from their website link provided from Unilocal.Within 15 minutes, I received a phone call from a live person to ask about my insulation needs. I was able to receive an estimate online, had some communication for fine-​tuning the estimate, and scheduled an appointment.
When the attic professionals arrived (Roy, and two other team members), they were very careful about preparing the entry way to my attics (I have two). I appreciated that they were very clean in their work, and respected my home. I originally wanted to have insulation only, but also opted to have the attic cleaned, decontaminated, and varmint-​proofed prior. It seemed to make sense to have a fresh, new space before adding new R38.
The cleaning work done by Attic Masters was amazing. They found a lot of debris, unwanted material, rat droppings, and more. I have posted before and after images to better describe how meticulous their work is. Not only was I unaware of the disgusting condition in my attic, I now have a greater peace of mind knowing that above my head is a sanitary space. When the cleaning was done, I was able to take a look for myself — the attic literally looks brand new! I would highly recommend this service to anyone, and especially for homes that were built many years ago like mine.
The installation of the R38 was a great choice. I have added images as well for those interested in doing this. You can see that they carefully packed the R38 edge to edge. There are no areas where there is not coverage. Currently in December our energy bill is over $ 400. I am confident this will drop significantly now.
Overall, I am very pleased with the service, staff, and work performed. The end to end experience with Attic Masters was very professional. If you are in the market for attic cleaning, decontamination, or insulation upgrades, I highly recommend them.

I called this place and a bunch of others before finally deciding to go with this company. Prices were more reasonable for the same type of batting insulation, R 30. Got an appointment to have the attic insulated on Sunday, which was great since it was impossible to do it during the week.
They came and set everything up, putting plastic over the floors and vacuuming afterwards. Originally planned on getting my vents cleaned, but after viewing ours, the guy said it wasn’t up to code. It costs a small bundle to get all our vents redone but in the meantime, we’ll wait and get them installed at a later time since it’s not necessary at the moment.
Insulation didn’t take very long, however afterwards I could feel the house was much warmer and the heater didn’t turn on as much as it used to.
This company is reliable, reasonable and do a great job! Definitely recommend them.

We (me and the hubz) were very pleased with the service we received from AM.
We needed old insulation removed and did not want to pay an arm and a leg so I decided to get some quotes before I proceed with the task.
The quote from AM was very presentable and very detailed. The «Estimator» seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. I felt comfortable with them.
The attic cleaning took a full day and it was very thorough service I even went up to inspect once the crew were done with the cleaning.
The next day the installers returned to blow in R30 Cellulose insulation. The insulation is pretty dusty however everything was contained and this was a dustless process.
Very glad I went with them.

I have used Unilocal for years, but this is my first review and it could not be more deserving. The attic in my 1971-​built house had little or no remaining blown-​in insulation. When a new roof was installed a few months ago, the attic became so hot in the afternoons that the AC ran continuously until almost midnight.
So that is where Attic Masters came into the picture to replace the old insulation with new R-​30 battens. They also added a radiant barrier and replaced the return HVAC ducts with new insulated ones.
The Attic Masters lead, Reuben, and his team of 4 installers did a fantastic job. They worked long days in my hot attic and their workmanship was outstanding. Moreover, they were the most polite professional team ever.
They finished in three days and kept me informed of their progress along the way. I highly recommend Attic Masters for any insulation or HVAC duct work.

My attic was just horrendous before I called Attic Masters. Gave them a call and they came out the next day to give me an estimate. I agreed to their pricing and they started that day. My attic was just terrible, we had critters up there at one point and there was hardly any insulation left.
The started working on the attic, first with cleaning the attic and then with insulation replacement, removing the old and replacing with some new one. The old one was there for a long time, since we bought the house almost 20 years ago. They cleaned up the droppings of critters and sanitized down the area before putting the new insulation in.
This was the best attic cleaning I’ve seen, my attics not only looks brand new, but smells fresh and clean! These guys are really the masters in Attic cleaning.

I received expert service from AtticMasters who also gave me the lowest estimate for my furnace work. Reuben and Pedro came out to perform the work to replace the existing ducts and add a new duct. They were professional, arrived as scheduled and definitely experts at their craft. I wish I had taken before pictures as Reuben and Pedro replaced the new ducts and hung the new ducts, taking them off the ground (the replaced ducts were just laying on the floor).

Our attic was a complete disaster. There was hardly any insulation in the attic and rats have been living there for the last couple if years. The next day they came in to lay down john Mansville R30 bat insulation and threw in a free attic fan. I was really impressed with Rubens work and his competitive price.
