History

Established in 1950.

W. A. Call Manufacturing Co., Inc. was started by Wallace Arnold Call. Wally, as he was called, was a master plumber for many years before he realized the market potential of the rather new HVAC industry. The increase in the homebuilding industry that developed in the bay area triggered the need for a manufacturer and supplier in the area. Until that time, many contractors had been fabricating pipes and fittings in their owns shops – but when housing tracts of 300 and 400 homes began appearing, they needed a larger volume of sheet metal products. Wally recognized that need and switched gears in order to satisfy the demand of the HVAC industry.

W. A. Call Mfg. Co., Inc. was family owned for two generations. Wally’s son, W. A. (Pat) Call, Jr. was the company president from 1982 until his death in 2005. At that time, Diane M. Pourroy, then the Company’s Vice-​President, purchased the company from the estate and it has been ran by the Pourroy family since.

Diane joined the firm in 1984 after graduating from San Jose State University with a BS in Business Administration/​Management. Diane became President and sole owner in 2005.
