I was referred to Ben O’Hara through a mutual friend. Ben was great and easy to work with. I got my first two tattoos (ever!) last August. I loved them so much that I went and got two more this past May. All four of my tattoos are Star Wars related and I love them all. If you want a talented easy going artist, work with Ben. When I went back for my second set of tattoos, I wasn’t feeling good about it (guess I was just tired) Ben was totally cool and understanding about it. I came back two weeks later feeling great about getting my third and fourth tattoos. Ben did a great job, he is meticulous and will make sure you are happy before starting on your tattoo. This review is long overdue. Jason is awesome! I have 3 tattoos from him now. His prices are reasonable and he made my experience wonderful. Jason was super nice and made me feel comfortable. His lines are super clean and he has a very light hand (I got my first tattoo done by someone with a heavy hand, let’s just say OUCH horrible experience) I can’t wait to come back and get another piece done by him!

Did a walk-​in for my first tattoo, Thomas was fantastic! He was very honest and friendly to a newbie like me. His skill was good, not so hurt than I expected. We talked and in a while he finished the job before I knew it, before I left he also gave me an complementary lotion. 5 star experience!

After a little over 6 months of waiting for my second session, I finally had the money to finish my thigh piece! As always, Ace made sure that the area was sanitized and clean. Ace was able to color in my tattoo within 3 and a half hrs, which is great because i thought it would take longer than that since it takes up my whole thigh. Ace kept it professional and efficient with time. This is my 3^rd tattoo by Ace and I must say, it’s the best work he’s done so far! Completely 100% satisfied with everything!

I’ve gone to Hurtswell several times, i highly recommend this tattoo shop. (: i love the fact every-​time i walk in, they (tattoo artists) are very welcoming, have positive vibes, and make u feel comfortable vs. other shops were i’ve gone in the past and i jst felt awkward. Its spacious, they have nice paintings on their walls.
My tattoo artist is Christian Rosales «Ace» is amazing (: Not only have i seen him do good cover ups, portraits and random tattoos on my friends for a fair price, but hes very good at making all his guest feel welcomed. I been getting tattoos by him for quite a while so far he’s done ⁵⁄₇ of my tattoos. I love the fact that he’s very professional, he doesn’t answers phone calls while tattooing you or even touches his phone period! I love the fact that he sketches about 3 or 4 different things for tattoo ideas. Almost every tattoo he’s done on me he throws extra details thank you Ace! I love wearing tank-​tops and showing my arm piece i love the compliments i get all the time (: specially when i tell them it was freehand their surprised face is priceless thanks Ace!
Katie — not sure if i spelled your name correctly :/​sowwy. i love the fact every single time i walk in the shop, if she is not tattooing she is busy sketching. I think i even saw her painting with water colors (: she looks very passionate about color and she is always positive.
Jason– another amazing tattoo artist at hurtswell always tattooing (: i love the fact he gives Ace good critiques about work he’s doing, or jst randomly goes and talks to ppl that are hanging around the shop.
Overall i wouldn’t go to any other shop they are all amazing artists and very professional (:

I’ve gotten all my most recent tattoos here. I got my grandpas and dad’s initials on my Achilles, as well as a big scissor on my thigh by Jason. I love his work. The amount of detail put into the scissor is almost unreal. He copied a pair of antique scissors I have to a tee. I get compliments on it everywhere I go, and they’re in disbelief when I tell them how much I paid for it in comparison to other shops. I got an arrow done by Josh, and I love the way it came out as well. The ink is still as dark as it was when I first got it. I plan to get more done here! Thanks guys :)

I got to my dude Ace. I wouldn’t go to any other guy. He’s fixed a piece that I got from Inkies Tattoo which was horribly done and extremely over priced. ace has been working on my sleeve, and so far so good. He for sure fixes mess up! Affordable pricey & quality work!

Katie, your awesome!!! :) I just got my first tattoo today & my experience here at hurtswell was great. They are all nice and chill, but my tattooist was super kind, patient, & understanding. I definitely recommend this tattoo shop!

I’ve followed Josh since he was working at another shop in Fremont. Since then, I haven’t gone too any other artist (well, except for when I was in Thailand). But his work is truly unique — extremely detailed, thorough and shows the quality of work he’s put into that tat. Old work that I’ve had done doesn’t even compare to the new stuff Josh has inked on me.
I’ve received many compliments on my tattoos and will be a forever-​client. Problem is, I’m running out of space.

Friendly, clean, laid back atmosphere. great location near Japantown plus ample parking. Love this shop! Katie is amazing! She’s professional and thorough and always willing to work with you so you leave happy. She’s done all my work for nearly two years and I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend this place, I send everyone I know here. :)

JASON IS AMAZING!!! He’s done all of my tattoos and his work is awesome and affordable! He’s a great guy and is so very talented, I recommend him to everyone that compliments me on my tattoos. He did a traditional piece/​kind of portrait of my chihuahua and it looks fabulous! If you’re looking for traditional, bright, cute work he’s your guy!

Joshua is Awesome. He did my dads initials with a hardhat ;) along with the word Happiness. Joshua also did my flowers on My left shoulder! I love them and he does. Awesome work! I’m stoked no complaints here 5star!!! Thanks again Josh ;)

I came with my bf to get his tat of our kids name. He got it done by Jason. The artist is hella koo. We came pretty late without an appt. and he still was willing to do my bf’s tat! It’s a chill shop, there’s music and they also give u an option to play your music. He even offer me a shot! LOL. I didn’t skip up that offer. Hahaha. Some of that PAT rON! There’s hella space in the shop it’s not all crowded like other shops! It’s clean and they also have a waiting area with a flat screen tv, magazines and tattoo albums! Duh! LOL. OVERALL MY EXPERIENCE WAS AWESOME!!! I will be coming back for my tattoo! Go check it peoples :)
