We’ve now used Crown twice for office moves — both on short notice. They’ve been incredibly accommodating and helpful for figuring out tricky pieces we needed to move (a 5,000 lb safe!!!). They are very efficient and were able to move our 30 person office in less than 5 hours. Hopefully we won’t need to move again soon, but if we do I would definitely hire them again!

Superior Moving Company, This was my 6^th move that Crown Worldwide has handled for me.
Their professional staff gave excellent service from the quote, packing and moving us out and then unpacking and moving us in. They handled everything — they even brought new pads to put on all the furniture legs so as not scratch my new hardwood floors. They had all the tools to take off the laundry room door and they installed the washer and dryer. My fragile art work, sculptures, china and glassware all packed and unpacked with caring hands. If a move is in your future just call Crown Worldwide and let them organize everything! Their prices are very reasonable and I never hesitate to refer them to friends and family.

They moved our entire office into two locations and they were pro pro pro! Also protected key places. Fast efficient and fucking good attitude from the entire crew. Dare say even fun. Yeah well worth the price and better than other moving companies. They just descended and started going at it. Yup. Champ! Our move was within the city.

Thank you very much for your assistance with my move from Calif. to New York. This was a very difficult decision for me and Crown Worldwide Moving and Storage/​United Van Lines made it a smooth transition, one less thing to worry about. The movers who picked up and delivered my belongings were great, very professional and courteous. They explained the process, were very efficient and hard working, I could never do their job. I was little concerned about a box of drinking glasses, they weren’t expensive but they had a sentimental value only to me. Glad to report, they arrived all in one piece as well all my other things. All of you combined made me happy that I made the right decision. Definitely will use you in the future (not too soon I hope… lol!) and recommend you to others. Crown/​United Van Lines also transported my car which I received a day earlier and the driver was very courteous and kept me updated on his whereabouts. My move with this company from Albany to San Antonio was the worst moving experience of my life — and I have moved a lot. I so wish I had chosen one of the other companies I interviewed. Joe Colburne gave me an estimate so out of line with the others that I called him back to make sure it was accurate. I wanted no surprises on the other end. That resulted in an estimate that was about $ 2,000 more than the original estimate, but in line with the other quotes I received. I assumed that this was an honest mistake — and perhaps it was. I went with them because of United’s reputation. First mistake.
Next the coordinator scheduled the pickup for my residence and for storage at the same time and suggested that I get someone else to watch one while I was at the other. I told her that was not a possibility. I got another e-​mail with the date wrong. We eventually straightened that out. Finally, the moving crew that came to load my residence and oversaw loading of the storage unit was unprofessional, flippant, and dismissive. At one point when they were putting a tall stack of boxes on top of one I had marked «Fragile», I asked them if they were going to take care of the fragile ones since they were stacking other boxes on top. They told me «No. We don’t. How many fragile boxes do you have? About 90%?» I had about 10 out of all the boxes I had packed. When we moved to the storage unit, one of them actually tossed a box marked fragile across several feet to his colleague. Fortunately it was caught, but I was shocked. I told them that box was fragile. The one who threw it said, «Well, he caught it, didn’t he?»
When they arrived at my new house in San Antonio, I too, like other reports here, had crushed boxes and smashed wardrobes. They also broke one of my carts and the younger worker shrugged it off as no big deal. The bed slats were nailed back on crooked as well. When I pointed out how many boxes were damaged, they told me it was because of the type of moving boxes I used. (Same as I have always used with no prior damage.)
I will never use them again and hope, by virtue of this review, to spare others the same experience.

If you want your household goods destroyed, lost, pay thousands of dollars to be treated like dirt then Crown is the mover for you.
I can’t even begin to say what a nightmare this company is. It started great with the booking and they had a crew available at the last minute, of course, we can help, can we have your credit card number?.
They actually were about 2500 $ more than another mover we were going to use but we thought we were hiring United Van Lines and if you want the job done right than you need to pay for it, well, we did not know they sub out contracts to Crown.
Load out day was fine and the guys were efficient and nice according to my dad who was present. The nightmare begins in storage where your belongings will be thrown, crushed, broken, lost and they will deny everything and tell you it happened in transit so the responsibility can be tossed to United. That is where the real fun that you paid for begins.
I have learned a great deal from this personally and professionally. I have learned about the mover rights for customers (there are none), how to file a complaint with the BBB (who do nothing by the way) filed and requested for arbitration (twice now) learned how to file a small claims for court and everything NOT to do in customer service.
They will refuse to admit any wrong doing and do not care at all about how they treat their customers. Getting your money is all they care about not the business of quality moving.
Movers have no penalty for losing your personal possessions. None. And they know it and treat you exactly like that.
You won’t get an apology, any effort or gawd forbid reimbursement for what they lost (prove you owned it they say) We didn’t lose your stuff, United did. We didn’t break your stuff, United did. Call United customer service (that’s a ton of fun right there as they don’t respond to email or calls either)
Crown could give a rats ass about you and your stuff. Prove you packed what you say you did. Too bad you packed it on your own and didn’t use our 15 $ boxes and 25 $ tape, we would not have broken or lost anything.
With the damage we had to furniture and boxes, that truck had to have rolled down a ravine if it wasn’t done in storage.
So — some advice:
Photo every box before taping it shut, write your own number on the said box and list what is in it on a separate piece of paper A pain I know but we are still missing 4 or 5 boxes and we packed in October and I can’t seem to remember exactly what was in it until I start looking for «it» of course.
Tape the sides as well as top and bottom. They ripped the sides open of about 5 boxes with china in them. Again, expect your boxes to be round, not square when you get them from Crown so just prepare accordingly and also expect to have your furniture broken so either don’t take it with you or box it in wooden crates.
They unwrap the furniture when they leave your house anyway just so you think it is wrapped and safe. It will come all unwrapped and broken/​scratched and their excuse is «so we can make sure it was yours» what? — what happened to the sticker organization? Oh, they really don’t use that either, we received 5 boxes that didn’t belong to us with completely different numbers. Same color but different numbers.
Or better yet, don’t use Crown Moving.
Photo all the boxes in their truck so you can PROVE the squashing and breaking of your furniture did not happen while in the truck.
DO NOT LET THE DELIVERY MAN TOUCH YOUR «PINK» SHEET! They cross off numbers just so they can leave, not so they can make sure you have all your boxes.
I had to actually go through and redo the inventory sheet because their driver crossed off about 15 box numbers we didn’t receive and they still don’t believe you. All in the same week of moving in, more fun right?
If you do the above and maybe a little more documenting and if you are lucky, you will get a call that they found a few boxes! 3 MONTHS LATER.
They refused to believe we owned two kitchen aids, a dining table top, silverware, cookbooks as stated on our 4 page excel spreadsheet claim form until they showed up mysteriously all repacked.
They don’t respond to emails or calls for updates about where the rest of your things are but hey, they got their money right? That’s all that counts with Crown, not customer service or your things.
For our next move: We pack, pay a local crew to load our rental truck and we drive it to a storage unit in the new location, pay another local crew to unload into unit and then when ready we pay again another local crew to move it from our unit to new house.
I figure we would have saved about 3k doing it that way and the men you hire need the work so you are helping someone out at the same time.
Due to this experience with United and Crown we will NEVER EVER use another moving company service again. I’ll mail our house before I do.
STAY AWAY and looking forward to seeing Crown in small claims.

I had to take away two stars because the man who came out to give me an estimate, Joe Colburn straight out lied to me. His verbal estimate was completely off when the 1^st written estimate arrived, which was twice the original amount he verbally quoted and wrote in writing! I was so upset, I called the owner. He was genuinely kind and concerned. But I was still not trusting anyone from there. In the end, they shoved everything in 2 containers. The moving men in CA were terribly kind… but spoke no English! Everything arrived on time and at least the moving men in PA spoke English and were very considerate. Because the CA crew jammed everything in 2 containers several boxes arrived squashed, my favorite rolling cart was broken and a Bo urged up missing. Thankfully, nothing in the boxes were destroyed. However, the box that they lost was filled with family heirloom China… I was not happy. Would I use Crown Moving again? Nope. Would I use United Van Lines, the main company they represent, yes. I had to painstakingly submit a claim quoting the cost of the lost items. Thank goodness I had the information in my safe. But the loss was far greater than money could replace. United Van Lines were prompt and professional in reimbursing me.

Crown Worldwide Moving is a joke. Our experience was so horrible even a –0 is too much of a rating! They give you a quote, you accept, then they find reasons to increase your quote. You buy the most insurance they offer, but unless you have pictures of every item being handled by the packer, well, sorry folks, you do not have proof the item was packed! This company lacks EVERYTHING!!! Absolutely, criminally, horrible!!!

I wish so much that I could leave a glowing «they handled my claim like a champ» review, but, unfortunately I cannot. In fact, I would now drop Crown’s rating to a zero if that was an option here.
After much correspondence with Crown’s risk management manager, Larry Richter, we have ultimately been told that we cannot prove our missing items were ever packed or stolen by Crown personnel and that Crown, therefore, is not responsible for them. He explained that the items were not numbered on the packing inventory sheet and so cannot be claimed. Never mind that:
— the only items that were numbered were large pieces (dressers, sofas, etc) and that none of the wall art, home décor, kitchenware etc was numbered, (certainly had we known that only numbered items would be covered we would have made sure all five million items were numbered!)
— that the Crown estimator admitted the packers should not have been emptying dresser drawers where the jewelry boxes were (and were all the clothing pieces listed on the inventory sheet?!), or
— that we paid for the most comprehensive insurance they offered…
Nope! According to Mr. Richter, «you cannot prove [it]!»
Consumers beware! As has been noted by others here, this organization lacks integrity from the top to the bottom! Use someone else or move yourself!

This is in reference to their long haul service that they handle for United.
Be extra careful when a quote is provided when using these guys. They came out to do an estimate, gave me a price, assumed that they could bring in a semi truck and couldn’t and when *I* realized this might be a problem I called them and they upped the price 700 for the move. Now it’s a week from my move and I have no alternatives, don’t take their word at face value.
They were very professional, timely and the experience was positive, but to be penalized like this for their failure to provide an accurate costing and determination of the resources needed, is a failure in their ability to execute.
To make matters worse: They sent out their group of people to load the «shuttle» with and they were horrible. There were 3 people, only two of them actually worked on the loading of the truck, the other one filled out paperwork, ineffectually, and then the one of the packers seemed to have no idea what he was doing.
What was the net effect: It took Puma moving 6 hours to move us out of our condo, drive, get lunch and unload into the storage unit… it took these guys 5 hours to load their truck. Also: Puma needed 12 linear feet (about half a 22′ truck) these guys filled a FULL 22′ truck.
Horrible truck crew. Oh, and they didn’t ask about high value items until AFTER they fully packed the truck so it took them 25 minutes to locate each of the numbers of each of the items.

Like all reviews, take this with a grain of salt. I’m sure experiences vary quite greatly from person to person, since it greatly depends on the team that’s assigned to the project. That said, let me explain my recent moving experience (from SF to LA), a corporate relocation, and why I give them 1 star. (I would also give them 0 if I could, but most of my stuff did arrive, hence the 1 star.)
Also, note, I have done 3 other corporate moves, so I do have a bit of experience with this stuff. The team that Crown used was called Olivarez, Inc.
TL;DR — they did $ 14,000 worth of damage.
This damage was mostly done by the loading team (the team that shows up on day 2 after items have been boxed up and inventoried). 11 of the 14 damaged items were furniture (the other 3 were smashed items in boxes). Fortunately, all of our items are fully insured by my company, so all *should* be taken care of, but we are still in the claims process.
The Loading Process:
*TARDINESS — We were given 8am-​9am as the window of time during which they would show up and start loading. They didn’t show up until 11:30am.
*NO MOVING SUPPLIES — Probably the most absurd, the loading team did not show up with moving supplies. No blankets, no plastic, no bubble wrap, no straps. So they hung out in front of our house for 1.5 hours waiting for one of their guys to drive to San Leandro, then back to SF with the moving supplies.
*REMINDED THEM TO INVENTORY — The team had started loading items, without assigning numbers to them and writing them down. So we reminded them that those items had not been inventoried yet.
*DAMAGE TO THE APARTMENT in the walls of our house — Moving items downstairs to the truck, they punctured holes in the hallway walls, scratched off the drywall/​paint, and left large dents. There were also scratches in the hardwood floor from sliding one of our items across, as well as gauges in the drywall near to the spot where the dining room table sat.
*DAMAGE TO OUR POSSESSIONS — 14 items in total were damage. Needless to say, our custom dining table has severe damage to the corners, scratches around the legs, and 2 large dents in the top of the table, and one of the legs on the couch is just straight up broken.
*UNPROFESSIONAL — I really went back and forth on whether or not to include this section since its really so subjective. Given that I’m providing the 360 on my experience, this was also a downside for me. Three things stick out:
1. One of the guys was really just a jackass. He swore like crazy, complained of items being too heavy, and just in general was unpleasant to be around. One of our heavier items prompted him to say, «What the F***, don’t these people know that human beings are moving this S***.»
2. One of the other guys was asking me a question (he was really nice and he was the only one who had been there the day before), and the Jackass guy says to him, «I don’t think she wants to look at that face of yours any longer than she has to.» WUT???
3. The packing team, while I realize moving is gnarly and straining, would take their breaks then come back wreaking of pot. Like so much that I felt like I was at Outside Lands during The Flaming Lips all over again. The lead chick for the packing group could barely keep her eyes open. Hard to have confidence in all of your stuff being competently packed when they are practically narcoleptic.
I would urge anyone to not use Crown as a result or at least shop around. I have done 3 other corporate moves and they have all been hassle-​free, the moving team was professional and pleasant, making me think the investment of moving services was well worth it. Needless to say, this experience made me rethink that, big time. There was a point when I thought «I wish I had just done this myself.» I could have done a better job.
Again, grain of salt. But really do consider what I have written when you are looking to relocate. And think twice about Crown, especially if they are using Olivarez, Inc during the process.

I know how hard it is to find a good moving company, so having a positive experience needs to be documented! We received a couple of bids, with the bids falling within just a few dollars of each other, so our decision to go with United /​Crown Worldwide was less about price and more about the very positive interaction we experienced with our estimator, Christina Muller. She recognized some of the challenges of our particular move and really seemed to understand the difficulty of moving an elderly person half way across the country. It was comforting and gave us more confidence in opting for Crown Worldwide as our movers. The experience was pretty efficient and straightforward with lots of communication along the way. The moving crew showed up on the day promised to pack. They packed everything super carefully — in fact, my one criticism is to minimize the paper waste in the packing process. I don’t believe canned goods need to be individually wrapped, but perhaps that’s just me? However, all the delicate items seem to have arrived in good condition, so that’s the payoff. The driver arrived at our destination pretty quickly — we were packed out on a Monday and the driver /​crew arrived to unpack everything the following Monday. We paid upfront according to the estimate, but got a small credit back for weighing less than anticipated. I would absolutely use this moving company again. Hope this helps others in the process!

If i could give zero stars i would. I have been so disappointed in the moving services provided by Crown. We moved from Columbus, Ohio to San Jose, California and we thought we were being well taken care of. Turns out we were in for a ride — a bad one. When our stuff was delivered we found that most of our wooden furniture was broken (desk legs sheered off — pool table slate broken in half), missing (shelves from entertainment centers missing, missing assembly hardware for tables and bunk beds), or damaged (cigarette burns and black markings on pillows). Now we’re in the claims black hole and its been weeks… we’ve had people come by to look at the damage, point fingers (packers vs transport), and we still don’t know what’s going to happen. All the while we have to stare at broken or missing furniture every day. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

I’ve never wanted to write a review so badly. I had palettes of table bases delivered to our office and these people handled it like a PRO. Our delivery man Rick Almonti was the best. He was so kind and professional to the T. I wish everyone in the customer service world was more like this guy. What a stand up dude. He was very communicative and told me everything he was going to do and communications were clear. So painless and so AMAZING!!! Please give this guy a whopping bonus or a raise — or BOTH!

Crown, their sales team, management, and the 2 crews who packed, then unpacked us 2 weeks later, all exceeded every expectation regarding price, service, professionalism, attitude, and especially, heart. They all made an extremely difficult move emotionally into a very smooth transition. Thank you Crown!

These guys were great. Moved 3 bed apartment from Foster city to Scottsdale AZ. Paid for packing service which was excellent. Packers arrived Tuesday morning, packed everything up before the moving truck arrived that evening to load (Crown use United Van lines as their agent). Drove ourselves down to Arizona over the next few days, when we arrived they had already been and all our stuff was unloaded with the furniture reassembled in the appropriate rooms. Total cost was a bit over $ 4K, the quote included insurance and packing, and no extras were ever applied to the up front quote.
From the initial contact and quote to follow up, packing, moving, and unloading these guys were 5 stars. Can’t recommend them enough.
