Willow Glen Dental

The best dental visit by far. I hesitate to write this review in an effort to hide this little gem of an office, but that wouldn’t be fair because everyone deserves an excellent dental experience and to take good care of their teeth. My dental hygienist, Jennifer, was the most gentle yet the most knowledgeable, to the point that she could pass as a dentist. In addition, my dentist, Dr. Harvey is lovely and I actually can’t wait to get some work done. I feel fortunate to have found this superb team.

I just had a cleaning done and learned for the first time exactly how and why to floss. I had a traumatic experience at the dentist as a child and still have issues with going. Dr. Douglas Kong has been great with making me feel at ease and explaining everything.

Place is nice, clean, and the people are friendly! Dr Brian is wonderful. This visit I had hygienist Jennifer and she was gentle yet thorough.
However…The street never has open parking and I can’t get over that back parking lot. There’s overflowing dumpsters, even old furniture next to it that someone dumped out. I feel like I’m parking behind a grocery store or dirty restaurant every time i come here.

I’ve been going to this office since 1970 as a kid and still going. I’m very satisfied with all their services as well as hygienists. I even send new patients to them. I won’t give it up! Thanks for the services Dr’s Kong and Dr Lee!

I’ve been going to Dr. Kong at Willow Glen Dental for over 12 years. The dental hygienists are very friendly and do excellent work cleaning my teeth. I have never felt the need to change to another dentist. Dr. Douglas Kong is super nice and every 6 months during my cleaning we get to chit chat about how the Giants, Niners, or Warriors are doing and talk about where we have traveled around the world recently. The facility is clean, and they have up to date equipment and also have nice luxuries like free wifi and flat screen tv in each room so you can watch tv while your teeth is getting cleaned.
One minor thing I never understood however is that they still bill me $ 9 or $ 10 every time I get my teeth cleaned or x-​rayed. My insurance has always covered me 100% so I’m not sure why I get charged.
Anyhow, if you can get an appointment, I do recommend Dr. Kong!

BEST of the BEST dental offices I’ve EVER been too. Seriously! the staff and doctors here are super nice, everyone you talk to has a smile on their face or just in a good mood. The office is very clean and updated, the technology is up to date (which is a plus, can’t be using 1960’s equipment!) HA!
I would definitely recommend this office to anyone and everyone! Before I would hate/​dread going to the dentist, but now Willow Glen Dental has changed that mindset for me.

I was SO relieved to find Willow Glen Dental and Dr. Kong (Brian) after being in dentist hell with my previous dentists. Dr. Kong is not only skilled, he’s friendly and kind, taking time to answer questions in detail and offer various options to solve an issue. Bonus: the office staff is friendly, helpful, and I’m never kept waiting for an appointment — the are exceptionally prompt. I’ve been so happy with the services here that I’ve referred a couple of friends to Dr. Kong who are now his patients and extremely satisfied as well.

Had a great first time experience at this dental office. I found them here on Unilocal,and was naturally anxious when going in, having had some bad experiences with dentists in the past.
I couldn’t be more satisfied. Dr. Kong is professional, courteous, and has a great bedside manner. Kanela, his assistant is friendly and warm and really helps put you at ease. Christina handled my paperwork and was very nice as well.
I feel like I have found myself a dentist.

Me and my family have been going to Willow Glen Dental for over 20 years, and we couldn’t be more happy with the many years of great helthy service. Our kids love getting their teeth cleaned and coming in for yearly checkups. The family like atmosphere is why we love coming back.

I highly recommend Dr. Brian and his staff! They are so gentle and compassionate. I’ve had the best dental experience ever.

For the first consultant, Teanne and Dr. Brian Kong was phenomenal! Oh, also all of the front desk staffs were fantastic. They are all so nice and sweet. At first when I walked in I was greet with so much warm welcomes. Teanna, my hygienist was very sweet and made me feel comfortable even though my anxiety was at level 10. Dr. Brian Kong was very thorough with what my next steps were and ease my embarassment. Their tone of voice was very calming. I have an another appointment in a couple of weeks for a cleaning with Teanne. I actually look forward to it because of this experience. :) Will update then. :)

I was a really big fan of WGD, until I had to switch insurances.
The first time I dropped in I brought my new providers card, which they glanced at and told me they didn’t need to see. So after switching to Delta Dental and being doubly covered under another insurance my assumption was they would run my name and both insurances would come up, since I mentioned I was no longer with my last firm and made sure to tell them to take them off my contact sheet.
I’d come in for two appointments, one cleaning and one filling. Then began the several months of trial. They called me several times to tell me I had an outstanding balance… wait… what? And after calling them and verbally giving it twice, finally giving them the insurance contact info by email in writing so it would actually be seen by someone, I was sent a bill because of course, they hadn’t removed my last insurance and the claim hadn’t gone through.
Seriously? I called them and left a message to confirm that they again, had not «lost» both sets of my insurance information, and after not receiving a response I called them and they confirmed I was fine, that they had received the information.
I called them for a total balance amount and ended up having to call my first insurance provider to have them call the dentist to put in the first claim as surprise surprise, they had billed, yet again my old insurance company. To this day they still don’t send me a correct bill as they only run one insurance at a time, so I just ignore the bills I get until they actually call me — because what they send me is always incorrect.
Honestly, I went back and forth on writing this review and had simply decided to switch dentists until I started having some jaw issues and finally woke up in pain one morning. So of course I came in to see the dentist — still in pain. The assistant of the day (they never seem to have the same dental assistants) took an x-​ray, the dentist consulted on it, referred me to an Endo and thus began my day of the olé switcheroo.
They had a new receptionist at the front and we went through three Endodontist offices until we found one with an appointment that day. Who just happened to be a 5 minute walk away. The issue with the entire situation? I had to push to have her even call a second office. Hell, I had to push harder for the third. The first one I was recommended couldn’t seen me until 6 days later. I had to keep saying, «isn’t there someone who can see me today? This week even?»
After I walked over to the Endo, he ended up taking another X-​ray as the receptionist they spoke with both couldn’t remember they’d taken one for me and then never sent it after it was requested from the new office. The Endo confirmed the pain had nothing to do with my crown and sent me back to my dentist for a nightguard. They called the office while I was checking out and handed over the phone as the new receptionist wanted to speak to me about scheduling the impression.
After 5 minutes of her speaking to me for 10 seconds, putting me on hold for a minute and so on and so forth, I told her I would just walk back over. I mean really, I was tying up the Endo’s phone line.
I ended up walking back over. They then kept me waiting for almost twenty minutes while they looked up times for me to get the impression and tried to tell me if the piece would be covered by insurance. Which after I left they called me to tell me it wasn’t. It also wouldn’t be there for 3 weeks and no sooner. At no point did they do anything for me during my visit beyond send me over to the Endo — who actually did tap tests and grind tests to try and figure out what was bothering me.
After finally having enough I called my old dentist in San Ramon. The one I’ve been seeing for years and years before my move. He fit me in, did several colored grind tests and ended up shaving down a piece of the tooth that was bothering me. His dental assistant (who I’ve known forever) let me know my $ 30 CVS guard was fine, but should I want one they could do the impression right then (no goop even as they have a machine!) and have it to me within 4 days with a rush order.
My jaw pain has improved dramatically, my resting bite is no longer painful. And this office did less than nothing for me. They wasted my time.
As of this moment I am done with Willow Glen Dental. I had good appointments, and I really like Dr. Brian. But it’s not my job to make sure they understand how to bill double coverage. And it’s not my job to cheerlead when I’m in pain and I just want someone to give me a definitive answer of what’s wrong — and to do something about it.

I got a cleaning and checkup here today.
Booked a few weeks ago; receptionist was very polite and professional.
The staff is all top notch; seriously A+.
They were all professional and extremely pleasant.
The atmosphere is really welcoming, which is refreshing for a medical office.
They didn’t rush or make me feel like they were tending to too many simultaneous patients.
The doctor and hygienist were down-​to-​earth and focused their attention on me throughout my entire visit.
Not ONE CELL PHONE was ever pulled out by a professional during my visit, which was a first in almost a decade.
I booked my next cleaning without hesitation; I’m glad to have a longterm dentist in my area now.

From my experience today, if this place gets any bad reviews I can only imagine the reviewers have somehow mistaken this place with a different Willow Glen Dental.

I really enjoy the service at this Dental office. Went for an appt yesterday and while I didn’t remember details of my last appt, Jan came in with details of the previous visit, reminded me what we needed to focus on and was clear on her recommendation for our next visit. When I visit a professional this is what I expected, to be given best practices and recommendations. The service was customized to me and even at the time of making a future appt, Jan walked me to the next person, and let them know the time frame needed.
While Jan’s service stood out so much I prefer to visit just when she is available, the rest of the team was great too. Dentist came in and was detailed in his review and accessment. I was seen immediately at my appt time and there was no wasted time. The receptionists were friendly, had my information the minute I gave my name.
Overal a great and organized team. Thank you all!

I am used to walking into a new dentist’s office, opening my mouth, and instantly earning the title of Worst Teeth Ever as the dentist furrows their brow. It is a title I have defended at 5 separate dental practices now. Because my teeth are consistently bad, I’ve become a pretty fair judge of dental care. With Willow Glen my experience has been overwhelmingly positive.
I made Dr. Kong Sr.‘s acquaintance only a week ago, but 3 appointments, 8 fillings, 1 referral for a tooth extraction later, I’m convinced this is the start of something beautiful! Dr. Kong is incredibly skilled with gentle hands, good at addressing questions, and just an all-​around great guy. With one particularly large cavity, he managed to give that tooth a chance at avoiding a root canal — he was able to drill close to the nerve and avoid a nerve exposure, and then inserted glass ionomer in hopes of promoting recalcification. The entire practice is similarly friendly and skilled. Karen, the hygienist, is thorough with the teeth cleaning and a genuinely caring person. Canella, the dental assistant, is super warm and fun to talk to. Lianne, the receptionist, is very kind and always happy to help out. Here’s a shoutout to all of them!
