Best Western Capistrano Inn

Definitely not the Première or Plus BWESTERN. The bed was ok but the pillows were lumpy… all 8 of them! The sundries in the room consisted of lotion, soap and shampoo… no conditioner. I requested some from the office and Yea, they don’t have any… nor were they going to bother doing something about it… i was probably interrupting their TV show… if you are expecting quality customer service… don’t come here

Booked over the weekend on a suggestion from a local friend, I am so happy to have gotten this hotel! Tucked away near the freeway entrances, the Best Western Capistrano Inn is a smaller two leveled hotel, with a small pool and jacuzzi area.
Checking-​in was a breeze, with just a photo ID and major credit card to put down. This location places a hold on your card for cleaning deposit, which they say will be cleared once the cleaners confirm that they were no large messes or smoking in the non-​smoking rooms.
Check-​in is normally at 4:00pm, but when we arrived at 1:30pm, we were told that lower level rooms were available for early check-​in! Perfect.

Our room was standard, with a king sized bed, small patio, desk, arm chair and working AC. The bathroom amenities are very standard, but good nonetheless. Shampoo, lotion, small bar soap and white towels just to name the basics. The shower featured a pull-​to-​close type laundry hanger to hang anything from towels to easily wrinkled clothes. Our TV featured a good number of digital channels– from movies to news to sports, we had some channels to choose from.
My favorite part of this location was the breakfast buffet from 6:00 — 10:00am! Drinks offered include orange juice, apple juice, assorted hot teas and coffee. Totally appreciated the selection of coffee creamers they had too! In terms of food, they had a wide variety of items to choose from. Hot sandwich station (with breads to choose from, breakfast sausages and eggs), several cereals with milk, oatmeals, yogurts and of course, a make-​your-​own waffle area! They do not hold back on their selection, with no added fees to your rate!
I would definitely recommend this Best Western to anyone.

I was pleased with my room. Very comfortable. I was very comfortable while my daughter was at prom night didn’t want to drive all the way home late at night. I love the location right off the freeway. And everything was close by restaurants everything needed. Front desk was friendly. And answered all my questions. I recommend this place.

I don’t like to give bad reviews, but this hotel deserves it. The place is badly in need of repairs. Our toilet was so loosely mounted to the floor it rocked back & forth when sat upon! Light switches worked intermittently. Dirty carpet in rooms. Also, very poor housekeeping. We found (what we assume!) was old pizza toppings, (sausage & peppers) on the floor of our «clean» room upon check in!
The location is right on the freeway, so try to request an interior facing room, or you’ll hear traffic all night. We were also kept awake by the people above us having loud sex all night.
The only reason I didn’t give 1 star is that they offer shuttle service within a short radius of the hotel. We found this to be very helpful.
The staff was courteous, which we appreciated. But we won’t be staying here again.

Fairly basic room with two double beds & a desk. The free breakfast is nice & the mini conference center area (directly adjacent to the pool) is open until 10:30 am. Since they offer free wifi, the conference center area and pool deck are a nice place to get some work done if you need to tele-​commute while traveling. Paid $ 89−99/night for weekend nights.

We’ve stayed in many Best Western and this one was very close to our destination — Mission San Juan Capistrano, of the few we were visiting.
Disappointments #1 With both of us having very tired legs and knees from a beautiful Jamaican trip, hotel not having elevator and needing to use the stairs to haul our luggages was not fun. #2 Then, what’s up with NO closet, no racks, no hooks to hang clothes?
#3 We had some left over lunch but before we could put in fridge, both of us had to pull the fridge off its «closet» since it was unplugged! It took a while for it to cool. Food had to be thrown out. A couple hours later, fridge was still warm.
#4 one little shampoo, one little soap for two people and that’s it!
#5 Tiny spider/​bug bit me and three days later, I still have a nice itch and painful swollen tush.
#6 The parking can be improved. We park on the side where they have a dog run (no choice as all others were taken) and oops, almost collided with another car… NO directional arrows!
Okay for the good:
#1 Emmanuel checked us in, very professional and very friendly and helped us discover two restaurants, Ricardo’s and El Adobe (that’s for another review — excellent places!)
#2 Free Wifi
#3 Complimentary breakfast was better than I expected.
#4 Free parking
#5 Nice selection of souvenir shirts and snacks
Overall, this was just okay but for $ 20, we went to Hampton Inn Mission Valley the following day and we were very happy (see another review on this later).

Room was fair, tv remote didn’t work and toilet was broken. View was great. Breakfast? No eggs, no meat just breads. The man with an attitude told me the breakfast foods had been eaten up already, even though breakfast is served until 10 and I was there at 8:50. He tried to say they didn’t get their delivery? Seems more like poor planning on a holiday weekend when the hotel is totally booked.

Even though this hotel is right on the freeway and we could hear the traffic it still deserves five stars!
Check in is at 4 pm, which is late in my opinion, but the front desk people made it work when I got there at 2 pm. I originally booked a king bed but at 2 o’clock none of those rooms were ready :(so I asked the gentlemen at the front desk if any room was ready and if I could just take that since I just had a very very long drive to get there. He ended up being able to check me into a queen bedroom.
Got to the room and it was quaint. Not super fancy but most def not run down either. The bed was comfy and perfect for a quick stay in town. The room was clean as was the bathroom. The room had a fridge and microwave as well as the standard coffee maker and hair dryer. The room was facing the freeway but we were able to watch the sunset behind the hills from the front door so that was a nice little bonus (if you like that kind of thing).
The location, like I said before, is right on the highway but I found this to be a good thing as I didn’t have to drive further into town to get there.
Over all, we would stay there again for sure!

Fantastic Experience!
This hotel was the closest to the Mission than any other hotel. Rode the train up from San Diego & was able to walk to the hotel from the train station. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the train station.
Got into town earlier than expected and I called to see if I could check in a little early and the front desk staff was helpful and accommodating.
The room was nice, clean, and spacious. There’s a small balcony outside the sliding glass doors with chairs so you can sit and enjoy the evening. There’s a fridge, microwave, and coffee in the room as well. There’s also a pool and jacuzzi, but I didn’t get a chance to take advantage of them.
In the morning there was a fantastic breakfast in the conference center. I was expecting coffee and muffins (like most hotels), but there was eggs, fruit, juice, cereal, bagels, donuts, and freshly made waffles! The staff member, Lori, was fantastic. She made me a fresh waffle and brought it over to me with all the fixins.
I will definitely stay here the next time I’m in town.

This is a horrible place to stay very poorly managed. I definitely do not recommend anyone staying here. My hotel stay was for 3 nights and 2 days. After my 2^nd day there I came back from my meeting at 4, and my room was cleaned and my belongings were still there.
But the big issue was my food that I had left in the refrigerator was taken out and thrown away! Now why on earth would the maid take food out of the refrigerator and throw it away?! I understand if I had left it out on the counter or table, but no this was still in the refrigerator. I was so upset I called the front desk and the girl sounded helpful at first and said she will contact the manager and give me a call back. She never called me back, I called back at 6, and there was a guy this time (Marco) and said he needed to get the maid’s story because they didn’t believe me. How rude is that?! Why would I need to make up that my food in the refrigerator is missing and that now I’m starving. And you guys are thinking why not go buy some new food, but I was having dinner with a client at 8 pm so I just wanted to snack on my food that I did have in the refrigerator.
Well they refused to let me speak to a manager who was named Jeremy and claimed a manager was there only Monday through Friday 5 am to 330 pm. Now that’s ridiculous. Weekends are likely their busiest times and no manager will be on duty for entire weekend? And wow… the managers all leave at 330. Well I called their corporate office on them. Don’t stay here! Poorly ran and horrible staff.

This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had :(I was hoping that the previous reviews were just people exaggerating… they weren’t.
First off, I ended up getting in town earlier than expected so I called the hotel to see if it was possible to check in an hour early. After sitting on hold for ten minutes, I arrived at the hotel and just walked inside to ask the question. They were able to check me in, however the duration of the stay was pure hell. After finally getting into the room, we noticed a nasty looking bug under the decorative blanket thing. I called the front desk to notify them of the issue… again, no answer. After carefully dissecting the bedding on both beds in the room (to make sure there were no more nasty critters hiding) we decided to give up sitting on hold waiting to speak to someone.
After getting some shut eye, we were awoken around 4 am by people doing the deed… loudly (and not even sexily). They had no shame, and no consideration. The hotel didn’t even say anything. Once the couple «stopped», it was just in time for the sun to creep through the giant 2 inch gap beneath our door… so romantic. After burying our heads under pillows from the sounds of people makin’ babies… we moved under the blankets to shield the horrendous glare that was beaming perfectly into our room.
Within minutes of FINALLY catching some shut eye… we were awoken by the second most annoying thing you could hear from your hotel room… other people’s kids!!! This pool has pool hours of 7am-10pm…convenient… if you’re the parents of 3 screaming brats that need a quiet place to let out their extra energy at 7 am. This hotel must be employed by zombies because no one ever said anything! By this time, we decided to sacrifice our sleep in hopes that the «free breakfast» would make up for the crappy stay.
The breakfast was… eh. I had a powdered donut and some bacon. The Bacon made my morning. It was just enough to keep me from turning into the hulk and telling the parents at the pool what I thought of their parenting skills. :)
After that, we checked out early and got a REAL breakfast elsewhere. I called the hotel to inform them of my experience. I was given a «reference number» and told they would call me back. They never did. Shame on this hotel! I totally would’ve much rather stayed at the creepy looking motels you see on Cops, than to sacrifice my sleep!
Ugh! But at least they have bacon and donuts.

Got word a few weeks ago that the employer refuses to pay Federal and state law overtime wages.
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), «any employer» who violates minimum wage or unpaid overtime compensation laws may be liable for both the shortfall and liquidated damages, which means double the damages. The FLSA definition of «employer» can be very broad. Along with supervisors and high-​ranking executives, it can also include officers and directors.
So ANY «boss» even a supervisor that is found guilty of knowingly withholding overtime pay can be liable.
When it comes to recovery of back pay, there is a two-​year statute of limitations, except in the case of a willful violation, where the statute of limitations is three years. When employers are found to willfully violate FLSA, they can also face criminal prosecution and fines up to $ 10,000. Upon a second conviction, employers could face imprisonment. Employers will also be responsible for all legal fees.
If it is found that the employer broke the federal and state overtime law with more than 1 employee, then a class action lawsuit is likely.
If all overtime from employees the past 2 years is not retroactively paid within 30 days, the law offices of Branigan Robertson of Southern California will be moving forward aggressively.

We stayed here while in town for a wedding.
The rooms were clean and spacious. The complimentary breakfast looked like it had a lot of variety. We didn’t try it but everyone in there looked like they thought it was good. They have a pool.
The clientele seemed young. There were people that were super loud outside our rooms around midnight but seemed to quiet down within the hour (or we were just super tired and fell asleep despite that).
This was our cheapest option in the area and it wasn’t THAT bad…

Not the Bates motel but nothing great. No elevator so drag your bags up the steps. Was told my room was one if the «higher end» and I saw nothing special about it. Parking is a total joke i got in after midnight and had to park almost to the road sround 100 yards from my room. Staffs was nice at check-​in. Place was packed probably because of the low rate. Not the worst hotel, definitely not a great one. OK for the price.

There is only one reason this review isn’t five stars and positive. We only stayed for a night (6/11−6/12)and everything was great except for the day we were to check out. From about 6am to when we walked to the lobby for check out construction was happening and loud enough to keep us awake. It would last for 20 mins stop for 20 and then start again as we were just falling back to sleep. The parking lot was also full which is inconvenient and frustrating. I’m really sad because it was great other than that, but it was a big issue. I’d advise before you book you check on the constriction.

Meh just about sums this charmer up. For $ 20 more you could get a room that is much nicer at a different hotel. But we were being cheap, and we got what we got. For $ 120, you get a room that is meh. It’s plastic and polyester.
To start– the door key wouldn’t open the door. We had to jam it in and out (haha) about ten times before it worked. And the door kind of stuck too. The place wasn’t the cleanest either.
All and all, the place could use an update and de-​bugging.

Please do yourself a favor and spend a little extra money to stay somewhere else. Found a bed bug skin in the dresser of my first room. Found a cockroach in my second room. At night there was a huge black or brown widow outside my room door waiting for me. Also found what looked like blood stains on my bottom sheet. The hard boiled eggs at breakfast tasted like sour cream and had the texture as if they had been sitting like that for weeks. The fruit looked like it had all been dropped down a flight of stairs before serving it. This place obviously only has me thing in mind, and that’s doing everything as cheaply as they can. Stay somewhere else.

Called ahead and asked if I would be able to check in early and spoke with a very pleasant clerk named Tim. He was so helpful and nice. I arrived at the hotel and my room was ready and I asked if I could be close to the stairs and he kindly put me in a nice room. Tim really took care of me.
The room was clean and everything looks fairly new. New sink and shower knobs and nice crown molding. Nice flat screen on the wall. Very clean room.
The parking is nice because you can park close to your room.
Oh and I had this big cooler to take upstairs and two of the hotel staff kindly saw me struggle with my cooler and helped me take it up stairs. That was very nice of them.
Price is ok but it is the summer time and people vacation this time of year. The construction of Ortega hwy is annoying but hopefully in a few months it will be nice around here.
All and all very nice stay!

Easily the worse hotel stay in recent memory.
I check in and have one simple request. Please place me in a quiet room.
I check into a room and hear barking. Its a dog in the room below me. A really kind housekeeper sees me staring at the dog and starting to put my things back in my car so I can get another room.
Turns out the room she found for me was booked. Upon heading back to my room, what do I see? Another dog.
Dogs are allowed anywhere in this hotel.
When the front desk called with another room request it was in the other area with the dog. I decided to take my chances and stay in my room.
The front desk claimed they had no idea about the dog below me. Fine. I can see that happening.
However, I begin to hear loud blaring music in the room next to me. I can hear every word. Then I hear a couple arguing, piles of F bombs, etc. Oh. They also have a dog who when this couple yells, barks its head off.
I head to the front desk and ask them if they knew the room they checked me into had a dog next to it and they say yes. Really? Quiet room and you put me next to a dog.
The walls at the hotel are crazy thin. I gave up on the room and headed home a day early.
I would strongly suggest not staying here.

Great value for the price! Surprised it was right off the highway so dont expect a view or a beach location. Large room, bathroom, and bed with all the modern furnishings of a flat screen tv, microwave and microfridge. Nice size pool and jacuzzi, free parking and a continental breakfast included. What more can you ask for? The continental breakfast was not great but had the basics– danishes, sliced bread, bagels, hard boiled eggs, frozen waffles with coffee and juice. Plenty of parking space.
The room had a separate sink/​mirror area and a small room with the shower and toilet. The size of the room was large, the bed comfortable. The room was on the side of the highway but I had no problem sleeping or disturbed by noise. Overall a satisfactory stay for a good price.
Next morning visited the Mission San Juan Capistrano and enjoyed the historic site and the lovely gardens. Definitely worth a visit!
