I recently moved back to a rental property where my tenants had left me a lot of «stuff». After a few days of staying in the house and cleaning up, I noticed what appeared to be bites on my arm. Many bites. Ugh!!! Bed bugs???
After several unreturned calls to Scent Tek, I gave up on them. I then called another company that will remain unidentified because they issued me a partial refund, and I do not believe they are dishonest. After the inspection by unnamed company, I was told the the dog «alerted» in several places throughout the house. I asked if we could try to actually find a bed bug, but was told that there’s no need because the dog’s scent is 200 times that of a human. Shortly after the tech left, I got a call asking if I wanted to start treatment. I declined because I wanted to get a second opinion.
Next up was a call to CimexTek. Ryan spent a whole lot of time discussing my situation and educating me about bed bugs and inspections on the phone. I eagerly scheduled an appointment. Ryan showed up with another tech named Brett and two dogs, Molly and Buster. Ryan is an ex-​military guy and it showed. The inspection was indeed executed like a military operation with Ryan and Brett walking around my entire house using flashlights to intensely and meticulously examine everything you can imagine — walls, baseboards, closets, nooks, crannies and of course my bed. Each dog was then used independently to do second and third inspections.
After the inspection was completed, Ryan informed me that neither dog indicated the presence of bed bugs and neither he nor Brett saw any evidence whatsoever that my house was infested with them. I asked him what his degree of confidence was, and he replied: I’d bet my company on it. Woo hoo!!! He even gave me a discount because I had already paid the other company. He also mentioned it can be quite challenging doing a second inspection once a person receives a positive from another company — hence, I suspect, two techs and two dogs. By the way, all they do is inspections. They do not treat for bed bugs, nor are they affiliated with any company that does. And, if a dog alerts, standard procedure is to try to find a bug bug in that area.
It’s been nearly two months since Ryan performed the inspection and I have not had any more bites. Perhaps it was a rash, dunno, but needless to say I’m elated. Thanks CimexTek team — y’all rock, and that includes the hard working doggies!!!

Thank you Brett and your cute dog (forgot its name)!!! Like most of the reviews here, I was concerned about bed bugs biting me and had Brett come over today. Long story short, I got the paw stamp of approval of no bed bugs! Brett also gave me a lot of good advice on what might be causing the bites (likely rat mites, yuck) and gave me his business card so I can follow up and ask any additional questions if I identify anything with a glue trap. I really appreciate his good service and would recommend CimexTek to anyone who has extremely sensitive skin and anxiety over bed bugs. Chances are you might not have them. but it’s worth it to get a professional opinion and peace of mind! You probably don’t have bed bugs, but there’s mites /​fleas /​pests everywhere… everywhere… :(

So I am not a big fan of doling out 5 stars. But Ryan really saved me from a lot of worry. He showed up (adjusted his schedule so he could fit me in because I was a wreck) and my stress level went from DEFCON 1 to DEFCON 4.5. i just have too many good things to say about my experience.
First of all, Ryan is very knowledgeable of Bed Bugs and his cute dog is highly trained with a «search and recon» that appears to be military grade top notch in terms of process and methodology.
The best news was that the found no bed bugs in their assessment, but Ryan went further and assured me that there is absolutely ZERO CHANCE that we have any bed bugs (whew!). He did a comprehensive briefing on what other suspects are causing the matter in my home (hypothesis #1 is Rat Mites, and backup hypothesis #2 is bird mites). He actually found one and was certain that this is what was creating the problem.
Ryan also suggested 4 exterminator companies and gave me some really good tips on how to work with them on getting the best quotes and get absolutely pest identification done scientifically.
I’m an engineer, and I crave to be talked to in such a way that things are logically sound — throw some scientific method type approaches, and I’m all ears and trusting.
Ryan even told me that he would be ok if I followed up and bounced of any questions related to the upcoming extermination plan. What a pro!
So bottom line. If you think you have bed bugs — I would endorse calling Ryan. He changed me $ 175, and was here for over an hour this morning, including the briefing.
best $ 175 i ever spent on someone telling me that I don’t have bed bugs.
Great work, Ryan. Good luck Unilocaler. I hope you don’t have bugs. Seriously. I’m praying for you. All the research I did leads me to believe that it’s a painful process.

Not sure what’s doing the biting but it is not bedbugs (thank God!). And I am very confident about this after Ryan thoroughly checked my house with Max (enjoy a well earned retirement little guy) and Molly. Which is good because Google bedbugs and after a couple minutes you basically want to boil yourself in oil and burn the house down.
To assure me the dogs knew what they were doing, Ryan randomly planted a ziplock bag with a bedbug in it on top of my living room bookcase and Molly, sniffing by at a good 4 feet below, knew it was there. Very reassuring. Ryan was encouraging regarding follow up, too; if I found any bugs I am to email him a picture to help identify it, but at least we know bedbugs won’t turn up.
Ryan and crew are only into the detection side of things, not pest control; as other reviewers have pointed out, they are knowledgeable about next steps and referrals if (and I sincerely hope not) the dogs find bedbugs.

I just talked to Ryan and he let me know that I can probably skip the inspection part and go straight to the extermination step… walked me through the options even though it is not part of his service… what a wonderful professional! It’s a huge relief to have someone trustworthy to consult with when dealing with this sort of thing.

Woke up with tons of bites, felt like bedbug bits (had them years ago… ugh), found some bugs, lots of google searching later and… yup…looked like bedbugs. Our apartment manager called a different pest control service that did a very cursory check and did not inspire the most amount of confidence (e.g., tech guy: «I’ve heard bedbugs go for different blood types?; «I don’t know what that bug is… maybe a mite?»)
So we called Ryan, he and Max (dog) came over. Ryan answered all our questions; identified the bugs that we had found (and trapped), and even brought some actual live bedbugs (in a sealed bag) so we could see what they looked like, and see how Max responded.
Max did his job (good dog), and no bedbugs. Even if Max & Ryan HAD found bugs we’d give this five star review. Fantastic service. Super nice in person, and over the phone.

Still great! Called today because I’m still getting bitten so still had doubts. He did everything he could to explain it all yet again and once again reassured me that it is not bedbugs. Thank you again!

Great service. I called and they got me on the books for the same day. They were exactly on time. They arrived in an unassuming vehicle and uniform that did not shout «hey we’re looking for bed bugs!» which is nice, I didn’t want my neighbors to panic. I was asked for some background, why I thought I had bed bugs, etc. He took the time to listen and then did the search and it turns out I had NO BED BUGS! Thank you, Lord! The guy was super nice, gave me some suggestions on what to do next and recommend some exterminators to find out exactly what was going on.

Something has been biting me off and on for a while now. Nothing too bad– but enough to make me alarmed. Fearful of bedbugs, we contacted Cimextek.
Ryan and Molly came to check our house and did a very thorough job. Negative check for bedbugs made me happy — but I was still receiving the random bite which was distressing me. (I am someone who has a lot of bug related anxiety!!) I called up Ryan and he gave me great advice on how to catch whatever was biting me. Then he came by again with his partner, Brett, who was equally great, with dogs to check the house for me. House once again tested negative for bedbugs, and thanks to the trap they suggested I plant– we were able to find a mite that was likely the culprit to my bites.
If you are like me and have big time bedbug fear (borderline phobia!!) these guys are worth their weight in gold. Punctual, efficient, and full of knowledge– I’d recommend them to anyone going through a similar situation.

Being paranoid after finding a bed bug is just something that happens after hearing the horror stories right? Well being as paranoid as I was, I had a few questions for Bret regarding the removal of my box spring. So I called him hoping to regain some peace of mind. He was very reassuring in that there was nothing to worry about and even told me to call him back if I had any other questions or worries. Now that’s what I call good customer service (even after the fact)!

Still five stars! It did turn out to be rat mites, which is what Bret thought it was. This is after two other major pest control companies told me it was definitely not rat mites. Two years later and I still am so thankful that I had him come and help solve my mystery bug infestation.

Brett and his buddy, Buster, came today and cleared my house for bedbugs. Not sure what was biting me but its a relief to know its not bed bugs. Brett was very knowledgeable about not only bedbugs but other insects that could be the culprit, including mites or carpet beetle larvae hairs. I hadn’t been sleeping and was all stressed out – this scare actually ruined Christmas – wasn’t going to drag out boxes of buggy ornaments and spread them all over the house if there were bugs. I had them check both bedrooms and the common areas and it was the best $ 200 I ever spent. The peace of mind is priceless. Highly recommend this company and their hard working pups!

Everything went great. I contacted Ryan and messaged him with a picture of what I thought I had found, and he was able to verify that it was a bed bug. He had a lot of advice for me on how to handle it on the phone even before he came out, and when he actually did come, he and his dogs went over my entire unit and located trouble spots. He additionally had recommendations on services to get rid of the bed bugsl and how to manage the situation until then. Ryan was very friendly and helpful through the entire process, and I can’t imagine it being any easier.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! When I first spoke with Ryan I was impressed with his knowledge and inquiry of my potential bug problem. When he and «Max» and «Molly» came to my condo, I was instantly put at ease. Ryan’s thorough inspection of my bed room and living areas was «negative»…and when the dogs took their turn, I was blown away! Impressive, thorough and confident is the best way I can describe there’s amazing dogs. They too found no bed bugs… Ryan and his canine «staff» were professional and respectful of my belongings. I would highly recommend CimexTek.

Okay, you need to believe all of the 5 star reviews for Cimextek! Just had Ryan and Max over the other day to figure out what was causing my bug bites. Ryan is a super nice guy who really goes in depth of what he’s looking for when it comes to bed bugs or if it’s another type of pest. And when he brought Max in, omg. Towards the end of their visit, after I had talked to Ryan for a while, I saw Max just lying down on my couch waiting for us to come back out. He’s such a cute and well-​behaved dog! Back to the inspection, they went through every corner and wall of my apartment and I just had a really fun tim see them go to work. I definitely recommend Cimextek for any type of bed bug/​bug problem you have because bed bug or not, they will help you get to the solution that best fits your situation. I can’t imagine being any better than them!

I’ve been holding off on writing my reviews for CimexTek and Scent Tek for a while, partly because of the stress memories of that time evokes, and partly because I wanted to several months to be absolutely certain the all clear I got from them was actually, in fact, an all clear.
After a few friendly and informative calls with Ryan, he shows up one morning with Max, who he has wait in one of the bathrooms as he does his manual inspection of the place, and plants some (enclosed) bug vials to test Max’s detection skills with. After a fairly detailed manual inspection of my bed, he brings Max out and demonstrates how Max reacts to bedbugs, both when he’s certain, and when he’s unsure, and then proceeds to do his inspection of the bedrooms and common areas. Afterwards, he even does an inspection of my car in the garage downstairs, free of charge, to assuage some of my other concerns.
So, all in all, compared to Scent Tek, Ryan and Max did a more detailed inspection, were friendlier, and a tad more affordable as well! I had also asked Ryan if he could possibly let me purposely get bitten by one of his bugs so I could tell in the future if I ever do actually get bit. This, he was willing to do, but had wanted to hatch some new bugs who’d never fed before (even though they’ve been shown to not pass disease, better safe than sorry I suppose), which would take several weeks. I never did remember to follow up on that offer, but I’m still appreciative of the fact that it was there.

We came back from a trip with bedbug bites and wanted to make sure we were free of them at home. The thing that makes Ryan and CimexTek special is not only the quality of work, communication and commitment but also Ryan’s single-​minded mission of ridding the world of bedbugs! It’s like having your own bounty hunter working for you on your side to hunt down your worst enemy. These guys take the bedbug problem really seriously and that makes a big difference when you’re terrified of the fact that you have bedbugs.
Excellent customer service is the name of the game in this era and CimexTek delivers. By the way, no bedbugs!

I’ll preface by stating that I didn’t pay for their service. Instead, I spoke with Ryan and gave him a rundown of what I found, a suspicious looking bug caught on a piece of tape. He told me that he was in the area and would be willing to pick up the sample then have it analyzed for me — all FREE of charge. Turns out, it wasn’t a bed bug *insert huge sigh of relief here* to which he single-​handedly put my fears to rest.
Not only did he go out of his way to help me, but he provided me a good amount of information regarding bed bugs and how to avoid them for future reference. Going above and beyond, I’d say the wealth of positive reviews for CimexTek are definitely justified.
