Leopold Murphy and Main, DDS

In addition to the aggressive collection of $ 83.60 because I would not pay confusing statement, now my Dentist Ian Leopold has decided to quit because he feels he is unable to establish the necessary relationship vital to the success of my treatment. Wow, I guess this office does not realize there are other dental offices in San Luis Obispo. I can’t recommend Ian Leopold for dental services.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Murphy for a very long time. He’s treated my teeth for a variety of reasons over the years. I have bi-​annual hygiene treatments, too, and am always very pleased with the entire staff, from accounting, to scheduling to procedures. Fortunately, I had very pleasant experiences with my pediatric dentist who paved the way for my being comfortable in the proverbial ‘dentist’s chair’. In spite of some challenging situations with regards to my treatment, I feel I have a mutually positive relationship with Nick and his entire staff. I highly recommend Leopold Murphy and Main dentistry.

Excellent as always, so glad I found this place! The best in SLO county. Janet is my hygienist and always does a very good job. Professional, pleasant and one of the best I’ve ever been to. Luckily I don’t see Dr. Murphy often as my teeth have stayed trouble free from the good care I get here.

Beyond met expectations. Thorough and compassionate. Hands down best dental office in SLO. Dr. Murphy was born to be a dentist.

Love this practice! My sister was my dentist before they were and I can’t say enough about them! Ian is my doc, his dad completely saved my gums with an intervention that was just right, and all the hygienists are fantastic! I love this practice and all the people!

I’ve been going to this office so long I’m on the second generation of Doctors Leopold. They are all highly skilled, super kind, and efficient. Actually, my mouth has been worked on by all the dentists except Dr. Main (so far).
A special shout-​out to hygienist, Maria, who is wonderfully exceptional in every way. I will wait for her to have a vacancy for months if need be.
Also, I am extremely impressed by the latest technology the practice employs. Top notch.

The Leopold, Murphy, and Main office is a pleasure to deal with, from the front desk on. Teeka actually makes a cleaning kind of fun with her bubbly personality. Dr. Ian is knowledgeable, personable and kind, and fully explains all options with patience and understanding. My anxiety is nearly gone, and I haven’t had to use the gas since the first couple of visits. I would highly recommend this team.

Been going here my entire life! I have nothing but good things to say about the Dr. Leopold’s and Dr. Main. They are dentists I’ve seen. Im not sure how many more dentist’s practise there. Most of the dental hygienists I’ve seen have been great. They have the nicest dental office staff and the acual office in SLO county!

O. K First things first I HATE DENTISTS!!! BUT…
I went to L, M&M and saw IAN I felt very comfortable and relaxed and I hadn’t even had laughing gas!, lol I really don’t like dental apps. And actually FEAR them. But I’m returning to get a filling and prob also to get my teeth cleaned (the worst thing ever since you don’t get any numbing stuff) the staff was excellent I especially liked GINA she was the first person I dealt with and she put me at ease because of her friendly kind disposition and she’s also just adorable. Anyway if you MUST go to the DENTIST and fear them as I do, you should try L, M&M ask for Gina & Ian then BREATH!!!

I’ve been going to Dr. Main for several years on a friends recommendation and I have had all positive experiences. I had to have a crown re-​done from a prior dentist «mess». The staff is all very caring and attentive and for me because I am never «relaxed» when I head into the dentist chair they make it so much easier for me! My husband and son switched over to this office after hearing of my experience… so yes I give them 5 stars!

Just OK. I dont like the long wait times but the dentist will spend a good amount of time with you, so IMHO that will justify the long wait. They do have newer equipment and staff is very nice, with the exception of a few billing people. But overall they work with my schedule to make an appointment so I guess I cant complain. Havent had any work done tho so I cant comment on that, but for a cleaning they do a good job

Dr. Ian Leopold is awesome! He is super friendly and extremely skilled and knowledgable! I had a natural defect in my front tooth that was deep and stained and he fixed perfectly in under 15 minutes! I literally can’t even tell where the defect used to be – he filled and matched the filling material so perfectly! He was very thorough and took the time to explain my x-​rays to me and answer any questions I had. He wasn’t too aggressive with recommending treatment but made sure to note all my potential problem areas and potential cavities. I will go back to him for all of my dental work and I recommend him to all my family and friends. You literally won’t meet a more competent or friendly dentist in SLO! Also, their office is incredibly beautiful and comfortable – unlike any dental office I have ever been too! If you want a great dentist go to Dr. Ian Lepold!

Part of my family continued to have dental work done here after I had moved on. They now regret it, and have had to find a new dentist in town. Two botched dental procedures, the last needed to be completed else where in town. Also failure to recognize a dental problem while having regular check up and cleaning. Unacceptable!!!

I LOVE this dental group! They are very understanding and are aware that I don’t have dental insurance coverage. They provide the best dental care available and always keep in mind the cost for me as their patient. They have an excellent program for new patients where you pay only $ 99.00 for your first visit. I was surprised to find that my first check up was completed with the most modern equipment and the cost was low. Check them out!

This is the best dental office ever! If you want painfree dental work, see Dr. Nick Murphy. Our whole family sees these dentists. The staff is friendly and efficient. The hygienists make going to the dentist non-​traumatic. Going to the dentist is never fun but at least going here they treat you nicely.

Leopold Murphy and Main have made «visiting the dentist» a great experience for our family. Now there are three generations of us who visit their offices. Thankful that they care more about our needs than theirs.

Dr. Main is amazing. He is friendly and very professional. I have been going to see him since 2007. I love going to this dental office because everybody is friendly, they have a flexible schedule, the hygiene specialists do a great cleaning job and Dr. Main always finds the solution to my dental problems.

I honestly cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Main, the office staff, and the dental assistants. I’ve seen many dentists in my life and have never once liked a dentist until I visited Dr Main’s office. The staff are absurdly kind and courteous and accommodating. The dental assistants really made me feel comfortable. Dr. Main was very knowledgeable and very kind. The work that he has done for me has been of very high quality. What really stands out, is that they help me try to cut costs and don’t try to sell me shit I don’t need. I am a student without dental insurance, so it really makes all the difference!

Sadly, I was introduced to the world of dentistry when I was very young, and my teeth were very crooked. I don’t remember my first visit to the local dentist/​orthodontist, however, I do vividly remember the pain suffered at the hands of my Dr.‘s… I think they used me as a guinea pig to test out all the newest and «innovative» orthodontic devices. At one point or another, I wore; braces (including rubber bands, and other weird attachments), retainers, headgear, and an expander where I used a key to adjust. Let’s just say my experiences have not been pleasant… until Leopold Murphy and Main, DDS!
The office is cozy, and each room overlooks well manicured outdoor gardens where I often see birds flying to and from. This sets the stage for a much more enjoyable visit than some of my previous experiences.
I remember my first visit; one of the staff asked if I wanted dark glasses (to block the light?), or headphones (to listen to music of my choice). I was pleasantly surprised, as in all my years going to the dentist, not one ever considered my comfort!
Dr. Main took some time to introduce himself and get to know me on a personal level, which always earns points in my book! Building rapport is key, and he earned my trust quickly.
All the work I’ve had done has been executed professionally with limited discomfort. Let’s face it, when you’re getting a tooth drilled, it’s hard to mask all the pain, but they go the extra mile to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible.
All the staff I’ve interacted with are extremely friendly, and their reminder system is very convenient. They have a great process for following up and scheduling appointments so you stay on track!
Without a doubt, after 20+ years of seeing dozens of different dentists (from NY to California), Leopold Murphy and Main, DDS is the best I’ve experienced!
