First and foremost i would like to give a shout out to the amazing workers at Speed Elements. Cody and Jason are remarkable mechanics, not to mention knowledgable. Been here about 3 – 4 times and every time they fixed my car, no problem. The owner Devin is incredibly nice and will give you his best judgement when it comes to determining what’s best.

First of all, I would like to shout out Devin, Jason and Codi for working with me through my car troubles!
I came to Speed Element in December to have them diagnose what I believed to be rod knock on my motor. Sure enough it was knocking and Devin ran me through my options. I ended up opting for a complete rebuild of the motor with slightly upgraded internals. Devin guided me throughout the build and recommended parts I should purchase to prolong the life of my motor. He didn’t just recommend them either, he explained why he recommended them and even threw in a couple of his past customer experiences with them. He didn’t just want to sell me on another part, he just wanted to see the car in healthy working condition.
I was quoted during my first visit and Devin told me he would periodically contact me to update me during the build and if there were any problems. I expected there to be more problems with my car and there definitely was, I was prepared for that. Devin took the time out of his day to talk to me on the phone and asked me what I wanted to do. When my block was at the machine shop he also updated me on how far along it was. Throughout each stage of the build, I was contacted by Devin.
When the car was completed Devin stated that he would keep the car for an extra day to drive it around and ensure everything was in complete working condition. That made me feel so much better as a customer because the previous shop that I had build my motor didn’t do that (or even update me on how the build is going for that matter). I like that SE cares about their customers, A+++
My total bill was higher than the original quote, but I expected that. My car wasn’t exactly the healthiest, but I knew SE would take care of me and make things in working/​healthy condition again. I know some of the previous reviews stated that their builds took a while, but I understood that this is a high traffic shop and customers are always returning for something to be built or installed. I have faith in SE which is why I chose them for my build. Loyal customer since 2008 and I will definitely be returning for my car needs. Thanks again Devin and Jason for dealing with my headaches and Codi for building my motor. Thank you Speed Element for getting my car back on the road, you’ll be seeing me soon.

Very knowledgable staff. They did some fairly simple work for me, installing a shift stop and bushing. Everything works great, they tested the car after installation and did everything at a competitive price. They have some cool shop cars and many cool customer cars around. I will definitely be coming back for more work in the future.

Devin and the guys over at Speed Element are the only people that I trust my cars with. Not only that they take pride in their work but they don’t try and upsell you for unnecessary services or parts needed for your car. I’ve also referred a lot of my friends to them and heard nothing but great feedback!

Absolutely great shop! I’ve had a bunch of mods done to my 2015 FRS Release 1.0 including carbon fiber trunk/​spoiler, AP racing brakes, and Vortech supercharger install. Devin, Ryan, and Cody have always been fantastic — accommodating, friendly, helpful. Can’t say enough good things about this shop!

This is a late review, but I wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with my car before writing this (in case I had to take the car back). So here it goes:
I dropped off my 350z on 08/​18/​2014 to potentially remove some performance parts that were installed on the car. About a week later I was told by one of the service writers (Also named Ryan) that the work would take 16 hours and would be done within two business days after the shop started on my car. I authorized them to make the repairs shortly after the quote. Fast forward to 01÷16÷15, Speed Element still had my car and states a new excuse every time I call for an update. Yes, my car has been sitting there for 5 months, I have never received a phone call from the shop letting me know the progress on the repairs. I called Speed Element on 01÷12÷14 and Ryan stated that my car was completed and ready for pick up. I went to pick up the car on 01÷13÷14 and found my car to be no where near driving condition. Ryan was not there, but another service writer named Jason apologized for the mis-​communication and promised a Technician would work on the car on ⁰¹⁄₁₅ to ⁰¹⁄₁₆ to complete the work by the weekend. I called the shop on ⁰¹⁄₁₆ to make sure my car was on schedule and Jason said his Technician got hurt on ⁰¹⁄₁₅ and couldn’t work on the car. I am paying $ 120 a month for insurance on my car just to have it sit at their shop. I am already out $ 600 paying insurance on a repair that was originally quoted two business days. 5 months is a very unreasonable amount of time and Speed Element was still no where near being finished.
A few days later my car is finally ready for pick up. Initial quote on the work was $ 1600. When I go into the office to pay they hit me with a $ 2400 invoice!!! They stated that it took longer than expected. It sure did take longer, it took what you stated 2 days, nearly 6 months to complete!!! During the entire duration you never called to say, «Hey, this is gonna be more work that first quoted, do you authorize this additional labor?» Needless to say, I will not be coming back here.

I had a tight deadline to get my car track-​worthy before an event at Willow Springs. There was a lot of work involved, including a clutch replacement and oil cooler installation, but the folks at Speed Element did a fantastic job getting the car ready in time and I’m happy to report that the car performed flawlessly! Jason, Cody, Ryan, Jeff, and the rest of the crew burned the midnight oil to get my car ready in time and I will be back again soon.
Fantastic service — they even picked me up from Caltrain when my car was ready! Highly recommended!

Ryan and the crew down at Speed Element have been awesome. Looking for a mod friendly shop in San Jose that I could trust with my car was a pain until I found Speed Element. Based on the work they have done for others and the fact they specialize in customization I knew this was a good place to get some work on my suspension.
From my first call to Ryan at the shop he offered his input and advice without the attitude/​ego you get at other performance shops. We found what I needed and Ryan took care of everything.
Jason was great and followed up with me a number of times to update the status of my parts etc. The shop tech Cody was very cool and offered some expertise about the installation. Ryan made sure my ride was up to Speed Elements standards before turning it over to me.
There was a hiccup with some of the billing paperwork but Ryan got that handled the same day of my install.
I will definitely be back to Speed Element because they are professional and down to earth dudes who get things done.

I own a Scion FR-​S and have purchased exhaust and suspension components for it. The staff at Speed Element are very friendly and know the products well. I am very pleased with the customer service and the quality of work. I have had my car aligned also and they spent the extra time to make sure it was right. Highly recommend Speed Element for any of your tuning needs

Stevens Creek Subaru told me I needed a top end rebuild on my 2007 Impreza that was leaking oil. They said there was no sign of an oil leak so it must be internal and it would be about 6k.
Took my car to Devin at the advice of a friend that knew Devin. He told me they were honest and that they would not overcharge you like the dealer.
Devin told me he would do a extensive diagnosis of the car and get back to me. Keep in mind I did sign for a estimate of a top end rebuild for 4k with these guys.
Fast forward, no compression loss, no oil leak, fouled plugs and gapped incorrectly, timing was off, oil change and compression check, new plugs and a bill for $ sub 300.00. Much easier to digest than $ 6k. Yes please keep in mind I signed to have them complete the work for a top end rebuild at 4k.
These guys saved me enough money to work on my 2013 WRX.

My 2007 Impreza (daughter’s) runs great and my 2013 WRX is crazy fun. These guys totally lead me in my choices in what they thought was best for what I wanted and even talked me out of parts they thought I didn’t need. So glad I listened here as well, saved me money again and made me into a true Sub enthusiast!!! I can’t wait to drive my car every day!!! I’ve never been excited to drive a car as much as my WRX they helped me create!!!
These guys are honest and would lead you in a direction they would choose for themselves, which is far from anything I’ve ever experienced. Unheard of service for this day and age where profits seem to be all that people are interested now days.
I’m a loyal customer from now on!!!

The staff was nice and direct, had my car in and out within about an hour for an alignment. However for being a shop with lots of enthusiast racers and drifters I was surprised that they don’t let customers into the shop space to observe.
I had an alignment done here and I found my steering rack boots twisted up and torn after the alignment. The steering rack was brand new. Bummer. Exactly why I like watching people work on my car.
2 stars for being nice but I was expecting it to be a clean job, otherwise I’d take my car to any old Goodyear place for $ 60.

Just got my first suby and had some questions. Decided to give them a call and I got ahold of Jason. Very knowledgeable and a nice guy, most shops I have been to people were snooty and not as friendly. Will definitely come back!

Went to this shop to install my kw v3 on my 2012 evo x. First off I live in dublin and knew the trip out there on a weekday would be rough with all the traffic. But after everything was installed and I met the folk at the shop, I knew it was worth every bit of traffic. The owner Devin is very helpful and goes above and beyond to ensures the customer get the best recommendation and prices. Jason one of the sales associate is also helpful and worked very professionally and help to ensure my appointment fit with my lifestyle and kept me up to date on my appointment and help me with a quote for tires. Kody who was the mechanic that was installing my suspension was also amazing and friendly and very knowledgeable. I would recommend any and all my friends to this shop. They are not here to reap you for your money they are here to ensure what you want is what you get at the best price and the best customer experience. Thanks again speedelement

Emailed Speed Element for a price quote and got a very quick respond from Devin. A few days later, I called in to verify and Jason quickly fitted me on a busy friday.
I came in to have a shock/​spring combo installed on my 2012 Honda Civic Si followed by SPC front bolts and rear camber kit. Afterwards, I got in a custom alignment and they tried their best to try and match them.
Even though I had to wait quite a while, it was totally worth it. I am glad to have waited awhile. They took their time, made sure that it was drivable with various test drives. They kept me updated each time something changed and even offered me snacks which I had to take advantage of.
Overall, this auto shop is extremely friendly and they know their business to a tea. Definitely recommend this special enthusiast shop.

Great customer service and pricing.
They were able to accommodate my tight scheduling to allow me to pick up some Valenti taillights for my FR-​S RS1.0. Jason, in particular, was very helpful and courteous in the entire process. Definitely will come back for future work on my cars.

Awesome shop with great service!
Took my M3 there to have exhaust installed. They did an excellent job in install and verification. There was an issue with clearance on the cross braces and they heat wrapped and tested the cross to ensure no vibrations. Car sounds awesome.
I would recommend them for your aftermarket needs!

Speed Element has some of the fairest prices for labor around. I had them do my brakes on my old Evo X, and they let me lounge around the shop all day while the repairs were being done. The owner was nice enough to show me some of his show cars in the shop, and we talked about various parts and mods for a bit. The waiting room is comfortable, with a sofa and a TV with various movies and shows for you to watch while you wait.
I am going back to Speed Element for work on my new car, and I cannot be more excited. These guys are friendly and will not hesitate to help you over the phone for simple/​dumb questions regarding what parts to buy and what is good for your car. I believe that they «specialize» in mostly JDM stuff, like Evos, Subarus, Lexus’, etc., but I would not be surprised if they can handle some other brands, like BMW and whatnot. As always, simply give them a call, and they will accommodate.
