Happy Smog Check

I like this place and will return in two years for my next smog. The entire process was done in 15 mins all without any appointments and the rate was pretty competitive. I would recommend this smog center highly. Would advice them to contact them in Unilocal before you schedule a trip.

I love this place and will return in two years for my next smog. I got off work early thinking I was going to be there for an hour or so, but to my surprise I was in and out in under 15 minutes.
The woman that handles the paperwork was nice, friendly, and very informative of their policy and procedures. Tip: If you don’t pass smog, return back after you’ve fixed the problem under 30 days for a free smog.

It was quick and easy. I was in and out of there. $ 65 out the door for a star required test for my older vehicle. Thank you! Will patronize this business again.

I’ve been going to this place for the last few years, The old lady there is flat out rude, if you ever ask her about using coupon or matching competitor pricing you can see an immediate change of attitude, it’s funny to see that. I go there once a year (I have multiple cars) just to see if I can piss her off more. Hahaha

I agree with another poster… Walked in and 20 minutes later it was all done. The total charges were $ 50. Not sure why there are negative reviews. The guy is very nice and professional. I would recommend to anyone. I am grateful for the reviews others have written. I went in with a smile on my face, was polite and respectful. Mom was hilarious.

Happy Smog advertises that they would accept competitor coupon. When I arrived at the Happy Smog location in San Jose with a competitor coupon, they advised me that the competitor coupon is only valid at that location where it was advertised when combining with a second service. I call the company on the coupon to confirm the price, and any stipulation that would be required to receive their coupon price. They advised my vehicle would be covered under their coupon price. When I advised the rep at Happy Smog they had already completed the smog, and would not honor their own advertisement «We accept any competitor coupon».

This is the most horrible place we’ve been to its just because this Asian guy named Eric Nguyen did a smog check for us and he failed us just because he said that the rpm was high. But as you can see the rpm was never the issue in the first place because other mechanics/​technicians told us that he failed us because the fuel cap was missing! The fuel cap was there the whole time when he did the smog test for us. He didn’t even check the fuel cap! And we back there to do the re test but he refused to because he knew that we were going to pass the smog test. the first thing that he said was f*ck men I told you to fix it first before I do the re test he said that the fuel cap doesn’t even matter he also put tampered on the test result. They charged us for 50 dollars and it all went to waste. I would recommend to not go or check out that place because they would just charge you for a lot and give you an attitude with his unprofessional service he also cussed in front of my boyfriend while talking to him I got mad at that time so we took our car to another smog test and it passed I would recommend for the people to go to evergreen smog instead of this sh*tty place and you would save a lot.

Yes, the place is fairly quick but the service is low quality. The technician was very unprofessional. After he was done with my car, he walked around us to talk on the phone about some confrontation he had while he was with his little brother. The lady called me up to tell me that my car had passed but we were waiting for him to give me the paperwork. I turned around and he took the paper and threw it on the desk in front of me. I know that everyone on here gets charged 40 $. I was charged 60 $ but i didn’t care about the price as long as the service was good. Looks like I didn’t get any. This place is only 5 mins away from my house but I think from now on, I will take my car elsewhere. Oh and I looked at the paper when we were driving home and they wrote that my car was an automatic and the reason for a smog check was change in ownership. My car is a manual transmission and I was there because I needed a smog to renewal my registration. Two stars for the lady because at least she was more professional.

I went looking around in my area to get a smog check. well I found this place close to where i live, I even printed out a coupon. I hope your ready to hear this, I learn something everyday! printed out coupon and there’s no amount of what the coupon is? well when i got there i said mmmm lets see here there’s someone waiting for there car to be smog… i said hello sir… is that your car? Yes «oh» how much is he going to charge you for your smog. He said 45.00 «oh» thats good. well when i gave him my coupon he said okay okay no problem. Guess what that man had no coupon and paid 45.00. on my smog invoice its says$ 56.00 then he put a line though it and put $ 51.75. He said because i have a coupon i will only charge you 40.00 so i got $ 5.00 discount. so folks look and see what they charge or call but don’t tell them about a discount coupon its seems they don’t like that. well they did do good service my wait was 20 minutes. I learn something again! So i gave them a #3

Came here on Wednesday, around 12pm for a smog check with a 2000 Nissan Altima. I called ahead to check it out and the lady spoke Vietnamese to me, was very professional and told me to come right away. LOL, okay! I confirmed a $ 40 price and immediately got my car worked on when I arrived.
Sat in an office for 15 – 20 minutes, filled out a short form, paid $ 40 and left. They accept cash and credit, standard.
Satisfied with my experience, no complaints! kinda sketchy area, but what do you expect on Story. Not gonna hold that against these people!

Arrived about 5:30p.m. and they had me out of there within 15 minutes. They were very nice and professional. Note; I brought a 95 Nissan Sentra with 263, xxx miles on it.

5 star for $ 40 out the door SMOG check. I have so far used their service 4 times.
Do know that Story Rd is a bit Ghetto and the old lady (mother of owner?) working here always look pissed off. I don’t mind at all but I won’t let my wife/​kids come. Here is what I always do:
1. Call to confirm $ 40 out the door and no line
2. Arrive and confirm $ 40 out the door
3. Done in less than 10 minutes!

Why distribute coupons if you are not going to honor it?
I recommended this place to my mom; we’ve been going here for a few years now and I really like the lady that runs this place BUT i cant ignore that the fact that you lied to my mama. She found a 10 dollar off coupon in the paper; I told her to call in first to confirm the price the lady responded «40 dollars with coupon» that did not sound right because I came here without one and it was 40 without one. She called in another time and this time she told the lady she didn’t have a coupon the lady said «okay I give you a coupon; $ 45»; TSK TSK my mom was not happy about being lied to and ended up taking her car to another shop she found in the adds, they had a coupon and yes they honored it.
Customers do not appreciate being lied to… I understand the need to bring in customers to your business but it shouldn’t be under false pretenses; thats called false advertising

Hmmm, not a very good experience. After my car failed the smog the technician thought it was funny and started laughing. The owner on the other hand tried to save face by saying come back after getting the check by a mechanic. I’ve always taken my cars their, but every since they changed technicians I noticed the drop of of professionalism. Oh, one last thing, he offered to tell me why it failed for a FEE! This is when I realized things have changed. Be careful here.

Very friendly people working there. Quick test. No problems at all. Went in on Monday to get my car checked and it was quick and easy.

Horrible Customer Service! I was ready to go here for my smog because I had a great experience a couple of years ago for my last smog.
They literally hung up on me twice because I said the word «coupon» !!! The woman was so rude when I called back thinking we accidentally got disconnected. She yelled something about the coupon and hung up on me again! Seriously… I guess it doesn’t matter the year, make and model of your car here.

Old man tried to screw me over on my gas cap saying it was the wrong one. He said «I need to put new one right now or you no pass.» I told him he was wrong and that I wasnt buying a new cap. After trying on 5 different ones he had, that didnt fit, he gave up and moved with the inspection not even apologizing. 3.5 stars for a $ 40 smog check.
Just make sure you have some knowledge about your car and how it works, or people will take advantage of you.

Nice place to bring your car for a smog check around East foothills. The owner is very helpful and give some tips if your car would not pass smog check. Normally you can grab a coupon and it would cost something around $ 40 with free retest which is pretty good price for a smog check only.
I highly recommend this place. Normally it’s hard to find a good service around East San Jose but this place is trustful, the owner is very careful with cars and courteous. I was very satisfied last time I’ve been there and would not hesitate to bring my Porsche again.
Test normally takes about 20 – 30 minutes, there is an office where you can wait. Normally there are not many cars waiting in line, maybe one or two.
