Sleep Medicine Services – Clinic

Dr. Clerk is intelligent and very by the book. He really wants to help his patients get the best care they can. However he fundamentally does not seem to understand anxiety. I had to go off of my anti-​anxiety medication in order to take the MSLT, and when I expressed to him my worry that being anxious would interfere with the results of the MSLT, he told me that if the anxiety stops me from falling asleep, then that fixes the problem. This is so out of touch with and dismissive of anxiety that I really wasn’t even sure what to say.
I have never experienced this level of logistical errors from an office. When I am told I will be called back, I am not called back. The receptionist is sometimes dismissive on the phone and seems eager to get off of it. When I let them know that I had dietary restrictions, it was forgotten about. The second time it came up, I received not nearly enough food from their vendor and was hungry during the entire MSLT. They did not get my insurance processed in time for the test the first time around, and only told me about half of an hour before I was supposed to show up for it. They did not seem to understand what was required to get my eventual prescription through the process of getting it to me. This seems like it might also be a logistical error, and it was only added to when I got a letter from my insurance saying that my request for medication had been denied because they had contacted my Dr.‘s office and asked for more specific information and they did not receive the forms in time, so the request was closed out.
Other people I know who have been here have experienced similar logistical issues, such as being double booked for an appointment. They also experienced the same issue with the insurance not being processed. I don’t know what exactly is going on here, but it’s really sad because the heart of the doctor is in the right place but there just isn’t solid enough follow-​through. I will be finding another doctor to handle my treatment.

We found them to be very thorough, accommodating of schedules, and quite helpful. Would recommend. It can take longer to get an appointment than expected.
