I was introduced to Tina by one of my best friends and I immediately felt in love with her. I stalked her IG for a while and I decided she will be my hairstylist. I texted her for advice and appointment and she responded quickly which was a plus. I was very scared prior to my appointment because I have virgin hair and have not colored it once in my life. Tina wanted to make sure I felt comfortable and she explained everything she was doing in detailed. She made me feel very welcomed and warm.
Initially I wanted my hair to be bright purple but Tina said that because I had black virgin hair, I may not get the color I wanted in 1 session. Instead, I may have a violet/​pink hair. I went with her and the end result was amazing. I didn’t expect my hair to be this beautiful and soft. She added B3 Olaplex into the bleach formula to avoid hair damage and I loved it.
At the end of the session, Tina recommended me some good hair products and I bought them all. She is very understanding and supportive despite having a very busy schedule. I highly recommend Tina to everyone. She is very talented, very friendly and she indeed has miracle hands.

I first met Tina years ago when we worked in recruiting, then when I found out she changed careers and opened her own salon I had to stop by!
My hair has been every color, literally. From red, blonde, black, magenta to turquoise the list goes on, so I am a littttttle picky when it comes to my hair stylist.
First off, Tina listens carefully and provides updates on every step. Unlike many places I’ve been to, they think they can read your mind and just do whatever, resulting in crap experience. Okay, not every place, but you know what I mean.
She knows how to balayage extremely well and get my toner perfect for the blonde I like. BIG PLUS. Since I can’t make it to my previous hairdresser anymore in SF, who originally did my balayage, this is huge for me. Prices are reasonable too.
Long story short, I live in San Mateo and work in SF and will make the trip to come see her in San Jose from now on no matter what! :D

Tina’s awesome! Super friendly and super patient! I have pretty thick dark hair and she has been amazing with dealing with my kind of hair and getting super close to the color I wanted! I have one of those hair types that need several sessions in order to get to the exact color so though I don’t mind waiting, I always end up getting too busy and putting it off for the next session! but even after a few months, my hair health is still in pretty awesome shape thanks to her recommendation for the olaplex! Can’t wait for my next session :) toodles

I am so glad I found Tina! Her salon being close to my house is a plus too :) Tina informed me about balayage and that I need to maintain it. The inspired picture I sent her, the color was really blonde, so I told her that I was not up for it and we decided to go for a not too blonde and not too dark. The end result was so perfect that I couldn’t stop staring at my hair. I was so happy that I show my hair off right way to my friends and family and they loved it too.
I can’t wait to come back and get my hair tone. Maybe I should go lighter next time :) The Olaplex made my hair smooth even though it was bleach.

Tina is a miracle worker! I contacted Tina back in Nov 2015 after looking through her Instagram. My hair was long, dry, and terribly balayaged (refer to before picture) I wanted to cut at least half of it off and go platinum grey.
I was so nervous to cut/​dye my hair, but Tina answered all my hair questions thoroughly and is super easy to talk to! She gave great tips on managing my hair (i.e. keeping it healthy and hydrated) and details on how the actual hair coloring process works. Tina and the other hair stylists at Duet Salon always made me feel welcome. I usually hate sitting at the salon and waiting for my hair to process, but this place offers a bunch of magazines and tea/​coffee while you wait.
I had 3 sessions in total from November to March 2016, with about 2 months of waiting in between hair coloring. It took a while to get to the platinum grey I wanted (picture 3/​after), but it was so worth it! I even loved the stages of blonde I had before (pictures 1 and 2).
My hair is much healthier now and I love the color so much. I’m definitely only going to Duet Salon for all my hair needs from now on (: Thanks so much Tina!

Tina is a very talented hair stylist. I found her on Instagram and decided to schedule an appointment with her to get my hair done. She responded to my emails in a timely matter and was able to answer all the questions I had.
When I arrived for my appointment, I showed her a picture of what I wanted again and she gave me different options that she could do with the picture I had showed her. I like how she doesn’t just go off the picture and asks you questions so that she can find the right style for you. She was very transparent and explained everything she was doing to make sure I wouldn’t be surprised by the results since I was going from a light brown ombré to a dark, mocha ombré. I was very satisfied with the service and how my hair turned out. I trust her with my hair and will definitely go back to her again! She’s wonderful!

Tina rocks! Never had my hair dyed before, and Tina made the whole process so easy and smooth for me. All you gotta do is text her and send her a picture of your hair and your inspiration. I had no idea what I liked, but she was able to clarify that with all the pictures I sent her.
Her responsiveness is amazing. It’s like having one of your good friends do your hair because she cares so much. Before coming in she answered all my questions about taking care of my hair. During the appointment, Tina was super sweet. She wanted to make sure I wasn’t allergic to any of the common ingredients in the developer or color! I even got some green tea as I waited for my hair to lighten from the bleach. The color turned out amazing, and I think the deep ash blond balayage I got suits me more than I thought it would. I’m excited to come back for my second session and try toning it darker, as well!
You can clearly see that the rest of the salon is well-​maintained and super chic. I love the big mirrors and the overall environment the salon gives. The other clients coming in seem to have developed a relationship with their respective haircutters. Definitely coming back for Tina’s amazing service =] You guys should give her a try!

I have been keeping my hair ‘virginity’ for the past 26 years. As much as I have been longing for something other than my boring brown hair color I have kept all my life, I have never found a hairstylist whom I trusted enough to do go through the procedure on my thin fragile hair.
I was recommended by a family friend to the duet hair salon, but it was my initial haircut appointment with Tina that made me decide that I could trust her with my hair. She answered my endless questions about the procedure and how it would affect my hair texture. She understood why I was so concerned about the coloring process and was very patient with me which was very reassuring. (Plus the haircut turned out awesome!)
Even after booking the session my questions did not cease. She constantly answered all my questions via text and even sent me a reminder the day before the appointment. I was very nervous once I got to the appointment but the nervousness quickly melted away once I was seated in the chair. She went through the steps of the process once again before she got started, letting me know what to expect as the outcome. I really appreciated how informative she was. During the procedure, she was very friendly and engaging in her conversation. Three hours passed very quickly in the midst of it. She made sure I was comfortable constantly, offering beverages and making constant small adjustments to make sure I was comfortable.
At the end of it all, my hair turned out awesome! My hair texture had minimal damage (barely noticeable) and I was expecting the worst since my hair was so thin to begin with! This was just the first session of the two and I can’t wait to come back after a few weeks for another session with Tina! Thank you Tina for making my boring virgin hair into a beautifully balayaged awesomeness!

Tina is so talented! I was referred to her by a friend and after stalking her Instagram (@hairbytinapark) and Unilocal page, I was convinced. I went in with a super grown out all over color that I wanted to fix into a more natural balayage.
She took into consideration everything that I wanted (keeping my black roots, a natural brown balayage) and I gave her full reign. She explained everything she was doing and why which made me feel really comfortable instead of wondering what was going on.
When the color came out, it was initially too light and she could tell that I was uncomfortable and toned it to a darker shade. It came out perfect the second time and I really love my hair. Before, I’d never left a salon completely in love with my hair, but after Tina, I can’t imagine going to anyone else for color. There is incredible dimension in my hair and I can’t stop staring at it. Definitely coming back for all my coloring needs.

Tina is truly a talented, kind, honest and very knowledgable hair stylist. I found her through Unilocal and ig (hairbytinapark) and was blown away by the pictures of her work. I decided to make an appointment with her via text, and she responded promptly with any questions I asked as well as her next available appointment.
I just got my hair done by her yesterday, and she did a beautiful subtle balayage on my dark hair. I haven’t had my hair colored in a while, and with previous bad hair experiences at other salons. I was just a little nervous due to the condition of my hair. She was very reassuring, answered any questions I asked thoroughly and even gave me some knowledge on how to take care of my hair! She REALLY knows hair like no other and trust me when I say that she gave my hair life again! She made me feel so comfortable throughout my hair session and I’m so glad I had found her!

This is my first time having my hair professionally done, and I’m so glad that it’s with Tina here at Duet Salon.
I found Tina through Instagram (@hairbytinapark) and was really enticed by her work. She is really quick with emails/​texts and informative in providing a few times and dates that fit your schedule, so an appointment was set in no time!
Over the course of time till your appointment, if you have any questions, she is more than willing to help. The day before the appointment, she even sent out a text reminder about the appointment! It definitely adds to her professionalism and I’m really thankful that my appointment was still in tact and not mysteriously forgotten.
Try to be on time! Because unfortunately, I wasn’t on time, and although she is more than accommodating, I’m sure I pushed back her appointments. It is courtesy both to her and to her subsequent appointments. But still, although Tina’s next appointment came, she was really courteous to her client, and did not rush the finishing touches of my hair. She really takes her time in providing the best treatment possible to all her clients.
The décor of her salon is modern and comfortable all at the same time. Upon arrival and sitting in the chair, water and hot tea were offered. And not just at the beginning – but throughout your whole stay at the salon!
Once seated, Tina confirms the previous conversations by pointing out what you had sent, so have confidence that she is really thinking of you and your hair! She explains the process and what to expect so that you’ll have an idea of what’s going on. If you’re going for a shade that might take a few sessions, she informs you of that, as well as how your hair would possibly change over the course of sessions to make sure that you’re comfortable with the intermittent changes before proceeding. She also provides the option of using Olaplex to lessen the damage done to the hair, which is awesome. Here’s to customer service at its best!
Also, since I’m a total beginner to the hair colouring scene, Tina is more than helpful at pointing out things that I would have to look out for in regards to my hair such as changing to a sulfate-​free shampoo, coming back around 6 – 8 weeks for a toner, etc.
She’s not out to get your money either. I had a few layers in my hair and Tina said that I didn’t need a haircut at this point but it’s up to me. I appreciate the honesty!
Tina pays attention to all the little details and really thinks about her clients. Take washing the hair for example –there’s a mini towel over your eyes to keep away from potential spraying bleach water, and she even rests our neck on another towel while our hair is processing in the sink. Definitely touched by her thoughtfulness!
Throughout the whole process, Tina was really nice and it was so easy to talk to her… or not talk, if you want to keep to the silence. Whether there was conversation or not, it was comfortable! And while the hair is processing and she is tending to other clients, she still continuously checks up on you so you know that you’re not left alone. And really, observing her with her clients –you can tell she really loves what she does and that she genuinely cares about her client and her client’s hair!
I can’t wait to be back for my second session, my haircuts, and my toners –everything related to hair, I’m forever leaving it to Tina, and you should too :)

I heard about her through mutual friends and decided to give her a try and booked an apt. With her!
As I walked in for the first time, her salon is very clean, home-​y, and modern-​looking. Décor was definitely simple but nice !
I got everything done: haircut, root touchup/​dye, hair coloring, blonde highlights, and whatever else. The outcome was amazing! My hair was so pretty and it came out exactly the way I pictured it, but better :) I got blonde highlights, light brown root touchup, purple peek aboo highlights, and in general an ash blonde/​brown look. So pretty !!
Not only does she have thoroughness, amazing skills, she also has the best intentions/​interests for you. With that being said, she isn’t there to scam your money and would say «yes I can do that within 1 session and your hair will look exactly like that «. So if you come into the salon having a picture of the hair style and color you want, she will tell you exactly what to expect and if it’s possible to achieve that look within 1 session or in general depending on your hair type and conditions. She also cares a lot for her clients, so she will do whatever it takes to make your hair flawless. Don’t be afraid to tell her your concerns (before and after getting your hair done) and hair achievements .
I definitely recommend her and coming back !

I’ve known Tina since middle school, and I’ve been to different hairstylist before I made Tina my designated personal hair stylist. This isn’t a bias post as I am pretty straight forward.
I LOVE Tina’s work, not just her work, but Tina as a person as a business lady. She is honest with what she does and the products that she use are the best. I love that Tina is extremely knowledgeable with what she does, and she’s extremely passionate about it. Her happiness drives from clients like myself’s satisfaction and I can see it thru our conversations. Unlike others, she takes time and tries her very best to lift the colors the way we want with our stubborn hair without damaging it. She’ll tell you right off the bat how many sessions it will require in order to accomplish the color we need.

I think getting your hair done at a salon is an all encompassing experience. There are some salons that knows their stuff, but leave you feeling uncomfortable from their posh environment. Tina is the exact opposite.
She has a very warm and inviting personality that makes you feel like you can really trust her with your hair. AND YOU CAN. I’ve been searching for so so long in the Bay Area for a hair stylist who knows how to do a great balayage but who also knows how to handle thick, coarse, stubborn Asian hair.
I came in with an outgrown balayage/​harsh blonde highlights that just wasn’t doing it for me. Tina gave me a partial balayage and extended it higher so it would not look grown out and then toned my hair a beautiful ashy brown. Just how I wanted it! I mean lets just take a moment to appreciate these before and after photos. Thank you Tina for your patience and skill and making my hair feel beautiful again! I swear Tina has magic hands; twice now I have brought her an overgrown mess, asked for a miracle and that is what I received!
She always makes sure not only to understand what a client is looking for, but to also understand the texture, quantity, and history of the hair she is treating and how to safely achieve what is desired. While it may appear that she specializes in dark to light transformations and balayage/​hair painting techniques, the girl is beyond talented (and educated) in all things hair.
I came in asking for all over low lights, a section of «fashion color», and a V cut. This was same thing I had asked another stylist to do about 6 months ago who was not prepared for the amount of hair I have and whose assistant failed to pass on adequate information from my color consultation; but I digress. I had been thinking nonstop about this specific look after not getting what I anticipated over summer and knew that Tina would be able to achieve what I wanted. And BOY was I RIGHT! I got exactly what I imagined, wanted, and dreamed of since my botched appointment. She asked me plenty of questions before and during the appointment, kept me informed during all phases of the appointment, and (most importantly) made sure I was comfortable with everything she was doing along the way.

I’ve been a «color box» gal for most of my life but this time I wanted to go bright and bold. The look I wanted was a side undercut with the lightest color I could obtain in my first sitting.
My hair was half colored/​damaged and the other half was my natural root. My hair is stubborn, coarse, and black.
Summer 2015
Before the appointment:
I really appreciated the prompt responses to all my questions before I made an appointment and before I came in. She’s really thorough and frank about my hair and her professional opinion on the process and results. I could sense she is serious about her business and mine. She understands that getting a response with answers that help is so important to building trust between hairstylist and potential customer.
At the Appointment:
I got my hair chopped and shaved by Janne Park who did a great job, plus she’s got such a friendly personality and if you speak Korean, she’s great at keeping the conversation fun!
I want to say my appointment took about 3 – 3.5 hours and I LOVED how it turned out. It’s one thing if I loved it but I have gotten non stop compliments on the cut and color. I lost count of how many times people have asked for their contact info and it’s so hard to find a hairstylist to trust but her work speaks for itself!
I just went back this past weekend to change my side undercut to a back undercut and Janne did a great job again. This team is awesome!
Who am I going to go back in January for my color? Tina for sure. Can’t take this hair to anybody else!

Tina is the owner of this salon and she is awesome! You definitely don’t have undershoot what you want here (i.e. saying you want two inches off the end in fear of getting more chopped off than you wanted). She listens to everything you say and follows it to a T. She also isn’t afraid to speak up and offer her advice when she knows something isn’t going to work or that something else will work better.
I wanted a deep grey ombré. Before actually coming in for the color and cut Tina and I texted about what I wanted. I sent her pictures of my current hair and «inspiration» pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like. She told me it would take at least two sessions to lighten my hair to the point it needed to be to receive the color without damaging it too much, which i’m very thankful for! I had a similar style done at another salon and the hairstylist there just went for it and did it in one go to make it easier. Tina really gives you suggestions and input that will be helpful to you and the healthiness of your hair.
We then proceeded with the sessions. Tina talks to you throughout the whole process so you know exactly what she’s doing with your hair which is super helpful, especially if you’re a worrywart! She also takes a pause in between processes to double check if what she has done is what you wanted and if it isn’t she goes from there to make it what you envision. I wanted a grey ombré but Tina suggested a dark blue color since it would fade nicely into the deep grey I wanted in the end. We went with the dark blue and I love it! I got to experience a different shade of blue after every wash and my hair ended up being a light grey after all the color had washed out. (Thank you for making my hair awesome Tina!)
Tina’s salon is also super adorable! There’s really nice interior design and it’s very spacious. They have hot water and tea, magazines, music. Their bathroom is also super spacious and equipped with anything you would ever need. Definitely come here for all things hair!

Tina is the best! I contacted her a few days ago and told her that I wanted to try a lighter hair color. Since she has never worked with my hair before, she asked for pictures of my current hair as well as what I wanted my hair to look like. She is very easy to get a hold of via text and we went back and forth for a while as she explained the process my hair would go through and how much it would cost, etc. I’m not very familiar with hair terminology (having only dyed my hair once) but Tina was very patient and thoroughly answered all of my questions.
I finally got to meet her in person today! She’s very laid back and super easy to talk to! Even though I was there for ~4 hours, time passed by pretty quickly. She gave me plenty of hair care tips while she was working on my hair and always made sure I had a magazine to read, tea to drink, etc. Most importantly, I LOVED how my hair turned out! There was so much dimension to the color and it looked even better after she curled it. She made sure that I was okay with the color before she started styling it just in case I wanted her to make any adjustments.
Love love LOVE my new hair color. It’s exactly what I wanted. I’ll be back in 2 months to touch up! Thank you, Tina!

Got my hair balayaged at Duet and I absolutely love it! I had a fantastic experience here. I found this salon recently through Unilocal,and immediately reached out to Tina via email with a bunch of questions that she was happy to answer.
On the day of my appointment, Tina was incredibly patient and helpful with my questions and concerns. She took a few minutes at the beginning to understand my hair type (texture, color, treatment history, skin reactions, etc) and my desired hair color, which I really appreciated. I’ve had my hair colored at other salons in the past, and have nearly always been disappointed since previous hair stylists often applied hair colors that didn’t match my requests (and didn’t take time to explain the outcomes of each shade). Tina kindly explained how darker toned hair needs a bleach treatment first in order to lighten the base for caramel colors to show up properly. She also spent time explaining each step of the process, and giving me a fair expectation of how long each step would take.
All in all, Tina is the best colorist I have been to in the Bay Area! I had a fantastic experience for my first-​ever balayage treatment, and I highly recommend her!

To start off, this is a overdue review, but definitely worth reviewing. My friend had recommended me to Tina, and she definitely looked like she knew what she was doing. So, I text her and made an appointment. I tried to explain to her what I wanted. I showed her pictures but I wasn’t very specific because I’ve been wanting to try something new with my hair. I’ve been having brown to dark blonde colors my whole life so I wanted something a little out of my comfort zone. After her professional advice, I opted for a caramel balayage pink toned hair color with a lighter base. I also had my hair trimmed. My appointment took about 3 – 4 hours with all the dying, washing, drying, then toning, washing again, drying, and styling but it was well worth it because Tina was so careful throughout every step making sure I was okay and she wasn’t pulling too hard.
I finally saw the finished work. It was beautiful! I loved it. I got so many compliments. So the outcome was exactly what I wanted! She explained to me that my pink would fade out in around 5 weeks which was totally fine with me. It would fade into a rose gold color. Which I am even more excited about. I am loving my new hair more and more everyday!
So, overall the service was great, price was reasonable, and quality was beautiful.
I am definitely ready to book another appointment with Tina!
