VTA – Bascom Light Rail Station

Nice station. Well organized, easy to park.

Finally! They take credit cards! I don’t mind taking the light rail on weekends when it’s light out. But sometimes it gets a little sketchy
I took the vta to the convention center for the rock n roll marathon and was very pleased with the service. It was definitely packed since people were smart and took public transportation, but we got there at our scheduled time with no hiccups!

The lightrail itself sometimes has some sketchy ass people! Then again, when do you NOT see weird people on PT?
The service itself is great for the most part. It gets minus one star because there has been a few times when it has been late and delayed. There are also TWO Santa Teresa lightrails that come in a row around 10 – 10:30 at the stop in fron of House of Siam. This sucks sionce I get out class around 10:15 and have to wait till 11 for a Winchester light rail. On sunny days its ok, but there have been days where I freeze my NADS off waiting for it. Besides those two things, its always on time.
The lightrail is also convinient when you go to the Sharks games since you dont have to worry about the madness when people leave. Its fun when you have a TON of Sharks fans in there at the same time! They just need to serve Booze and turn it into a party!
The VTA pass is included with my SJSU tuitions so I guess its not as bad as the others who pay monthly/​daily.

I like this VTA station because it’s so close to the apartment. It’s clean and has working Clipper card stations (I’ve noticed a few one of the ones in downtown San Jose don’t always work). There’s also long-​term bike parking here for those who rent the spots.
The only sketchy thing about this place is that it’s located behind a large shopping complex parking lot, near the loading areas. What happens is a number of folks will cross the tracks and pull down a piece of the fence that separates the station and the lot. I suppose it’s faster than going all the way down Southwest to Stokes to Bascom, but it’s not particularly safe.
But compared to waiting at other public transportation locations all across the Bay Area, this ones not so bad.

Talk about convenient! I’ve lived in Campbell for over a year and a half, and I’ve never taken the light rail! I was going to the Sharks game last night and wanted to avoid paying parking and dealing with traffic, so I decided to take light rail.
I arrived at the parking lot 45 minutes before the game started, parked my car (there were still lots of spots left even!), paid for an 8-​hour excursion fare, and boarded the train when it arrived. We made it down to the Diridon Train Station in less than 10 minutes, and I walked into the Shark Tank. No hassles, no traffic, and I even got a little exercise from it.
If I knew it was this easy to transfer to Caltrain from Campbell using light rail, I might even consider taking the light rail to Caltrain to get to work in the morning!
