Lighthouse Academy — Afterschool is located at The Point Church of the Nazarene, in East San Jose — Evergreen community. Our afterschool program is designed to encourage students to do the best and be the best they can. We offer a well-​rounded program that includes: small group and individualized homework assistance, Chinese language classes ()and physical fitness and sports activities. Our program also offers hands-​on group and individual projects, such as: art, music, science, community service, and leadership. These activities and classes are included in the tuition fee. We provide daily healthy snack to each student.

In addition to our regular program offerings, we also provide opportunities for extra-​cirricula activities for additional fee. The extra cirricula may include piano lessons, chess, dancing, math master, specialized sports and many more depending on parents feedback. We also provide pick-​up service from local schools for additional fee.

History

Established in 2009.

Lighthouse Academy is originated from Busy Moms Child Service, a home based child service center started from 2008, then we expanded to The Point Church facility due to higher demand and our capacity limit. The new facility based school will allow us to serve wider community and provide better richer programs to satisfy all parents’ need.

Business Owner

Teresa (Yi) Chen is the owner of Lighthouse Academy, and she manages the day to day operation of this school. Teresa has been the owner of well known Busy Moms Child Service — a home based day care center for 3 years. Teresa holds Bachelor’s degree from China and Master’s degree from San Jose State University, and she is CPA before quit her job from Deloitte Consulting firm as a senior Tax consultant.

Before joining Deloitte, Teresa has been teaching in San Jose State University for math, her class was popular and very well welcome during that time.

Teresa has completed many required training programs for child care, and as mom of 2 sons (5 year old and 4 year old) she has accumulated a lot of firsthand experience for taking care of children with passion and patience.
