Let’s see, the food is OK for a Chinese restaurant, which is to say that it’s not Caucasian Chinese but also not what you would expect in China. The guy taking orders had a great no-nonsense attitude to service, and the lack of smiles is a big plus. He also just said«I know» when I added that I wanted take-away, which is great. So there could be a 4 star rating right there. Unfortunately, what drives the grade down a bit is that it’s pretty slow(I waited for half an hour) and that the food is so-so. 鱼香肉丝(shredded pork in a spicy sauce) really shouldn’t have onions in it, and 家常豆腐(homestyle tofu) never has broccoli in China.

Great yummy food at pretty good prices :) I try to eat something new every time, and nothing has disappointed us yet! My family usually gets the deal where you can choose 3 dishes for $ 19.95 from a list. It’s a pretty good deal and the portions are big enough so you can take some home later. The food has never been too salty or to greasy in my opinion; it’s just right. If I can recommend anything, it’s the chicken salad. Very refreshing and with good flavor. The woman who owns the restaurant is very nice and polite. However, it is a mom and pop place, I believe, so there isn’t a lot of staff and service is a little slow when there’s a lot of people. You can order take out too, if you want. Yup, you should try this place out.

the food is good the services is very bad, I have been a client for over 20 years and their services is getting very bad, the old guy who run it got upset because we didn’t want to order rice, when we ask, to get our left overs he came and drop the boxes and a bag very rude, we paid in cash, the bill was $ 36.95 we give him $ 40 he never got back the change, when we ask for the change he got mad and he said that the change was the tip, he brought the change and my friend has what happen with the fortune cookies? he got mad and said if we want the cookies we can take them and there are by the cashier machine, he when and brought the cookies and drop them on the table. Again food is good services is very bad, for me is time to move on.

Dining here is my weekly ritual! The petite lady who runs it, is patient, cultured and remembers customer’s needs. So is the very nice owner & they make you feel right at home! For $ 19.95 three big portions of entrees out of 92 choices to pick from! Better than fast foods and no MSG! Salt&pepper spare ribs, sweet &sour pork, chow fun and many veggi dishes! Take-outs and very easy on your wallet for set lunch. On my next visit, perhaps will see you there!

Just walked in to order some broccoli beef, chow mien, fried rice and war won ton soup. I paid for it and the server promised me that it would be ready in 15 minutes so I told him I would be back after returning some videos. I came back in exactly 15 minutes, food was still not ready after 10 minutes later and the place wasn’t even half full. Meanwhile my family waits hungrily. I got my money back but not my time. Not fun.

I’m chinese american and I grew up eating chinese food. I can be picky with chinese restaurants catering to non-chinese. This place wasn’t too bad though. Obviously beats panda express… lunch specials are pretty cheap like under $ 10, but my coworkers and I always order away from the lunch menu and eat family style. I LOVE their eggplant in garlic sauce! A bit greasy, but it’s spicy, which I love. mapo tofu was also a bit spicy. shrimp chowmein isn’t too greasy too and both Cantonese and Mandarin spoken here. I prefer this place over the one in campbell. if you want authentic chinese food that caters to chinese people, i don’t recommend this place. I’m not sure where to get really good chinese food anymore since my family’s usual place, new east lake, went completely down hill after they renovated the place.

Mom wanted Peking duck & I remembered New Peking made a soup dish out of the excess duck not served as «peking duck’. Average dish of Peking duck, nothing to shout about and the soup was also A-OK with tofu in it. Just another chinese restaurant. They have the ‘family menu’ with 3 dishes at a very decent price, similar to those you find in Chinatown in San Francisco. A few friends & I ordered 2 sets of those 4 years ago and all dishes were decent

Cheap chinese eats but don’t expect good food nor great service. Some of the dishes are hit or miss and I’ve had more I was«meh» about than ones I’ve liked. I try to drown everything in hot sauce which speaks on how the dishes tastes. The salt and pepper spare ribs are decent and is probably my favorite here. The soups that come with the meal are bland and service can be forgetful and/or really slow. The 3 dishes for $ 19.95 are worth a mention as that is a pretty darn fantastic deal and the main reason why the manfriend and I have returned here. It is a pretty good portion and there is a long extensive menu with a variety of different things from meats to fish to soups to clay pots. But like I said before, it is not that good. If you are looking to eat to just have food in your stomach, come here. If you are looking for quality Chinese, go elsewhere.

This recently made it onto our list of regular places to get dinner when«mom» doesn’t want to cook. Our favorites are ee-mein with chives(vegetarian dish for $ 9.95) and shrimp fried rice(I think $ 7.95?). When I remember to call it in I’ll also get chicken and mushroom rice in claypot(takes 40 min so phone ahead). Delicious and Great value at $ 7.50. The other dishes are good sized. Usually we have enough left over to take something home for late nite snacking! They also have a 9pm-11pm special menu $ 5.50 per item including a drink(HK milk tea or lemon tea etc…) One of the owners had worked in Hong Kong Bistro(mtn view) 6 yrs prior before taking up a stake at this place. Don’t expect Northern Chinese food here. It’s more like a cross between Hong Kong western café food and Cantonese food. They also serve up a selection of cold Chinese desserts, I’ve tried the double boiled ginger milk curd and boiled egg custard. Both served cold(unless you happen to be there when it’s hot off the stove) both extremely yummy. The gal that serves us recognizes us as regulars and is quick to refill our Chinese tea plus brings the complimentary pre dinner soup as soon as we sit down.

Ok so I’ve never eaten here BUT I have been in the kitchen. My line of work we go into kitchens to test hood suppression systems. That being said I can only talk about the kitchen environment: EWWWWWW flies everywhere, flies on the food you ordered flies on the food they’re prepping flies on the flies on flies! Again I haven’t eaten here but daaaaaaaang it’s gross in the back

I am trying really hard to support and enjoy a good neighborhood Chinese restaurant. We all need one for the occasional cravings. But New Peking is not cooperating! It’s OK with some dishes(hence the 2 stars) and bad on others. I think the menu is too large and they are doing a bad job trying to please everybody. Last week, our daughter wanted some Hot & Sour Soup, so we got a large portion. $ 6.50 for the soup, tasted fresh, and the portion size was good, but it was neither hot nor sour. We had to add vinegar and pepper at home. Things got worse after that. I saw Hainanese Chicken Rice on the special list and couldn’t resist. Bad mistake. I have had some excellent versions in Singapore and Malaysia, but in this case I would have settled for a half decent version. But they had curry flavored rice. That’s not done. The ‘Chicken Rice’ needs melted fat from the chicken and broth from the steaming to give it’s unique flavor. Not curry rice, with raw curry powder mixed into the rice. And, where is the chili sauce that accompanies traditional versions? BTW, they didn’t give chili oil on the takeout order even after specific requests. We ordered Salt n’ Pepper Fish as well. Nothing worth mentioning — $ 10.50 for a few bite size pieces of fried fish had me irritated. As I said, they are doing a crappy job and advertising food that does not meet expectations. Never again!

I really want to like this place more and give it more stars, but the dishes do not have the great-tasting, hand-blended sauces that make other top Chinese places stand out. The interior and décor is truly forgettable as is the china and the silverware. I know $ 20 for 3 dishes is cheap but find a way to make it not feel that way too. They have a broad menu and the portions are big, but we didn’t want to take home the dishes we did not finish. Maybe they need to change the chef(s).

3 dishes for $ 20 is a good deal. Food and service is decent. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Chinese restaurants around and at a certain point you just have to sink or swim. While not bad in its own rite, New Peking doesn’t to my mind swim amongst the vast expanse of simply superior Chinese restaurants. It’s worth giving a try, but in the end I simply find it hard to recommend a restaurant that does not ultimately compete against others in the South bay.

Comes with Steamed Rice New Peking Restaurant is in a older Strip Mall. They have 2LCD TVs for entertainment. Its Furnished like and Old School Chinese Restaurant. All three plates came at the same time. Great sized portions and plenty of flavor. A win win for me . I payed by Visa Card and rolled out.

It’s great dinner place for the price of $ 20 for 3 dishes with soup and fruits/desserts Been here couple times, try various dishes and so far nothing has disappointed me. All has been good quality and good portion for the price. Service: nice customer service. Parking: plenty outside

I have tried their dinner. We had a large group, so we ordered some from their 3 for $ 20 dishes plus other dishes at regular prices. I’ll stick with my original review. Their Cantonese dishes are good and their non-Cantonese dishes are no good. To reconfirm their identity crisis, they give you two sets of menus. One says New Peking on the cover that probably was inherited from the previous owner. The other one says«Sun Yuet Guang» in Chinese which should be what the chef is good at.

Their dim here sucks. Compared to Dynasty or any other place around the area, the dim sum is very bland and dry. There isn’t much flavor to it and there isn’t… well a whole lot to it. However, for dinner, this place is decent. The dishes are quite nice and reasonably priced. The only thing though is they only give us a small amount of rice. If we wanted more, we have to pay extra for still not a whole lot of rice. My favorite dish here is the salted squid :) I probably wouldn’t come here on my own, but my parents really like it here so we’re sorta becoming a regular here.

Three dishes, up to 100 different choices, for 19.95. You get free rice and sometimes free soup and even dessert. I took away a star because we saw other tables getting free soup and dessert but we got neither with our meal. I’m not sure how they determine which tables get soup and dessert and which tables don’t. We ordered spareribs in sweet and sour sauce, fried filet fish with salt and pepper, and eggplant in garlic sauce. Two first two dish was on par but the eggplant in garlic sauce was bland tasting. The eggplant dish was overpowered by the taste of the bamboo. Service was decent, at one point we asked for water and the waitress initially forgot but after 10 min brought over a large glass with ice and water. The glass cup looks clean. Not the old and dingy looking plastic or small glass cups you get in most Chinese restaurants. This is a rare find as most Chinese restaurants in this area will run you over $ 30 for 3 dishes with rice. The menu does contain around 25% of Panda Express friendly dishes, but if you order does you probably wont taste much of the meat or seafood items as the main ingredient. After ordering it took between 10 to 15 minuets before we received our first dish with rice. After that it took 5 to 10 minutes of in between wait to get the rest of our dishes. Their regular menu also offered a lot of variety at affordable prices. Another plus is that they take credit cards(Discover, Visa, MC). The places I know that offer 3 items for less than $ 20 usually takes cash only. Would definitely come back again. They close late(12am) and open early enough to beat the lunch crowd(11am). I saw a lot of people doing take out.

Our family comes here pretty often. The owners are my grandpa’s friends from church so they always hook it up with free dishes when we dine here. I think this place was better before the remodel(before their kitchen got burned and had to remodel), but now it’s just so-so. The lady is super cute and friendly. She always say how handsome my brother is and always rub his arm and hug him. My brother doesn’t like to come here because he gets uncomfortable hahaha But we still go since it’s close by, the food isn’t bad, and because I like watching him run to the bathroom every time the lady comes by our table! HAHA =) Wait, maybe this is why we’re getting our free food? My brother, not bc they’re friends with my grandpa. hahahaha

Came here on Sunday with my family and grandparents. Use to be one of my grandparent’s favorite places and we finally got around to trying the«new» place with them. The new place is a lot smaller than the old one and a lot plainer too. No characteristics to the place but everything is relatively clean. As for the food– everything was ok. Nothing super yumz but edible still. They had a good deal on «3 dishes and 2 bowls of rice» for $ 20. The dishes were usually veggies mixed with some pieces of meat and they were all had unique tastes so that was good. Also ordered the Beijing Duck which was soso– the flour wraps were dry and the duck wasn’t too meaty. Overall a so so place to go. Would only come again if grandparents requested it.
