The first impression I had when walking into the shop was, man, what a mess. There’s just random stuff all over the place, and what are obviously customer pieces sitting on the floor. Interesting. But, the other reviews said what an awesome job they did, so I figured that I’d let that influence me more than the mess in front of me.
The lady working there was in the back chatting with someone, and I waited a few minutes before I poked my head back there to let them know I was in the lobby area. She politely said hello and said she would be with me in a minute.
Well, after 20 minutes or so of listening to the lady and the guy in there bullshit about random things, they both made their way up to the front, and the gentleman left. They both thanked me for being so patient. Now, I totally understand that if there’s one person working there, and two customers, one of the customers is going to have to wait. I was fine with that, but I think if you know that you have someone else waiting in the lobby, at least shoot the shit somewhere where they can’t hear you. It was mildly irritating.
When I was finally helped, I asked for a fairly common type of frame (¼ — 3/​8″ brushed aluminum), which they didn’t have. She said something about the recession making things difficult to get, and the manufacturers were not making a lot of different frames anymore. Whatever.
So I took my stuff literally less than 2 miles away, where I was helped almost immediately, and they had exactly what I was looking for. I asked if they had any issues obtaining framing material because of the recession, and they looked at me like I had a third eye. I figured as much.

The owner is amazing. She has a lot of knowledge about custom framing, canvas stretching and art. They also hosts several events throughout the year. There is food, wine and art. Get there early for art shows if you want to meet and greet with the artists.

I recently brought two old canvases to Twin Oaks Gallery to see about framing them. It was the only place I could find in San Marcos, Vista or Escondido. They did an amazing job. The owner helped me choose matting, glass and frames. She had to do some repair work on the canvases. She gave me a really nice discount. The finished products were astonishingly great. I highly recommend this business.
