Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft

Jo-Ann’s fabrics is great! Located right off the Almaden Expressway, it’s a pretty big store that has thousands of craft supplies. Their fabric section is awesome! They have so many, its unbelievable. But the wait for getting your selected fabric cut is usually very long. You have to take a number and wait :(I usually take a number and shop around with my eye on the number screen. The wait in line is usually very long too for some reason. I’ve probably spent a good 10 – 15 minutes in line because it gets very long or the ringers are just a bit slow.
They have more options than Michael’s, but it’s a little more overpriced. But when Michael’s doesn’t have something I need, I just come here. The other cool thing about this craft store is that they offer classes for sewing and other crafts! Awesome!
Jo-Ann’s also has a good supply of beads and jewlery pieces for ravers out there! PLUR!

Just wanted to leave this review while im in the car because i left feeling very displeased. I drove quite a mission to get to joanns because it’s surprisingly no where near my house just to pick up a couple pieces of fabric, which were on sale thankfully :). But at the cash register, the cashier, name starts with a J i believe, she had the worst customer service Ive experienced in a while. And our interaction was less than a minute!
No smile when i walked up, rang my fabrics up, and stared at me w a blank stare as i inserted my card to pay. Grabbed the receipt, handed it to me with absolutely no words just a stare and no smile while i whispered a thank you…
I felt so unwelcomed and frankly quite selfconscious. Is it something on my face? My clothing? Was it my facial expression?
It obviously ticked me hard if im typing this on my phone in the parking lot.
Please get it together. Customer service can go a very long way.

The lady who helped me check out was so incredibly helpful, she got my total down $ 25 with coupons! I’m on a tight budget for crafting and the fact that they were so helpful made my experience so wonderful. PLUS she told me that they take coupons from Michael’s and other craft store competitors! Highly recommend.

Without exception, every time I shop at Joann’s on Almaden, San Jose there’s an unacceptable wait time at the registers. Twice I’ve waited over ten minutes to be served and another time I just put my basket down and walked out. Today as I stand in a line of 10 people there is only one cashier working!!!
They have a good range of fabrics, craft supplies and haberdashery and the layout, prices and discount coupons are all great too — just don’t expect to make a quick trip in and out if you’re in a hurry.

The workers are very welcoming and super nice. I came in an hour before closing so I only saw a few workers. Other than that, this is my new favorite spot. Will definitely be going here again.

Staff is always friendly and knowledgable; BONUS they help you save $$& big time. Downfall is there’s never any hand baskets so I end up putting my checkout items in my bags and bring them to register. Never been given dirty looks for it but do remind them there’s no hand baskets.

the employees don’t seem too knowledgeable about the products they carry. You’re better off going to a fabric store and doing a ton of research online…

I’ve been to Jo-​Ann Fabric 4 times now. All of my experiences have been horrible. Twice, I just left because the line was going so slow. One of the times I went I just needed 1 item, all I needed to pick up was a new measuring tape. It was a Saturday afternoon and the line was 6 customers deep and they had 1 cashier who slowly took her time. No sense of urgency so I left. The last couple of times I came in I had to pick up some fabric. An associate by the name of Miranda helped me out (I use helped me out loosely). She was so bothered and was annoyed that I was asking questions. She acted as if she didn’t want to even be there to serve customers. I asked Miranda specifics about a couple of the different fabrics and short of rolling her eyes she would answer. I realize how hard retail work is, but I would never take out my frustrations on customers or be rude to them. Aside from poor customer service, I do like the variety of items that they carry here. They have arts, crafts, kids projects and holiday décor. I will think long and hard if I will be going back, I could do without the bad attitude and slow service. Oh, I just talked myself out of going back.

I love this new location. And by new, they’ve been here quite a few years. They used to be near where Kooser hits Blossom Hill. This store is so much bigger and they have a great selection of, well, everything. I used to sew and passed that love onto my daughter. I mostly knit and enjoy that they do have a wide variety of yarns to choose from. And I love their books.
Bathrooms are mostly good. Usually clean.
The parking lot is OK. I prefer to park over along the side of the building. The lines are straight on rather than slanted so that’s annoying.
Staff are always helpful.
If you’re buying fabric during a heavy season (like Halloween…) get your number first and then go get your fabric bolts. It can sometimes take a long while. Or get a book and read while waiting. The downside is that there is really no good place to wait. The upside is that they do a great job of using the PA system to call your number in case you’re over looking at the jewelry section or cake baking section.

I do enjoy this place very much. I needed some last minute things for a project I was doing and wasn’t sure if I would find everything I needed and was sure I would need to go somewhere else. I found everything right away with no problems. Customer service was excellent as well!

I have been to this location 4 separate times in the past 10 days and every visit it seemed that this location was understaffed. The lines were huge at both the check out counter and cutting station. I was there to get a sewing machine. The one I wanted had a sign and a space picked out for it, but it wasn’t stocked yet. The employee told me they were actually in the back of the store, but couldn’t get to it yet because it was a very large order and many boxes were in front of it. So she told me if I placed a special order for it they would call me within a couple of days and I could pick it up… Fast forward 10 days and extra visits and I FINALLY got it! If I had known it would have taken them that long to unpack their shipment I obviously would have gotten the sewing machine elsewhere.

I was very impressed with the service and cleanliness of this Jo-​Ann Fabrics store. It is well organized and well stocked. I especially want to commend Mary, who may be the manager, as she seems to wear a lot of hats! She took the time to help me find fabric and coordinating liner fabric. She even suggested a stylish closure that I wouldn’t have thought of. I bought an expensive fabric, but with her help I found an online coupon and save 60%! This will be my go to place for all future projects.

Jo-​Ann always delivers great variety, sweet coupon and sale deals, and terrific customer service. I have asked for — and received — help on projects numerous times, including — «Hi — I read the directions on this pattern I bought last week, and I’m totally lost.» I keep coming back even though it’s a drive, because I get better deals here than in my hometown, and the people and selection are awesome.

Measurements are Serious business. And if I were home, I’d have been able to pull a measurement tape out of my purse.
But… not today. So when the request came in for me to get my measurements to someone I HAD to find a store. Unilocal TO THE RESCUE!!!
The store was large, almost too large. they are mostly organized but understaffed, SORELY Understaffed. Waited in line at the register for 11 minutes as the only cashier had to help a family understand something, and then bleed through the 4 people in line.

This place just doesn’t sell fabric but it has an arts and crafts area too. The fabric selection is alright. I like how everything is stocked well and how it offers other items that aren’t just fabrics.

nice, clean store, very organized. I had been going to michaels on Quimby and what a difference this store is by fare a 5+ stars in compare.
The staff was very helpful from assisting while I shop, the lady that does the cutting to the customer service at the cash register.

they remind you to log in on the website to get discount coupons which is an extra value from them.

Prices are pricey but the selections are way better then then handcocks. It’s best to go when they have a sale. Fyi tomorrow 50 and 40% off. The staff is so friendly and super helpful. This i now my go to fabric spot.

Took my first sewing class at the San Jose Tech Shop and now I want fabric to try my hand at some other projects!
Found Jo-​Ann to be a lot better than Hancock Fabric. Way more materials and projects to choose from. In my case I was looking for faux leather to create a bed saddle bag for my iphone.
Be sure to load the RetailMeNot app to get the latest coupon. They do the Michaels thing with 40% off coupons so you’ll feel like you’re getting taken if you don’t flash the latest coupon at check out. Recommend going weekdays to avoid the insanity that is the South Bay!

This store is awful! They are always out of stock. But let me clear something up. They have the item in the back but they are telling me it’s going to take them hours to find it! (10mm jump ring) telling to come back in a few days. I’m coming back they not only not restocked it, the supply looks even worse! When I ask to check for other stores stock they tell me to call them myself… (Had that happen to me 3 separate times now!)

I have never visited a Jo-​Ann Fabrics before. My friends always rave about their great selection for fabrics, so my husband I went to check it out one day. Sadly I wasn’t really impressed.

They do have really nice fabrics, but I couldn’t get anyone to help me find what I was looking for. Also they have really REALLY high prices. I will stick to going to Fabrics R Us for better fabric prices, and got to Micheal’s for my crafting needs.

literally the worst customer service I’ve ever had. I’ve been all over the Bay Area looking for Santa hat stickers, and I called this location and they said there were 3 packs left. they said they’d hold them for me, once I got there everyone was extremely rude, they made me wait in a huge line just to see the stickers (there was only one cashier). once I finally got up to the register, the cashier, Dulce, was extremely rude about my stickers being sold. not one apology. I work at michaels, and we never in a million years would sell something on hold, none the less handle the situation the way they handled it. I was actually shocked at how poorly it was ran. ZERO STARS.

This place has a great selection of crafting and sewing goods. But the only word I have for the employees is MOLASSES!
Don’t come her if you’re in a hurry or if you anger easily. Last time I was there I waited in line 13 minutes (yes I timed it) The women working the register began helping a woman when the phone rang. She stayed on the phone for 6 minutes punching in numbers trying to find something they had in stock instead of putting the person on hold and helping the person in front of her. The woman at the other register was doing a price check and was gone most of the time. By this time there were 6 people in line and no light at the end of the tunnel. By the time I left, the woman who had taken the phone call was still trying to ring up the woman’s 4 items. Did I mention it was 9:45 am and not many people in the store? If I wasn’t desperate for the 1 item I was buying I would have left.
Like I said, take a Xanax or your blood pressure medicine before you come here.

Been to this store a few times. I have mixed reviews about their service. Today, an employee was super friendly and walked us over to the aisle and helped us look through different ribbons. But awhile back, I asked an employee where a certain item was located and his reply was, «I’m off the clock. Maybe you can ask someone in the front». I prefer to go to another Hancock Fabrics, they have more customer friendly employees, but I ended up at Joann’s Fabrics because they just have a bigger selection. Their service is inconsistent but they have a good selection of merchandise.

I was trying to find either gray ribbon or felt fabric to make a bow. I went to a couple of Michaels locations with no luck. They had such limited selection.
Finally, I found JoAnn Fabrics and called them and they said they had both. I went in there and was amazed at the amount of selection compared to Michaels. Everyone was helpful, especially the lady at the register. She pointed me to the Joann fabric website and the app for coupons and saved me half off of the spool of ribbon I purcahsed. Thanks!
