J & B Computers

After two visits to J&B, my laptop still isn’t working optimally, but Andrew (the tech) assured me that they want their customers satisfied. I’ll be going back again this week.
The props… good service & good pricing. They listen to what you say and take the time to diagnose the problem (s.) On pick up, someone goes over the computer with you, that’s helpful for casual computer users like me. The repair prices are reasonable, and, like I mentioned, they want it done right, just like I want it done right. I also like that J&B is a small, owner-​operated business. I love supporting small business in my city.
The con… a little slow on keeping me updated or following up issues. They couldn’t work on unit because they had the wrong password, but it took 2 days to call & let me know.

They do a diagnostic check without charging you a penny, even if you end up walking out of the door. That says a LOT about customer service. Super friendly/​honest service too. I was expecting to have to buy a new computer, but they were able to fix it for a great price that I was not expecting.
Highly recommended. We need more businesses like this.

I’m very happy with the service I received from Jim, Andrew and Kevin they always give their very best to solve my computer problems. The price is always the most affordable. My computer survived the Windows 10 «forced install», thanks to J&B I’m back on track with my printers and software. I didn’t want to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 because I didn’t think my computer could handle this but J&B got everything running again. I recommend them and after 12 years of doing business with them, they are the most honest and affordable by far. Great job!!!

The only place I will ever go for computer problems now. I am shocked by their honesty, helpfulness and efficiency. My laptop was having problems charging so I took it in. They did a free diagnostic and looked at everything, calling me back later that day. They told me my hard drive was also failing and it would be better for me to buy a new laptop than fix mine. They detailed all the costs associated with fixing mine and they’re right, a new laptop would be smarter. After telling me that, they gave me a great list of recommended laptops and answered all my questions. Even though I personally didn’t pay for any of their services, I can tell they don’t overcharge. They genuinely want to help and not just make a sale. When I went I only interacted with Kevin (I think that was his name) and he was so extremely helpful. Truly an asset to the company. Highly recommend this company.

Dream Team– Triple Threat… Nope– not taking about Jennifer Lopez or One Direction… I am referring to –Jim, Andrew and Kevin. I brought my laptop in because it sounded like it was going to take off into space and was also making a strange frying noise. Andrew found a piece of plastic in the computer and fixed it… as well as cleaned up the entire PC. These guys are honest, super tech savvy and most importantly professional. If you are brining your computer in… chances are you are probably freaking out because you didn’t back up anything… and your life is on a hard drive. They are calm– reassuring and set expectations from the beginning. I will only go to them moving forward. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else– these guys have your best interest at heart. Oh– and super reasonable — I don’t think you will find a better business to take care of your computer needs.

My computer was slow and couldn’t update some programs. Andrew at J & B fixed both in a timely manner with a very reasonable cost. I enjoyed my experience with J & B computers and will definitely contact them for all my computer needs.

Wow… J & B diagnosed my laptop with no minimum charge. Jim called me back in a timely fashion and said that the cost to repair the machine didn’t make economic sense (display going wonky and unbeknownst to me, a questionable hard drive) based on its age and estimated repair cost. I picked up the machine and they even gave me a list of recommended brands for replacement based on their experience for reliability!
Did I mention no charge for the diagnoses and advice? I’ve used another laptop repair shop in the past, but from now on, J & B Computers is my repair shop of choice! Highly recommended!

My tower/​desk top stopped working, and I was desperate for data recovery. I brought the computer into their store, they immediately took the hard drive out, and asked me what files I needed. I was so relieved when they found, and retrieved my much needed data. Seriously, I am so grateful. I love this company!

My husband and I found this place through Unilocal and were holding our breath hoping the good reviews were legit. What we experienced was even beyond the best reviews that were given.
Long story short: my husbands 7 year old Dell wouldn’t turn on /​multiple issues. We never backed up the important documents and all of his PHD/​Masters research we feared was lost!

I wanted to add my praise to the folks at J & B. They worked on my Dell laptop and managed to find an ingenious solution to the problem, keeping me in the loop the whole way. The laptop had had liquid spilled all over it and had stopped working. The price was reasonable and I was impressed with the care they took. Even though it’s many miles from my home I’ll be going back there in future.

Our desktop had slowed significantly so we took it in and they had to do a complete overhaul due to viruses. They preserved all the data and installed anti-​virus and anti-​malware programs that are free and work great. They walked me thru everything in detail before, during and after the process and the computer is working like a new machine now.

Excellent!!! My daughter’s laptop broke at the hinge and when she took it back to best buy they told her it was 6 months out of warranty so she’s out of luck. She lives at the university and needed it working asap for school. I sent her brother there a few years ago after finding it on Unilocal and once again, it was the right call. The guy even called after 9pm while still working on it and gave us all our options and quoted his reasonable prices for those options. If you just want to get it back to normal or if you want to upgrade it, there was no hard sell. In the end, she will have it back in working order for under $ 100 and within 24 hours. Having two kids away at school I need a good computer repair guy and J&B is just that. Thank you!!!

Kevin did a first rate job on my 2010 MacBook Pro 13″. I had the faulty SuperDrive replaced and a 1TB hard drive upgrade. They put my old 500 GB hard drive into a USB caddy so I would not lose any of my files. Unfortunately my computer developed an issue with its power manager and would no long charge the battery, they took care of that free of charge since it happened on their watch, but it took a few extra weeks to send the computer to a specialist in NY. When I came to pick up the computer, Andrew took his time going through the whole computer to demonstrate the work they had done – all flawless and they installed an antivirus for me for Free!!! Great job, highly recommended!!!

My computer recently died on me. After thumbing through all the options and reviews on Unilocal decided on J&B. It is a rarity to find a place that geniuely cares about the customer’s interest, give peace of mind, and provide excellent customer service. I was definitely impressed and satisfied with the work. Andrew took the time to give me my options prior to doing any work. The owner made sure i was well informed and happy with the work. At no time did i feel they were out to take advantage. J&B kept in contact each step of the way, and wanted to make sure i was happy. I’ve worked for some of the best companies well known for their customer services for many years. In my opion, J&B is the real deal! Fantastic service, great work, they go above and beyond! I will be bring my other laptop for a tune up and evaluation. Thanks J&B!

J & B took my blue screen of death HP Pavilion and in just a couple of days gave me back a computer with much of the data rescued. New drives, faster, better, more reliable. They are very professional, friendly, and helpful. Don’t go to Frys (two weeks) or Geek Squad ($ 100 to tell you they can’t fix it). These guys diagnose for free!
